Hmmm….. you do know just about anything you take that’s got chemicals in it that’s not naturally-made has side effects!!! You weigh out the benefits and side effects as the warnings on the box are always going to be there, but it doesn’t mean everyone who takes it will experience every symptom listed.
Please understand the concept of why ALL side effects are listed and why not everyone taking any medication will be affected by it.

My doctor prescribed Cipro for an UTI that he found in tests. I did not consider it a serious issue as apart from cloudy urine and occasional urgent need to urinate I was asymptomatic, kidney function was good and no other signs of infection. The lab tests found it was just common E. Coli that any antibiotic could remedy. I was never warned of any potential Cipro reactions and luckily, I had no problems.

I was a veterinary technician and had a reaction to Augmentin, so every time I was bitten I was given levofloxacin and doxycycline. I never had any type of reaction until I was given levofloxacin and climdamycin, in 2008, which gave me pseudomembranous colitis. My doctor ignored me and I went 2 weeks before I saw another doctor who couldn’t believe I drove to my appointment, as my BP was pretty low. I recovered with no ill effects, but I was basically bed ridden for 2 weeks, couldn’t work or care for my family. My heart goes out to those who have suffered permanent damage from these antibiotics.

Clindamycin did the same to me in college. I was vomiting & 💩 blood. I always put it down under allergic reactions even though it’s considered an “adverse reaction”. Modern medicine can be a godsend but with any medication there is a risk of adverse reactions unfortunately.

The next doctor I spoke with was the on call doctor, as this was the weekend and I now spiked another fever, still had the same symptoms almost two weeks later, and was told I had a virus. That Monday I called my doctor’s office and said I needed to be seen, the receptionist said she could get me in but it wouldn’t be with my doctor, which at that point I did not wish to see. The doctor I saw checked my orthostatic blood pressure and was quite concerned. He actually looked in my patient record that included my visit to the ER when I had recently been bit by a dog and given those specific antibiotics. So the third doctor actually did his job.

@@livefree6147 It's a long story but I will try to nutshell. He had bladder cancer. The treatments gave him dozens of bladder infection which were treated almost exclusively with cipro. He also had RA. Cipro is specifically contraindicated for patients with joint disorders. It melts their joints.
It destroyed his knees over the course of a couple years. He beat the cancer, had a clean scan the week before he died. But a month before he died he had a bilateral knee replacement because he had lost the ability to walk due to the cipro.
He experienced a post surgical pulmonary embolism a month into his healing process. So because of his doctors pushing a known to be dangerous drug he spent the last year of his life in more pain than he had during his cancer treatment, had the most painful surgery to recover from then died anyway.
He *begged* for different antibiotics. He knew what was happening to him. He saw the end coming and he was scared. I pray every day that God see it all and gives those doctors a taste of their own medicine. Literally.

Unfortunately, my mother passed away due to a physicians misdiagnosis, which has made me hyper vigilant about having a medical procedure, or taking any medication just because a doctors prescribes it. I had a UTI five years ago, and my doctor wrote an RX for Cipro. I researched the medication, and based on that asked for a different medication. I was told everyone takes it for UTI’s so don’t be concerned! Needless to say I changed doctors, and was given a different medication. Had it not been for my heartbreaking life lesson with my mother the same thing could have happened to me. I had welts the size ping pong balls all over my body, I could hardy walk, vomiting, my then boyfriend took me back to the ER, where I was given an common steroid injection. (I can't remember the name of it) I still have brain fog. Turns out I had a "rare" reaction to that as well, but it took a long time to wear off. I became psychotic. It's listed as a "rare" side effect.
It was all a living hell for me. I read every possibility side effect for every thing something is given to me before I take it.
I do it for my loved ones as well.
Only one other time was I given something, forced to actually which was probably illegal. It caused my jaw to lock up, and I had bad tachycardia.
I'm so exhausted from being misdiagnosed, to almost killed from medications.
When my jaw was locked it also broke eight of my teeth.
I tried fighting the hospital, but it was beyond my means.

I'm certain there are hundreds of thousands of others, if not more, that suffer from malpractice and even die because of the 'care' of 'medical professionals.' In general life expectancy is decades longer than it used to be however in the last few years it has declined. Not due to bad doctors, yes there are plenty of them, but due to poor lifestyle. Most botched procedures would never have been needed in the first place if the individual would just eat and exercise properly and not be overweight.

Before I became a RN, I had a surgery which resulted in a possible infection and was prescribed a course of Levaquin. I took it every day at the same time, and within an hour I was a mess. I became very emotional, had strange intrusive troubling thoughts, and was kind of out of my mind. It took about three days to figure out it was the Levaquin causing this. Fast forward, I’m a RN and since my bad Levaquin experience I would pay special attention to my patients after I hung their IV Levaquin. The change in mentality that happened to me happened to many of my patients. Some, not all, would become distraught or emotional or very sad after Levaquin given. I reported this to their Dr’s, and was always ignored. Over the years, I told any Dr I could about my experience and observations of patients on Levaquin, none of cared. Not listing cascading trouble it caused me except all over body pain at times was excrutiating. Tendons had trouble holding neck, shoulders, knees, hips, wrist, elbows, fingers together. Exteme exhaustion, brain fog, you become your own full time job to get better. Floroquinolones are supposed to be prescibed only with life threatening illness other meds failed. Many Drs act like they don't know that. Do they or don't they. Why aren't Dr's trained better. One of my own Drs called me asking how I got better when his own wife was floxxed. Everyone who knew us, said to go on disability but I kept thinking I'd be back to normal. I'm 90% back most of the time. But never fully like before still dealing with issues. I’ve taken Cipro for UTI/Kidney infections in years past and was always fine, worked faster than most other antibiotics. Since I don’t get the usual early symptoms for UTIs it’s usually on its way to my Kidneys before I realize anything’s wrong. So docs usually want to go with something hard hitting, to prevent the bacteria from fully invading my kidneys and causing irreversible damage, but one that also isn’t going to cause a yeast infection like far too make antibiotics do. And Cipro has been the goto for that, because it’s strong and fast acting. I’m so grateful now thats thats been my experience but I will be asking for a safer alternative in the future.

the doctor prescribe something else. I guess that saved my life. Over the years, I've always made it a point to tell doctors to put on my records to never give me this. The reactions I've CONSISTENTLY gotten from doctors have clearly indicated a lack of understanding WHY there is a problem with it. Are they even trained themselves??? Why are medical doctors not being properly informed.

If you had actually listened to the video you would have heard, that there was a strong warning from the FDA, meaning that doctors should described it in serious cases e.g. when there is an infection that can not be treated by lesser risky antibiotics. Furthermore, it was wrongly described by a doctor. So maybe think before you write uneducated comments in your childish conspiratoral typological style.

Could eat, walk, headaches, blurry vision whole body was hurting. I started throwing up. Throwing up even water. I ended up in icu for 7 days with my kidneys shutting down. The Dr told my husband I was lucky I made it to the hospital in time. I would have died. My blood pressure was dropping fast. I knew it was the medication. The hospital took both medications from my husband and said they were going to run some tests and see if they could have caused my kidney failure but they never told us anything about the results. I had some type of virus that turned into the flu & then bronchitis. I caught it during the week of Halloween. Sick for month & 1 week. It took me 3 months to get back to normal. Sometimes I still feel off. I'm scared my kidneys are going to shut down on me again and it's going to be bad. I know the signs now and I'm aware. My blood pressure is still low but it's not dangerous low like it was. It was in the 60s and dropping fast. I was hooked up to the heart monitor and I had a pik line in my neck. It was a nightmare. I couldn't breathe. I was getting the highest amount of 100% oxygen. I was so scared I was going to die. I have a weak immune system, low very low potassium and magnesium levels due to 8 intestinal surgeries 10 years ago bk in 2013. I'm disabled and I'm only 39years old. I'm lucky to be alive. I was Floxed almost 10 years ago. When I was able to go back to the doctor and told him about it He had a strange look on his face that I realized later was fear. Fear that I would sue I guess. I haven’t totally recovered. I still have pain in my knees and Achilles tendenosis.

I have chronic pain in my left Achilles tendon and now my right one is doing the same thing. I can't get my doctors to listen to me about this NOT being tendonitis, cause I've been this way for almost 3 years with my ankle. "That happens when you start moving around more than usual." !!!! I was moving from Kansas to Missouri and loading up boxes when I felt my tendon give a horrid twang and start burning (while I was taking Avelox) nobody is listening to me. This has been going on for almost 3 years and they want me to start physical therapy, everything in my body is telling me that's a bad idea that this is something PT isn't meant for.

I am fighting stage 4 metastatic breast cancer & in Dec 2022 came down with a bad UTI also. With a fever of 103*f I went to the ER. After numerous tests I was prescribed ciprofloxacin. After taking a couple of doses my lips , 1 side of my face swelled & drooped. It looked like I has Bells Palsey! I IMMEDIATELY called the ER & my local pharmacist. They said I was having a bad reaction to it. Told me to stop taking it & prescribed another drug.
I took pictures of my face to document what had happened. That was so scarey!!
I have it in my medical records now not to prescribe cipro to me.
Its comforting to know Im not alone. But mad that big pharma & Drs prescribe this as the 1st drug for UTI.
Especially when you said it has a black box warning.
I pray you get stronger & are able to get your life back. Something needs to be done so this doesn't happen to others.

Not true for this drug! I was given this medication for a uti back in 1997 and with the second dose , I had a seizure while driving. Luckily I was going slow and only hit a curb but to this day, I still have central nervous system damage from it.

I was given a combination of Cipro and Flagyl twice in a 6mth period to treat mild cases of diverticulitis. I have never had a medication make me feel so ill…as though I was dying. I was bedridden for two weeks in the weakest state in my life. It took me 6-9 months to repair my gut microbiome. Cipro should NEVER be the first line of defense for a mild/moderate infection. My doctor never warned me about the possible side effects or explained what a black box warning was.

    • @StaffieGames
      @StaffieGames 23 дня назад

Cipro and Flagyl are BOTH black box medications, you are lucky it wasn’t worse. Flagyl gave me nerve damage while on it in the hospital…..Drs tried to deny. It’s scary they try to protect themselves instead of caring for the patient. They need to go back and read their code of ethics!!!

Thanks for covering this!! There needs to be a huge investigation into these medications and the people they harm and why they’re allowed to be prescribed. Too many doctors simply don’t look at warnings, interactions etc, nor do they seem to care. I’ve seen that myself. Lots of comments here about doctors who didn’t care
