  • Morel Mushroom Hunting 2024 - Beginner Tips And Advice In this video I provide tips and advice for beginners on how to find morel mushrooms. We covered many miles and elevations to finally find morels fruiting below the snowline.
    I show you where to look, what to look for, what other indicator species pop up at the same time as morels, tree identification, etc., in hopes these tips will help you find your own morels. These mushrooms grow throughout the PNW Cascades from April through May, are easy to identify and are amazingly delicious.

    So a few weeks ago I had found your channel. I went to Hood that weekend to put my new knowledge to work. Kept finding snow down each road we went. Worked on our elevations. I remembered East side! So we head that way. First service road we came to I drive down. Looking pretty promising! But still not finding anything. I had to go pee so I went and found a tree and remembered you saying that's when you find them. While I was peeing my daughter was waking around checking things out. It wasn't until I came out of my "forest potty" that I saw 2 blondies! First 2 I've found in a good 6 yrs! Thank you for your amazing teachings!

      Thank you for watching and your comments. Your story made my day! I'm glad your persistence made you successful. Now you know where they live, and what the environment looks like. I'm betting next time you will find even more. Congrats on your success and thank you for your support of my channel.

    Gosh these are amazing! I randomly stumbled upon some morels over on Larch mountain in the past week. I was given a tip about trilliums and saw some and thought, lemme see if there are any morels. And found 3! My understanding is that June is fairly late season, is that right? Do you think it’s still worth looking in the Mt. Hood area and if so, what elevation?

      Thank you for watching and your comment. Yes, morels are still popping on the east side of the cascades, along with King boletes. You should be looking above 4,000’ in June and east of Government Camp. Congrats on your finds!

    Great video as always. Very much enjoying them! Any intrest in guiding a father and young son on an adventure? Or swapping my spots (onx pins) in eastern oregon? Willing to trade services or venison and salmon as well. Lots of options if interested. Keep up the good work 👍

      Thanks for watching and your interest. I do lead guided group hunts through Airbnb Experiences in the Spring and Fall. However, this Spring I had limited time and didn't have enough time to host any hunts. However, I will have hunts in the Fall.
      In the meantime, I'd be happy to point you in the right direction. Send me an email at Dadventurernw@gmail.com.

    Do you think a spot on the southeast side of mount hood at around 3200-3400 ft elevation will be good for this weekend?

    • @DADventurerNW
      @DADventurerNW  4 месяца назад

      Thanks for watching and your question. If it were me, I’d stay below 3,000 ft. SE mount hood should be great at 2500-3000’.

      Yes, but not nearly as many. 4500’ for me.

      @@crystalrobbins5219 Spring Kings are popping all over the east side of the cascades right now, in the same habitat as morels. Don’t hang your bag up just yet!

      @DADventurerNW ok ok....I won't just yet. We were keeping an eye out for them also. We were around 3k ft but couldn't find a good route higher. But I'm still learning that side of the mountain since stumbling across your channel. I had heard that kings start high and move down. At some point, there has to be a good "meeting in the middle" right? Load up on king boletes and morels! Nom nom! I live closer to the Tillamook Forest and know if very well. It's good to take adventures to the unknown also!

      @DADventurerNW  2 месяца назад +1

      @@crystalrobbins5219 I’ve heard the same about Kings starting high, but in my experience they start lower and move up. 3800-4500 is about the right elevation for them now.
      Tillamook Forest is one of my favorites for Fall mushrooms!
