JFK once paraphrased the Greek definition of happiness as “the full use of your powers along lines of excellence.” This is what comes to mind as I watch not only your videos but how you put them together, making it look easier than it actually is. You’re putting yourself out there and taking us along in the process and I’m really thankful that you do what you do. I think you meet the Greeks’ standard of excellence and happiness.

Well done Gabe, hope you enjoyed Erbil. 1- There is mini bus for transportation between Erbil to Sulaymaniyah, it was better if you ask the hotel or locals to find the bus station 2- You will find beers in modern side of Erbil not in the down town. 3- Yeah even locals here we have problem with Airport Taxi its too expensive, it's always better to find someone to pick up from airport. 4- The weather for locals is cold, thats why you didn't find a t-shirt :)

As for t-shirts it is going into the colder season there, so perhaps they only be available when the seasons change and it is again headed to hotter weather.

HEY GABRIEL, I'M ENJOYING YOUR VISIT TO IRAQ BECAUSE I'VE NEVER BEEN IN THAT PART OF THE WORLD AND I DON'T KNOW IF I EVER WILL BE. I HAVE A TENDENCY TO STAY IN PARTS OF THE WORLD THAT ARE A LITTLE MORE SAFE FOR AN OLD GUY LIKE ME. LOL. I'M 72 AND DON'T GET AROUND SO GOOD ANYMORE. I DON'T LIKE THE IDEA OF GETTING OLD BUT THE ALTERNATIVE IS JUST TO PERMANENT FOR ME AT THIS TIME. I LIKE LIVING TOO MUCH. LOL
I CAUGHT THE REMARK ABOUT THE ALCOHOL AND I HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT SOMEWHERE YOU COULD FIND A BEER. I KNOW THAT IT IS FROWNED UPON IN MOST MUSLIM COUNTRIES BUT THERE IS USUALLY SOMEONE BREAKING THE LOCAL RULES. JUST LIKE IN ISRAEL YOU CAN FIND PORK IF YOU LOOK FOR IT.
I WISH YOU LUCK MY FRIEND. BE SAFE.

Gabriel, did you travel into Kurdish Iraq as an American, or a Canadian? Do you think about that when visiting countries that may not be friendly to Americans? Also, natives seem to be able to single you out as non-native even before you speak. What is it that gives you away? Your height? Your clothes? Just wondering when people pass by and say “hello” to you. “Go Jackets.”

My Canadian passport is expired, so I only use my US passport. However I told people I was Canadian on this trip, as you'll see in the coming videos. I don't think it mattered too much either way though. As for being non-Iraqi, I'm sure it's obvious to them in a split second.
