I was prescribed Metformin several years ago when my doctor checked my A1C and it was slightly high. My brother in law was on it and hated the way it made him feel. I took it for about a week and just stopped taking it. I read several bad things about it and decided to just try and eat better and exercise more. I take berberine and gymnema now and A1C is doing fine.
The pharmacist told me this the moment I went to pick up my first prescription. I decided against taking it. It makes no sense for it to eat muscle mass when you need that for longevity and health (mobility, inflammation, etc.).
I take half a tablet , prediabetic. No side effects so far. But I don't have the intention to use it the rest of my life. Just a bit of help now. I had very bad side effects of Berberine
so, for those of us who need metformin, what is the alternative? already carnivore, so little to none carbs, yet my glucose levels remain 130-140 daily.
So I was at my ortho pedicure surgeon office … sadly I need two knee replacements .. I have about 30 lbs to lose I told him since more diabetic I may be able to get a GLP1 med … now this guy should know it means less muscle mass if I take it… nope he was fine with me taking it but said I’d have to be off if it got a couple months before knees woukd ge replaced . I’m bone on bone can’t do much lower body muscle building . I will do as much upper body as I can .. I’m beginning to wonder about this surgeon ….
So, should we take TRT with exercise (muscle and cardio) with a low car diet? Is that not the exact muscle builder for those who just cant build. This weight loss issue is not a calories in out for the most past( unless you are obese past 30%). Its hormonal
I’ve been pre-diabetic for past 8 years using metformin. My a1c during this time has ranged from 5.7 to 6 and sugar levels at 99 or lower. I want to stop this drug! I think it’s why I can’t lose weight. I’m 73 and do exercise and eat healthy. I’ve never monitored my blood sugar levels at home. Only every 4 months at doctor office for blood tests. Maybe I can leave this drug behind!
@@charyleewood1200 Just soak 1 spoon Fenugreek seeds in one glass of water at night and in the morning just drink that water empty stomach. Just do this continuously for 1-2 months you will start losing weight and your sugar level will drop down.
What about the recent stories: Metformin is a drug that has been called a "wonder drug" because of its potential health benefits beyond treating diabetes.???
@@AdamJStoryDC LOL, No I work out like a beast , but I do have a metformin prescription and I hear the longevity gurus recommending to take a gram a day. I don't actually take the metformin since I brought down my HA!C to 5.2 through diet and exercise.

Could berberine be a good substitute for metformin?

@@AdamJStoryDC I do, hard. I've tried berberine, stopped the metformin, my glucose went to 160 for a few days, then back on metformin. thanks
