- Railroad Maintenance Of Way Equipment Takes The Main! Illinois Central Railroad Locomotive Power Move Followed By The Biggest Intermodal Train Ever, With A DPU! Then A CSX Steel Coils Train Passes The Railroad Crossing In Carlisle, Ohio On The Toledo Sub. 2 of these trains passed in Carlisle. I had just filmed the huge intermodal train when I saw the headlights of the steel coils train approaching northbound. I filmed the intermodal train at the crossing and the traffic was backed up farther than I could see. I was trying to get across the road and didn't think I would until the train. However, as the intermodal passed in the distance the gates came back down just long enough for me to get across the road. I couldn't believe my luck. 1960gambit was on the other side and saw it. He said he wished he got that on video because it looked like I had somehow activated the crossing to get over. Lol. We were at the Carlisle Railfan Park with 5 other railfans.
After filming there, I went to another railroad crossing to the north and used my radar to check some speeds so don't miss that video which will be out soon.
Filmed May 26, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

For most people trains interfere with their lives whereas with we railfans trains enhance our lives. I'll gladly stop at the crossing and savor the train. Nice yard emptying stack for sure and the coil steel train was a welcome bonus. I wish everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day while we remember the fallen. Excellent video JT, thanks!
Rail crossings are the only red lights I enjoy stopping for. I'm a Hugh railfan. 🚂🚂
Jaw Tooth is always on the ball! Great catches, Brian!
Some folks get upset but can't change a thing. Why not enjoy the few, and watch "the economy" roll.
Count cars, read graffiti, or better yet put on 1967 Ray Bryant or Jimmy Smith recording of "Slow Freight" if it's not moving fast. Bet you'll like it.
@@sandburgmartin7947 Couldn't have said it any better.
HI JAW TOOTH! This is Randy in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I like that you’re in Ohio. I was born in Canton. You’re doing a GR8 job. GOD BLESS.
The front half of the train were hot bands that were headed to Dearborn for finishing into cold roll or galvanize. The end of the train were empty slab cars that will be loaded with slabs to be returned to Middletown to be hot rolled in bands and returned to Dearborn.
I’m from Dearborn and worked for Fords. I’m curious about how you know so much about steel. Excellent comment which I enjoyed.
Great info, appreciate it much!
He's really rollin through. I wonder the speed he's takin on
👍👍! JT on one side, Gambit on the other side! Have a great Memorial Day JT.🇺🇸
I absolutely watching these train videos Trains go by quite frequently where I live at I absolutely love watching and hearing trains go by I absolutely love this beautiful dog and. cat that I see on here

Cute puppy. Very interesting markings. 🐶

Nice catches! That switcher engine was cool to see. Thanks for sharing!
It was dead in train, they were using paint buckets to cap the exhaust stacks.
@@robertf3479 I didn't catch the buckets. I figured it was just being moved somewhere. Hopefully not to the scrap heap.
@@HSCRailfan.1980 Agreed. I looked it up, IC 1497 started life as an SW9 in 1951 and is now classified as an SW-14. Does anyone have any idea what's going on with the old girl?
@@robertf3479 I would bet it is going to a museum somewhere.
👍👍 Wishing you and your family a blessed Memorial Day, Brian! ❤❤Thank you for the videos!!! 👍👍

Morning all -nice day today !!
Really good trains today. Can’t get enough of the puppy! Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
Thanks so much JT, all the way from New Zealand. I really appreciate all the great work you put in for us rail fans!!
It may have been slow, but it was time well spent! Great video JT!

Love the trains. Thought the last one might stop before the crossing. I like the pup. Good coloring and blue eyes. Thanks for sharing with us.
Gteat edition JT 👍👍👍👍
That container train really was super long , wow !
Great intermodal train JT
Make sure to remember those who gave their lives to keep the USA free over the years. The lead train conveying the "gently used" IC switcher which still looked in Fairly good shape and the little oddballs. They included the stripped down auto rack which was white lined headed for scrapping and then a reversal the brand new CSX gons kept company by a SCL oldie. Then it was the interstate highway on a train versus the steel mill special. Considering those lead former Conrail coil cars are now 30 years old they've held up pretty well. Looks like Brandy is the official calming and accepting dog while Norfie is still working on the tail mystery. The cheap entertainment animals can provide
Happy Memorial Day
Wow JT an awesome catch i love the Darth Vader I C unit SW 1500 amazing thanks again and also love the furry one 🙂
Amazing videos Jaw Tooth keep up the good work
That maintenance equipment almost looks like some alien thing. It's really cool.😊
Great catches there man, what a lash up on that first catch!
Bad ass first train!!! What.. is.. the HURRY!!! That train was moving… switcher in trail was a cool catch, lots of variety including lots of old school and new breadbox on wheels coil cars!!! Start the video , son!!!
I saw some nice 5-car trainsets on that stack train - very cool :) Nice steel coil train! I think the empty cars will carry slabs or billets, not sure :)
The first train had an interesting mixed manifest, and I knew with one power unit up front (and realizing it wasn't a local) that there had to be a DPU in there somewhere. And I would assume there were quite a few empties on a train that long with only two engines. And yes, the Intermodal was crazy long. That had to have been over 2 mi. of train .. took 9 minutes of video. The steel coil train was probably one of the longest I've seen without a DPU. Great content for us railfans, JT. Thank you, as always.
I counted 205 on the first train and 154 on the intermodal (both could be off a couple). 87 cars on the steel coil/slab train. That one was longer than most similar trains you've videoed. A day of long trains. Thanks!
Great video with singing rail cars CSX intermodal train pretty cool location great memories for the day thanks Jaw tooth
Nice video and catches
You sure do take some beautiful videos!
Liked the view of the cement whistle post. You don't see many of them around anymore. Great video as always.
Wow! That was one long, long unit with the CSX DPU. Great catch JT! 😊😊
I came up with 173 cars on the double stack. That doesn't count the power. I always enjoy the container trains. They usually have such a wide variety of colors. 😊😊
The colors! Yes! I thought I was the only one.
Awesome video JT, the ex-IC switcher and stripped auto carrier were sweet catches along with that mega stack and steel coil trains. I know everyone isn’t a railfan, but for those that are it’s a good show seeing RRs in action, and of course this wouldn’t be possible without the sacrifice of those who served and currently serving, thanks to all, and thanks to u JT.🇺🇸👍🏼🫡🚂
This intermodal train is long! I counted 173 cars, or more precisely 173 platforms, as each car can have from one to three coupled platforms.
Nice Illinois Central Switcher live action👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hey jaw tooth cool trains. Hope you have a great memorial day. Have a great railroad day 🙋♀️
Great good video, mr Jaw Tooth.
Good place to spot trains over there in Carlisle. Good weather for sunlight on the trains 👍👌💪🆗😊.
Greet from Zandvoort the Netherlands.
Seems like a couple miles long
Great video JT. Looks like you had perfect weather for railfanning. Sure was a nice spot under those big trees at the end. Great catch getting those MOW equipment.
That was a huge intermodel love it. Thanks for the video! Liked that stripped down auto rack too. Like a car with no doors.
As always, great video and great with coffee!
164 InnerModel cars
Wow
I like that little switcher engine that was right behind the lead engine on the first train.
Another great train video
This show was so exciting with that first CSX train that I missed the numbers on the first locomotive. This show had me nearly dancing in my seat. I hope you make a generous income for recording railroad shows as what you do best.
Thanks for the video today. Hope your holiday was respectful to the veterans of the country. I’m sure it was. See you on the next, Brian! 😊
Happy Memorial Day
Happy Memorial Day
Loki just plain dog tired. Great video as always. Those little switchers were a big thing here in WCH back in the day...
It turned out to be a wonderful train watching day at Carlisle, Ohio on 26 May 2023, Jae Tooth! In wonder where that former Illinois Central Railroad switch engine was going. The auto rack car with the missing sides was an unusual site. That is the first time that I have seen an auto rack car without side panels. I agree with you when you say that the intermodal train was the longest one that you have seen. The use of a DPU on an intermodal train by CSX is not unusual. Wide World of Trains sees many intermodal trains passing through the Dunkirk, New York area on a regular basis with a mid-train DPU. The steel coil train did not have a DPU today but it did have two engines on the front.
Back in the day, when I was a kid in the 1960s, car carriers didn't have, or need, side panels. You could see the new cars being shipped to the dealership.
@@sethalford6003I also remember those 1960s auto racks too.
Looks like a great time for longgg trains.👍👌😇
Steel coils on rail: so much safer for everyone than by tractor trailer.
Man, I missed you again. You are about a mile from my house. I live in Franklin, and if it where not for the trees, I could see those tracks!!
That intermodal with the DPU was definitely a long one
Well this one came up on my feed JT Its not an old one but for some reason ive not seen it. Glad it came up because i love Carlisle & that Intermodel had to be one of the longest ive seen. Dpu too which you dont always see., & i get to see Loki again as a puppy! 🐶🐕😊👍
This was interesting. Also the second train was the longest train I have ever seen. You get noticed a lot with horn salutes. That's awesome. Fast train. I love them all. Great filming.😊
The intermodal may be the headliner, but that 207-car manifest at the beginning wasn't anything to sneeze at either.
The ICRR is an SW-14 rebuilt from and old SW-9. LUV IT !!!
I have seen several of your videos plus those of trains over bridges, I have some pictures of a roadway directly under the bridge over the Mississippi River in Minnesota I believe the Rock Island Railroad built the bridge in the very early 1900's the bridge is also a swing bridge for barge traffic on the River, to drive over that bridge while a train was passing directly overhead was awesome, two cars could pass in each direction under that bridge it was tight but they did it (I am talking mid 70's full sized cars by the way) unfortunately that bridge was finally tore down in the early 2008 time I believe due to old age and deterioration plus the railroad that owned the bridge was no longer around I think they did make some kind of a park about the bridge that extends over the River as an observation point just thought you might like to know
I seen an NS M,O.W. train go north thru New Miami yesterday. Had the crew cabins and tampers all the stuff on flatcars.
The tracks at Gent KY are coming along nicely for the new FerroAlloys mill their building between NUCOR and the KU powerplant.
I didn't know about the new track going in at Ghent. I looked it up though and that is a lot of track being installed. Thanks for the info! I need to get over there
@Jaw Tooth I'm around middletown and Trenton Ohio
@@FabianDiazTrainsTrucksNCars Yes, I have noticed a lot of new Norfolk Southern covered coils cars. I don't know where that locomotive was going
hey, I don't know if you'll see this, but if your ever in the area of Port Huron, where the CN St. Clair tunnel is, if the time table allows it, head across the bridge into Canada, there is a line known as 'The Point Edward Spur" (the line no longer runs through Point Edward but that doesn't matter) it's some absolutely beautiful track that runs parallel to the main road and through a park with no fences on the waterfront, very cinematic! slow trains around 20 cars long but very pretty nonetheless.
At 17:58 the gas station sign showed 3.599/ gal. Here in the Los Angeles area the price is nearing $5.00/gal. How lucky you are. Great video as always.
Thanks for the video, you are always full of surprises, love to watch your video:s love your quote, '"wait there is more". Love it
thanks for watching !
Wow! The second train was REALLY awesome with the length and the large amount of international boxes… they are m favorite due to the variety of colors and variety … my favorites of those are the Mediterranean Shipping ones, the yellow ones, and there was a TON of those and the red variety of MSC as well as 20’ ones and even a 45’ Zim container… outstanding!!! Start the video, son!!!
Amazing video jt love it
Wow…. They cleared the inner model yard out for that train🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤫🤫🤫😊😉😉, thanks brother
So 'booking fast' ... I could only get out... But, to my Señor Jaw Tooth video credit, I did manage to add...
Great video ✌️💯
I didn't know CSX had priority manifests🤣🤣 I think we see some of the same intermodals as you do. They are ginormous down here. That was definitely a giant for sure. Love the old stone whistle post. Saw a gutted auto rack the other day. They look wild without their panels. Another fine JT production 😁👍
Thanks for watching !
super neat catch with that little IC 1497 (originally built way back in '51!) - wonder what it was doing there.
JT, you captured the longest inter-model train on video. great work. How many miles was that?
Happy memorial day jaw tooth from westley jordan
Happy Memorial Day
The whistle sign reminded me of my 5th grade. That class was a tough one for me as it was in a city and I guess they thought they knew more than those in the country. Anyway, my folks were moving into the country yet stayed in the city until us kids finished school for summer. I had the good fortune of having the old Maine Central go by the country house and we were there for a weekend day. My class had the assignment of getting railroad signs and I told them about the 'W' sign I saw. The teacher didn't believe me and told me so in front of the class. That's right, those city teachers knew everything.
Long stack and steel train. thank you.
DPU ICU
always wondered what an auto-rack looked like on the inside, thanks JT, also filmed on my birthday😁😁😁…
Today trains is splendid long mikist . I'm be moved by long trains. American railroad is very vivid . Thank Jaw tooth very much . I can feeling american railroad power .
hello jaw its is randy and i like yours video is cool thanks friends randy
Nice shots.
My gosh, Jawtooth. I counted them watching in Australia and 173 cars in that consist.
Happy memorial day man! loved the video
Thumbs up mate.
Cute puppy!
Good videos as always
Nice CSX train with a ILLINOIS CENTRAL SWITCHER engine
I think that IM train was municipal trash containers, see those alot were they've cut the top off and put tarps on, nice coil train!🛤🚂
Another awesome video. It’s too bad we didn’t see any billet or slabs with that coil train. That would’ve been cool.
Intermodal trains with DPUS are rare on the NS Pittsburgh Line, but I do see them occasionally.
Happy Memorial Day JawTooth , Remember those who scarified for us ! Great video , have you ever seen a Schnabel railcar before? Love the puppy ❤ ,
Happy Memorial Day
@@michaelhewitt258 Thank You and to you as well
Great gets JT!
The last half of the coil train was for slabs. That was why the big bunks on them. Most likely the slab cars were going some place different from the coils. You are right about the intermodal trains in the west. That they get real long. I am in Southern California. They get so big that the DPUs could have as many as 4 in the middle. Because there is several grades on the lines. And they can be easily be over two miles long or more. The trains here are BNSF or UP. Steven Sipes
Wow, I think I should have shares in either Scheider, J B Hunt or BNSF, I think one DPU was modest, that milepost #44 sign earlier was the prominent earlier, thanks J.T 😊
God bless America 🇺🇸 🙏
