A big reason why school boards across the country are being questioned about their decisions. As a retired educator I always recommend parents home school themselves or through co-ops. They will be more satisfied. Your reporters did a great job.

Most members of school boards were never teachers. They are elected by “you” the public. They are a stepping stone to a political career and /or marketing scheme for their business.

We were both bullied the entire time from teachers and parents. It was one of the worst times of our lives and here we were just honestly trying to help. Adults can be just as awful as kids.

There are hundreds of school boards across the country that need to be recalled. It is going to be up to every parent and citizens within the districts to raise the alarm and replace them.
Sometimes behavior degrades on a board if it is not reigned in by the chairperson. Once it is allowed it can go over the top it only stops when the board is dismissed.

I complained about serving our kids, out dated foods for lunch. They looked at me as though, I was an idiotic whistle blowing Karen. They angrily shut me down and refused to answer my questions after exposing their scam on our children. Get rid of them. Put parents on the board, switching them out every year.
I think switching them out every year would be a great idea so that power doesn’t get to any of their heads and that can assure the energy to remain the same throughout their entire period on the board so that they can’t try to find shortcuts or get bored (like the guy playing solitaire) of making sure our children are safe and getting the best education possible.

My mom was a secretary for the State Board of Education about 40 years ago. She was not a member of any board. But I would be in her office a few times, at the end of the work-day. It was like any other institution. Full of a lot of self-important people who seemed to be most interested in their own personal "empire" rather than what was in the interests of the children/parents. They were so out of touch.
As a Utah mom we have LOVED homeschooling our kids the last 5 years, and I strongly encourage any parents who are considering it… to dive in!! It’s so rewarding. Children are naturally curious and love to learn! There is an incredible homeschool community in Utah and government schools are NOT the only option!
I've seen this so often. They're minor people who all of a sudden get some power and then abuse it. When my kids were adolescents I didn't tolerate nor did they get involved with "fighting" in text messages or on social media. It's juvenile. And these people have the responsibility of childrens well-being and education in their hands. And they can't even conduct themselves as adults.
I worked at a school where I was the class t.a. for a group of 3 teachers and they constantly talked to and about each other just like this. They also got into screaming, swearing matches in the hall on a regular basis. They all wanted me in their classroom all day without caring about the other 2 and they regused to communicate about my schedule so I was always scheduled to be 3 places at once and obviously couldn't accomodate everyone. Any attempts to get it resolved just resulted in more drama. I went to school admin for help and got fired over it. That group ran off 8 different t.a. people in the course of one school year. That's just ONE of the many issues they had there. School admins and board members are a real joke sometimes. They let it get to their head way too much

Female heavy environments have a lot of backstabbing, screaming and drama, whether it be private or public organizations. Women in the work place act like they are in Jr High School, their entire careers. Govt organizations are the worst since every one of them are diversity hires. I've had more than one boss that came in late, went on break, went to lunch and then left early, never actually working at all throughout the day. That's why govt agencies hire temps.. Somebody has to do the work the diversity hires refuse to do...
I remember back in the 80s, one of the local ham radio operators in a small town in Upstate New York intercepted the home phones the cordless phones of most of the town and there were teachers who said horrible things about their students but the best calls were from the mayor making fun of the people that lived in the town saying it was a one-horse town and he owned it and all the laws he broke and crimes he committed and when the recordings were leaked to the press he used his cell phone which was also intercepted to try to buy a hitman to kill the ham radio operator He was never charged with anything and resigned There really are two sets of laws and one of the things the mayor said was that the laws are for the little people not for you and me He was talking with another politician when he said that
This is why school board elections should be held at the same time as general elections, every two years. Not off years and off months, but still Tuesdays. School districts BANK on the idea these off year schedules are easier to manipulate.
In my small southern town we lost track of 1.5% of our students during three months of lockdown. How many in SLC are being supervised, eating, engaged in unsafe practices whether willing or unwilling? Schools are the first line of protection for many students.

The people on the school board are not teachers, nor do they interact with students. And give me a damn break, many adults curse, it’s no big deal. They thought they were in a private situation, sending texts and emails. Be mad that the schools aren’t open, but being upset that ADULTS are using curse words in PRIVATE correspondence is asinine. The parent is just being a bitch, maybe she should spend her time educating her children instead of whining like a baby over ADULTS using “bad words”.

Trashy school teachers too! When I was young teachers were required to have standards! No tattoos, piercings, profanity, no going to clubs and drinking too much, dirty innuendos, proper attire, etc.

In a day and age when nothing is considered private, it still fascinates me that members of school boards and County board members still believe they can disdain the very people who they are supposed to be representing. Morality and just plain old respect for all has no place in these folks’ minds. It’s a commentary on the state of the Nation and American culture in general. What a pity we’ve stooped to this level. A perfect reason why rules for living such as the Ten Commandments should be reinstituted in classrooms as well as community forums.
In my experience, I have found that people who serve on boards are generally people who want to boss others around.
This is why people who truly care about the students , teachers & families rarely take or stay in positions like this. It’s people who like the power & control that end up in these positions because they don’t give a 💩about other people. They enjoy being able to say “no” & make “policy”😡

Proven study that children who are homeschooled excel much faster then those in public school that are held backTo conform with every level of class instruction that’s why there’s many kids that are homeschooled are actually enrolled in college by the time they’re in sixth grade
Khan Academy is an online school and they have many RUclips videos that with teachers that will guide students through just about any subject all the way through college

My mom was a secretary for the State Board of Education about 40 years ago. She was not a member of any board. But I would be in her office a few times, at the end of the work-day. It was like any other institution. Full of a lot of self-important people who seemed to be most interested in their own personal "empire" rather than what was in the interests of the children/parents. They were so out of touch.
As a Utah mom we have LOVED homeschooling our kids the last 5 years, and I strongly encourage any parents who are considering it… to dive in!! It’s so rewarding. Children are naturally curious and love to learn! There is an incredible homeschool community in Utah and government schools are NOT the only option!
Who is their boss?? If you don’t have someone regulating these people, they will go on like this forever. Not everyone is meant to lead.

I've seen this so often. They're minor people who all of a sudden get some power and then abuse it. When my kids were adolescents I didn't tolerate nor did they get involved with "fighting" in text messages or on social media. It's juvenile. And these people have the responsibility of childrens well-being and education in their hands. And they can't even conduct themselves as adults.
I worked at a school where I was the class t.a. for a group of 3 teachers and they constantly talked to and about each other just like this. They also got into screaming, swearing matches in the hall on a regular basis. They all wanted me in their classroom all day without caring about the other 2 and they regused to communicate about my schedule so I was always scheduled to be 3 places at once and obviously couldn't accomodate everyone. Any attempts to get it resolved just resulted in more drama. I went to school admin for help and got fired over it. That group ran off 8 different t.a. people in the course of one school year. That's just ONE of the many issues they had there. School admins and board members are a real joke sometimes. They let it get to their head way too much
Outrageous! Our government and people in charge locally are power hungry and have no morals or empathy for our people. Power corrupts! My own daughter was taught better has gone to the evil side of everything when I tried to teach her not to discriminate against people who don't believe what you do but are just physically different you or are disabled but all she sees is the BLM and Intefa terrorists who are paid to control them with lies. I have never been a racist in my life. I tried to teach her more than just anti-gay racism I tried to teach her how to discriminate against people as unfortunate as she was now. She calls me a racist because I don't support the BLM and Anrifa who are terrorists paid by the Billionaire racist who lived in Germany were killing all the Jews they could. Soros is a Jew but his father changed his name so they wouldn't know he was a Jew. Then he pretended to not be a Jew and sent his friends an many others Jews to the dearth trains telling them they were going to a safe place. Thousands were starved to death in the death camera. And they did horrible medical experience on these lockup people. Millions of people died agony threats and now they are attacking our country with a bat virus that they made possible to infect humans who had never been infected before and they are ready to put another virus to repopulate the world where they are in charge and we are their sevants! I found all dead to hear that history repeats itself but I naively believed that couldn't happen again. Boy was I was wrong. There is so much evil in the world. I guess I am blessed to be born and raised in a country that tried to make it right, but evil has served and my daughter calls me a racist when I tried to teach her not to discriminate on people who don't look at you but are different from you in intelligence, mental illeness or just don't believe what you do. That is real freedom and it is being destroyed now by people who believe the truth.
Female heavy environments have a lot of backstabbing, screaming and drama, whether it be private or public organizations. Women in the work place act like they are in Jr High School, their entire careers. Govt organizations are the worst since every one of them are diversity hires. I've had more than one boss that came in late, went on break, went to lunch and then left early, never actually working at all throughout the day. That's why govt agencies hire temps.. Somebody has to do the work the diversity hires refuse to do...
Parents should have filed a class action suit demanding a tax refund for the amount they paid to the state/country for public education.
I remember back in the 80s, one of the local ham radio operators in a small town in Upstate New York intercepted the home phones the cordless phones of most of the town and there were teachers who said horrible things about their students but the best calls were from the mayor making fun of the people that lived in the town saying it was a one-horse town and he owned it and all the laws he broke and crimes he committed and when the recordings were leaked to the press he used his cell phone which was also intercepted to try to buy a hitman to kill the ham radio operator
He was never charged with anything and resigned

Personal cell phones, no. You can try to do a FOIA request for emails, but they will be heavily censored due to student privacy concerns.

Until sane people step up to the plate and confront these people on a regular basis, things will not change. This is not the 1950s when you could trust those people over the schools. Run for board member and attend every meeting. I have confronted principals and board members. It's too easy for them to copitulate to higher ups without a fight. It makes their job easier and they still get their salary. Make them work for it and tell them what you will and will not allow your children to be taught.
