I've been in Erbil, it's honestly not bad. The atmosphere is very heavily influenced by the West. Women are safe to walk around in whatever clothing, though some choose their traditional garb. The city is safe enough, that some businesses lock up at night, and leave new product outside without fear of theft. I've been to the family mall a few times, which is a nice place to visit and buy various items. Inside we found a local gym on the 3rd floor (or 2nd, can't remember), a grocery store, regular goods store, and a store similar to a Home Depot. Hey Dan, since most kurds here keep telling you kurdistan is not iraqi, i thought its best to inform you about their history, kurds are not arabs, they never were, in fact they are distributed in some countries including Iran, Turkey and Iraq. In Iraq specifically, they inhabit the north of Iraq, meaning iraqi lands, within years they take their salaries, food and economy from the south and middle of Iraq, but they got too greedy that now they want to call themselves a country. The audacity of some kurds to tell the world that they’re not Iraqi is beyond me and its rude after all they live on our economy. If they want to be a country then they can go out of Iraqi lands and declare themselves as a fully independant country no one will stop them, but they cant cause who would fund them? So please ignore what they’re saying and welcome to IRAQI kurdistan
I’m a Kurd and I completely agree with you! Finally someone with common sense! It’s so painful to watch my people claim someone’s land as their own and ridicule the Iraqis by telling them the land they STOLE from them doesn’t belong to them . We stole all 4 countries land and want it to be an ‘independent’ country and play victim when people tell us we can’t , it’s sickening :/ .
Hey, thanks a lot for the comment! I spent 6 months in Erbil and spoke with many people about the political situation and know it can be very complicated.
@@danvoznak it’s very complicated indeed, but i tried to tell you the truth that they for some reason ignore and refuse to acknowledge, i mean it’s pretty clear from simple things like the map and even from football, i once watched a football match in Erbil and the kurds were supporting Iraq in the olympics because they don’t have a team on their own, everything tells them that they aren’t a country. The SIMPLE truth is that Iraq is a very varied country, meaning it has different religions and ethnicities, it has Turkmens, Kurds, Arabs and even jews, muslims, christians, sabians and many more ancient religions, Iraq contained them all for years. Kurdistan is a province in Iraq.
