    I recently updated the module on my vad503 ahead of getting tge vh14-d hi-hat. It definitely had an effect on my edw kits. I messaged Luke on Friday night really not expecting anything back until Monday, but he actually sent me the updated kits almost immediately! These now sound great again and this has been the best customer experience I've had to date. I'll definitely be buying more kits after this experience.

    I have learned so much from your edrumming videos in the last 2 years. I was not aware that you sold TD-27 kits. Definitely buying some. I think that I saw that you offer Yamaha Recording Custom kits! YES!!! Precisely the kit that I want. Cheers brother!

    Luke! Hey man, thanks so much for updating these kits. After receiving some more for Christmas, I know own ALL the TD27 kits. 😂 I got all the updated kits installed into my module. I love the small tweaks, such as the name changes and some of the hi-hat foot pedal volume adjustment. Great work, dude!!

      When downloading the update kit files, do I overwrite the previous versions?

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  2 года назад +1

      You can overwrite the files on your SD card, then you can follow the instructions in this video to remove the old files from your module and install the new ones over them (if they're currently installed). As I showed in the video, you need to remove the samples from the old kits from your module before installing the new ones otherwise you might end up with duplicate samples.

    Hey Luke. All of this is fantastic and your hard work going in to all of this can’t be appreciated enough. I did have one question though. Does your v2 update apply to every kit that you have on your store or only some? I’m asking because I’m thinking of purchasing the Famous Vol. 1 pack for my TD-27, but I might have not wanted to spend if it was outdated. I know comparatively speaking it’s a fairly old kit package from 2 or so years ago. Thank you!

    Planning on reworking any of the older TD-17 kits? Or working on new ones now that there’s compression and other enhancements on the module.

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  2 года назад

      No plans as of yet. I only did these because the update broke my kits but that didn't happen on the TD-17 as far as I can tell. I'll definitely be using the new compression and reverb on my newer kits!

    Is this part of the new roland update that came out in december? The reason I ask is that I had the td27kv purchases and it was left in the boxes while we were having a new home built. We are in the home, I have them set up and life is good again lol. BUT I am hating the crash sounds and some of the kit sounds. Is this your own update? or is this the roland firmware update that brings all of these new sounds to the module??

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  Год назад

      This video is about my own kits that are available from my store -
      theedrumworkshop.com - being updated to work correctly on Roland's v2.0 software update. Their update did change some kit presets and added some extra stock "user samples" but it didn't fundamentally change the onboard instruments.

    Any chance you know of an easy website for free or cheap but worth it for real percussion instruments for the TD-50KV2 (50X)?

    Hey Luke, commented on another one of your videos in regards to the kits....If I purchased the TD-27kvs2 (the new model), are the kits that I am going to purchase rom your store the new versions for the updated module?
    Thanks man!

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  2 года назад

      Hey Aaron! Sorry, I must have missed it. Yes, the TD-27 kits on the store are all updated now to the v2 files!

  • @papafish6346
    @papafish6346 Год назад

    Are your kits actual samples or are the sanples already in the module but just tweaked. Would really like to get some different sounds because the sounds in the module are lacking seem limited

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  Год назад

      They're samples that I've recorded, layered on top of internal sounds. The modules can only load single hit samples with 2 layers maximum per zone, but 2 layers of one-shots still isn't great for playability. So I layer the one-shot on top of an internal sound then use the onboard modelling to make it feel like a single instrument which gives you better dynamics but retains the benefits of "realism" from the acoustic sample.
      Check out the demo videos on the channel or my store to hear how they sound and see if they'll fit your needs. If you have any questions, feel free to send an email through the store 😊

    Bro, I have had a heck of a time figuring out the proper way to use two edrum modules in FL Studio and SD3 or EZDrummer 2. I know that using either of the toontrack tools, it's essentially the same module adjustments. Point is, would there be any way that you would consider making a video about recording on FL Studio for edrums using 1 or 2 Roland modules? I know this is a shot in the dark but man, I really need your help. I gain nothing if I don't at least try. Thank you so much for your consideration.

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  Год назад

      Hey! Unfortunately I don't own FL Studio (I haven't used it at all since a very old version) and I don't own either of those VSTs, so unfortunately I don't have any way to provide this information. Sorry about that!

    Hi Bro, I am interested in your sound packs to buy for my TD 17 Roland, but i Have a guestion. What is the best way to record my td 17 kvx2 kit, i have macbook pro m2, i have scarlet 2i2 intarface too. Its better to record via module without interface or use this interface ? I have only garageband and fl studio DAW.

    Good job! Just bought the VAD507 and not satisfied with the sounds out of the box. I am ready now to buy your big bundle and hopefully improve my sound asap. What kits do you recommend most for live playing with a covers band through PA with sub?

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  2 года назад +2

      Awesome! Thank you 🙏 I would recommend starting with the "A" versions of the kits from The eDW Originals Premium - so either YamRecCust A or StarEncore A. The "A" versions of the Slated Room kits will also work well for this, but I think the toms and kick on the Premium kits might translate best overall since they've got a full set of samples.
      There are the "dry" versions without much room ambience which is always what I recommend when amplified - having ambience settings turned on when there is a lot of real room ambience can get muddy. But you can turn the ambience off for any kits (room, overheads or both) or use the direct outputs which will be "dry" too. There are some simple tips in the manuals provided about turning these off or running the direct outputs. Hope that helps!

      @@TheeDrumWorkshop thanks for the advice, I like your kits in the rehearsal room. Next Sunday first gig with it , wish me luck ;-) Another question please.. whcich kit does deliver the best cross stick sound on the rim of the snare drum? The "A" versions of the kits from The eDW Originals Premium do not deliver the right attack and volume in my opinion.

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  2 года назад +1

      Great stuff, I'm glad you're enjoying them! Hmm, all of the A/B/C variations use the same cross-stick sound for consistency, though the processing on each kit will affect how it sounds.
      There are a few things that could be adjusted for "better" cross-stick though. First, I'd make sure your rim triggering is set up well for cross-stick - sometimes the right rim gain for rimshots can leave you with low-velocity cross-stick playing which stops the full volume sample from coming out. It's always a balance though.
      After that, you can actually adjust the cross-stick volume on its own on every kit. If you press the [F5] KIT VOL button on the Drum Kit screen, you can change it there to make it louder.
      If you would just prefer to change the cross-stick sound to a different one entirely, you can do this by going to KIT EDIT > INSTRUMENT > EDIT, then hitting your snare rim and going down to XStick Inst. You can cycle through different cross-stick instruments and it won't affect the rest of the snare sound, it's independent. (Just watch out because sometimes when you start playing, it will move back off this parameter so you might need to find it again before scrolling the dial.) I usually recommend creating a copy of the kit from the Copy Menu to work from first, or at least making a note of the original sound in case you want to swap it back!

    Roland td27 is update 2.0 worth doing? Seems like a headache.....

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  2 года назад

      If you think you'll use the new stock kits and some of the new features, it would be worth doing. It's only because of a unique combination of settings that were changed that my kits happened to be affected. If you own any of my kits, it may also be worth it for the small upgrades I did to some of them that were listed in this video.
      If you're really happy with everything on your module as it is and don't feel that you would use or benefit from any updated features, you don't necessarily need to do it!
