It's crazy but I never thought about it until I saw this clip and how TK broke it down:
Back when comedians, TV shows, etc. would make fun of the gay community it was during a time when homosexuals were not as "advertised" as they are today. "Closeted" truly was best way to describe their lifestyle.
Currently, anyone who openly speaks out or is marked as condemning the gay community gets punished and I'm talking career ruining levels of consequences. So, the people who perhaps 15 years or so ago would've made a career of jokes about homosexuals and perhaps even the "Me Too" people of that time are literally as "closeted" with their thoughts and opinions out of fear of having their lives/careers ruined today as the gay people were as "closeted" back then out of fear of people not accepting who they are.
Damn...that's some heavy stuff right there and shows how a decade or so will literally flip cultural norms around!
