For those unfamilar - a TAS is a Tool Assisted Superplay/Speedrun. Playthroughs like this are created by a person recording and adjusting their inputs frame by frame in an emulator, and then playing those recorded inputs back in a video like the one you see here.

I'm not one hundred percent certain, but I think the general standard for timing a TAS for pretty much all games is that timing starts on the first input and ends on the final input. This can have some funny side effects in some games where say they set up some kind of trap for the final boss, but it takes like 30-45 seconds before it actually kills the boss, but the TAS doesn't actually need to do anything after it's set, so the timing stops 45 seconds before the game is actually beaten

Dayo you're entertaining but I don't know any of these acronyms. What is a TAS? It would be cool to give a quick definition for people that don't follow the speed running stuff closely.

3:51 im no speedrunner but if i had to guess its probably something to do with animation cycles on the big guy?
I'm assuming it's to do with the big wall that moves in and out, they have to wait for the wall to move out which gives them time to collect a few gems before the wall moves and gives them the boost

yep, theres a few ways to do it. but as long as you can get behind that door you can fight ripto early
