- This is the opening titles and closing credits of series/season 4 of 'Mind Your Language', made in 1985. This is Episode 10 of the series, titled 'Everybody's Out', where the students decide to form their own union and come out on strike. Full episodes from season 4 will be uploaded shortly.
Season 1 to 3 were sooo good. Season 4 looks like an opening act to a corn scene.

@@aryal1251 That’s what this is - it was made some years after the original three series - not all ITV regions aired it - some regions showed only a handful of episodes!

Farouk is definitely not as funny or charming as Ali was.
Dino Shafeek (who played Ali Nadeem) passed away in 1984, while the 4th season was aired in 1986.
There was some magic in the first 3 season. I loved it for so many years
If I remember correctly, another studio took over after the show was over, and this is the result.
It was all magic, not some. Season 4 was all rubbish from the first second.

@@mohdazmi10Ali (Dino Shafeek) had unfortunately passed away in 1984 and Danielle (Francoise Pascal) refused to reprise the role of Danielle.

Ali, Sid, Zoltan, and Taro were already passed away when they shoot season 4.
Taro (Robert Lee) was still alive when season 4 was filmed in 1985, he died in December '86, but was too unwell to reprise his role.
What about max Jamila Chung su lee Danielle what about them??
@@jitjuniorlyngdoh4140 They declined to return for season 4, either because they were busy working on other projects or they felt it was not something they wanted to return to.
@Cyrus Irani Not really, as Michelle was only introduced when Francoise Pascal (Danielle) declined to return for series 4, same as Fu Wong replacing Taro and Maria replacing Max, so they wouldn't all have been in it together.
I wonder why there wasn't an African representation in the whole series
Let us remember and enjoy the three first series. All good things come to an end...

Just found this absolute gem till S3 after having a glimpse of S4 I'm crystal clear why this was abruptly ghosted, entirely.
Cancelled, ghosted means something else.

After the classic first three seasons, watching this is shocking! Even the great actors (Ms. Courtney, Barry Evans, Giovanni Coppello, Ranjit Singh and Juan Sarvantez) from the original series could not do anything to save this series. I can see that the script writing is bad, the sound track is terrible and there is hardly any comedy here.
It was made on a much lower budget. They couldn't afford a studio with a live audience, so it was filmed in an empty office building and canned laughter dubbed on afterwards, which badly affected the actors' timing and delivery.

I have researched and found out that the episodes of season 4 were burned due to a fire in their studio. Episodes do exist of Seson 4 but you cant find it anywhere except this one
I found cd from a trip to India 😂. Some doesn't work anymore.
Season 1 to 3 will always be the best because it's not only the casts but the old classroom plays apart too! And the opening music !
Made by TRI Films Ltd, it wasn't commissioned by any of the ITV companies, it was Albert Moses' project to try and revive the series. You can't really call it the '4th series' because it was made by an independent production company and sold to the very few ITV companies that broadcast it, only a few of those broadcast the full series. LWT who produced the original, didn't want it. Made for international sale to the countries that were desperate for more Mind Your Language and made in Uxbridge Technical College, not a TV studio. It was a revival series, not a 4th series.
It was a continuation of the series with some characters and storylines continuing on from the previous episodes, so certainly qualifies as being called a 4th series. It wasn't made at Uxbridge Technical College, by the way, they only did one exterior shot there. It was filmed in an office building near Waterloo Station.
@@demon27dan I'm I correct in remembering something about industrial action by the ITV networks because it was made by an independent company. I think it's debut got delayed for a few weeks because of this.
You can call it anything you want, it was bad! Doesn't matter if it's 4th season or not it wanted to be MYL but failed.
@@remjet2512I wondered why the series got delayed, I should have known it was the unions having a tantrum. It was eventually shown at 4.00 pm on Sundays by Central, but I don't think they showed all the episodes.

The opening theme sounds like the the 'put on hold' music from an Indian call centre. I saw some of this in early 1986 on Granada TV. They broadcast the whole series. I don't remember it being THAT bad. I remember my dad commenting on the production quality, saying that the lighting produced too many shadows and that it wasn't BBC standard. I never even noticed. I remember seeing the lady who plays Michelle pop up on The Price Is Right (or Play Your Cards Right).
Good shows are always ruined by someone or something 😢 very rare are the shows preserved the original charm till end.
Season 4 looks weird compared to the first three seasons. They had Ranjeet, Juan, Giovanni, and Anna return but I miss the other 6 original students from season 1-3. Where did the other 6 go? And I also miss Sidney as the school janitor and Miss Gladys as the tea lady.
Oh, I just remembered… Dino Shafeek passed away in 1984 so he wasn’t able to return.
Dino Shafeek (Ali) and Tommy Godfrey (Sidney) had died. Robert Lee (Tago) was too unwell to return and passed away the following year. Francoise Pascal (Danielle), Kevork Malikyan (Max), and Jamilla Massay (Jamilla) declined to return, Pik-Sen Lim (Su-Lee) was busy making another TV series, and Iris Sadler (Gladys) had retired from acting.

Just from these little clips, it looks more watchable than the one Series 4 episode that's been floating around for awhile. Not up to the standard of the original of course, but not a total trainwreck either.
I think you have it right, Dario - not as good as the original series (with a lower budget and many cast changes, that wasn't unexpected), but also not the disaster a lot of people who haven't actually seen it claim it to be.

Greetings from Australia. I have been after this season for over 20 years. Do you believe there is a plausible reason as to why it has never seen the light of day? I was in contact with Albert Moses before he passed away and he did mention to me that a potential release was in the works but it came to nothing. Season 4 was broacast in the UK and sold to a number of countries around the world. However, the production company went into bankruptcy shortly afterwards and the master tapes were seized as a company asset. They've long been lost. I have 11 episodes that were taped from the UK TV broadcast by someone who worked on the production, and am on the trail of the remaining 2 episodes.

@@aryal1251 oh get a hold of yourself!!! Don't even bother, just look at these clips and you can tell you are in for disappointment! This isn't the same MYL! There was a good reason why many didn't get to see it, because it was not worth the tape they recorded it on!

@JC maybe, but I want to find that out for myself. Yeah I did see that one episode was uploaded, but it's in crap quality so I didn't do much more than flick through it. This channel claims to have 11/13 eps and plans to upload only once the remaining 2 eps are located.. so fingers crossed

Season 4 is not worth watching! It's really boring and unfunny 😭, first 3 seasons were totally fine. The reason is most of the original actors were absent in 4th season, and unfortunately 3 of them passed away. And yes there's not much of the season 4 in internet. If u are lucky you may find one or two episodes but rest of those are not available

@@darkgolden7069 yeah, he was. In fact jamila, Su Lee, Danielle and some others were alive too but they didn't appear in season 4. Imo they just could've stopped the production of season 4 since a lot of original characters were missing. I've only watched a single episode of s4 and I ended up hating it!

@demon27dan Greetings from Aotearoa New Zealand :) I remember TVNZ screening this series once (only) in the late 80s and was wondering what the season 4 was like - do you have the last two episodes? A guy I went to school with told me what happened in the series finale but I never saw it myself...would be great to see it! Thanks :)

The writing has potential, the new characters though just feel meh.
This looks terrible. Just the main theme looks lame and boring. I know that this is a combination of opening and closing scenes, but it is very cheap, and the new characters don't have the magic and uniqueness of the original cast at all.
It is a big pity that season 4 was not properly released, due to an alleged fire of the studio, which I do not know whether to trust it or not, didn't do any digging, just read some comments about it here on RUclips. Yet season 3 seemed to be hanged on a cliffhanger, without some conclusion. I guess it was an intention to leave it open for another season.
I really wish there was another season, coz I will truly miss it, given the fact that I just finished watching all 3 seasons in HQ here on RUclips.

Why season 4 was on on such a low budget? This sitcom's ending is mysterious, just like Mr. Brown's death.

I have 11 of the 13 currently and, as soon as I complete the season, I will upload them. The season had a low budget as it was made independently without the support or facilities of a major television company.

@@forwatching_video Times had changed and, by the mid 80s, the MYL brand of humour had fallen out of fashion. No TV broadcasters were interested in funding the production of a 4th season, so the producers fundly it independently themselves (hence the low budget), hoping to then sell it to broadcasters around the world. It didn't sell as well as the producers had hoped and they ended up losing a lot of money on the deal.

As far as I know, this season was made & broadcasted in 1985 and Ali Nadeem died in 1984, he was a great comdeian from Dhaka, Bangladesh, was our pride. Sydney(the cleaner) also died in the same year. Also some other actors like taro nagajumi left uk Anna smith, su lee didn't act,so the show became kinda dull.

@@shafiq1537 They were taped from the original television broadcast in the UK in 1985 by a member of the production team. He still had the VHS tapes which he kindly provided me with so I could make copies. I have been restoring them, improving the sound and picture quality the best I can. He only had 11 of the 13 episodes, however, so I still need to track down the remaining 2 before the series is complete.

Season 4 was made on a much lower budget. They couldn't afford to film in a TV studio like the original LWT run, this was filmed in an actual office block near Waterloo station in London.
I can only watch till season 3. I can't bear to watch the 4th.. too cringe and sad 😭
