  • India and China are locked in the world’s biggest territorial dispute, with Beijing even claiming control of an entire Indian state. At least 20 Indian soldiers were killed in the most recent clashes, and experts warn that the two giant neighbours could end up in a war. The West is paying little attention.
    In Part 2 of “India’s Choice,” a special series on the geopolitical dilemmas facing India, DW’s Richard Walker explains just how dangerous the threat from China has become - with the help of one of India’s leading military experts - and the choices facing the leadership in Delhi in how to deal with it.
    Featuring interviews with Jay Panda, Vice President of India’s ruling BJP, Shashi Tharoor of the opposition Congress, military expert Sushant Singh of the Centre for Policy Research, former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, Tobias Lindner, Minister of State in the German Foreign Office, Lisa Curtis, former Senior Director, US National Security Council, and Garima Mohan of the German Marshall Fund.

      The biggest duty of the western media is to create chaos, create contradictions and incite hatred. Now German media are worried that India and China stand together, so they re-amplify some contradictions between China and India, and stop the unity between China and India. They can't wait to stop the peace between China and India. Westerners want to see the war between China and India, once it happens, which will hit China, but westerners never care about the lives of Indians.

    • @globalanti-hegemonicallian200

      Western countries, led by the United States, are trying to sow discord among other countries and prevent their unity and cooperation. The United States is trying to create chaos among other countries and cover up all the chaos within the American border with the international community. The evil expansionism and imperialism of the United States and the West are prevalent, and extreme belligerence and advocating violence have become the mainstream thoughts of the whole western world.

    There is no point in US pretending to be India's ally while having immense trade relationships with China because that's financially convenient for USA. If you really want to strengthen India to counter China, increase trade with India, instead of using the conflict to only expand military relations and sell weapons. That's the reason why the relations with US is still lukewarm

    • @davidc9214
      @davidc9214 2 года назад

      Why should US support India when India supports no one? Selfish people should be left alone. India should defend itself ALONE from China. One thing for sure, Russia will not help India against China because Russia is loyal to China, not India. 😂

      @@davidc9214 Well we have been doing that for a while now, as there was no one supporting India except Russia so far....we have seen several wars with both Pakistan and China, and the only thing US did was, supply arms to Pakistan, position nuclear equipped ships at Indian Ocean, deny India geopositioning data of cross border infiltration, sanction India for developing its own nuclear weapon, threatened Russia with sanction to stop them from sharing technology with India for developing cryogenic rocket engine.
      So there is no point in asking why India didn't allign with anyone in a war to protect territory with nuclear deposits where prominent US politicians have invested (Biden son)....
      Why would Indian get into some one else's war, especially when that someone had till recently a hostile track record against India?First let's see if USA does anything to redeem itself for its past positions and can prove that it actually do indeed see India as an ally.
      Biden himself was the author of the bill that threatened sanctions on Russia for sharing space tech with India...Why should India join a war to protect that same Biden's nuclear resource interest, and fight against a historically consistent ally that has helped India immensely to make technical advancement as well as against Chinese aggression?
      You are telling Indian to fight against the same nation that has helped India to check China so far, that to by saying we should trust the country who has always sided against Indian interest to counter China. Russia has already done for India, what you claim India should trust US would do in future, especially when USA's track record as a dependable ally is extremely questionable

If their is a war between China and Russia...Russia actually have a reason to side with India to get its rightful land back from China, meanwhile it wouldn't want India to approach USA because that means US defense would then expand as far till the Andaman islands. Russia wouldn't want the only thing between it and USA, to be the land grabbing China.

      @aleenaprasannan2146 2 года назад +41

      @@killercell2472 If there is anything consistent in geopolitical history, it's that allying for one war is never a guarantee for future wars. USA is not going to get to attack Russia from Chinese territory whether Russia sides with China or not. However, if Russia does not aid India in resisting China it is a sure shot that India will approach USA and USA is waiting eagerly just for that. That will not only bring US military right under Russia's nose and it will also force Russia to be much more compliant to with China. Having only one shaky neighbor to rely on is disempowering even for Russia.

      Today's western news always tells why India should allign with West and not Russia all that BS...
      Let me clarify,
      1. Why tf west thinking that India seeks help of Russia in case of Chinese conflict? No, it doesn't! India needs some basic technology and technical co-operation, which is only offered by Russia. Like hypersonic missile technology, brahmos missile, crucial arms and modifications at cheap cost, (but eventually India will be self reliant in these) and also Russian technical assistance will help India becoming self reliant.
      2. What Russia benefits from Indian self reliance? Actually when India sells weapons developed by joint venture,Russia will get 40-49% of profits. And India will be a very good manufacturing base of weapons.
      3. Russia rather wants Indian influence in Central Asia rather than Chinese influence which will affect them badly. (China is eating Russian weapons sells).
      4. Russia will provide India cheap energy and minerals reliably and will be a significant market for goods export.
      5. India's bargaing power in Indo-Russian friendship is more than in India-west friendship.
      6. Russia will help India becoming as par with China by becoming self reliant in many core sectors and they themselves will benefit from it.

      Only if you ignore the empires of France, Spain, Britain, Mongolia and ROME. Also India and China both had many periods of fractured kingdoms, that it would make no sense to pretend were solid economic zones as those states often warred amongst themselves. For example, the Three Kingdoms period, the Five Dynasties and 10 kingdoms period, the Summer and Autumn period's Seven Kingdoms and pre-Mongolian Apocalypse's three concurrent dynasties...in China alone. India's history is similar with large empires falling into warring fragments, mass migrations and invasions leading to disparate factions that persist to this day. In fact, Hindustan is currently broken into 3 countries that are economically distinct and China still has Taiwan separate.

    DW News: You have completely missed the point.
    Tibet is NOT part of China.
    Tibet, a peaceful sovereign nation in its own right, was forcibly invaded and colonised by China in the 1950, forcing the Dali Lama into excile, while the whole world stood idly by much to the shame of the United Nations 🇺🇳.
    Therefore China has NO lawful claim to ’South Tibet’.
    Had the UN 🇺🇳 back in the 1950’s forcibly kicked China out of Tibet and restored Tibet’s international borders, we wouldn’t be having all the problems we’re now facing in the Indo-Pacific region with Chins. And Russia would have not dared to invade Ukraine.
    The World 🌍 is now reaping what it sowed! ☹️

    I do not see India as a weaker here, as in case of any Chinese experiments, we can establish a blockade of mellaca strait and strait of hormus and baar-al-madan strait which can simply stop China its oil supply.
    Once you cut oil from any economy, the economy will be done the so called 5 time India's GDP will be 1/4 of it.
    The question is can we do that? Partially yes!!!
    India has capabilities to establish a blockade but risk will be very higher and there woun't be a good ROI of that, so it is the last resort that we should use. Chinese navy do not have supply chains established but India does with US, France, and Russia (Soon) we can use these countries bases for supplies which can further increase Naval capabilities. Also we have many naval bases like Singapore base, vietnam base, Seychelles base, Andaman base all these bases are strategic in nature couple with Diago garcia and freedon island china will be f cked.
