Here after the folding of the corps. Just here to say this was one of my favorite moments in my entire life and the most magical moment of this one season I got to march. Thank you Cadets. FHNSAB

So sad to hear about the corps. In the summer of 2004 I was at Drum Major Academy camp in Westchester. Cadets came down on the last day to run part of their show for us but there was a torrential downpour that night. So we all stuffed into the auditorium there, genuinely filled to the rafters, most of us soaked to the bone, including most of the Cadets. The whole corps was on stage playing for us and it was an absolutely cacophonous blast! We were hollering and cheering. Then Jay was called to stage and conducted this piece^ and every single soul in that place was suddenly so silent. At the end I could feel tears welling up and heard the sniffles of the other aspiring drum majors standing shoulder to shoulder with me. I could see the glint of tears on a mellophone player's cheek. It was truly, genuinely, one of the most moving couple of minutes of my entire life and I was sharing it with entirely strangers. I'll treasure that memory forever.

I marched with BK in 2019 when Jay Bocook was still with us. He conducted us through one of our corps songs, “Away,” at semis, and that remains one of the more beautiful memories I have of that season. He was so nice and passionate as a person/conductor, and really brought out the emotion in a piece that is already so moving as it is. Truly a legend!

Finals day was a blast. This was a very touching moment for the corps. Everyone was very emotional before the performance around this time. Truth be told, I didn’t shed a tear until after the last performance in the parking lot. Rule of law; it’s better to cry after finishing a thunderous performance. That way, the tears of victory stream down with purpose.

Bocook still has that magic touch. I've always had such a high admiration and respect for this musical genius. I had the honor and privilege marching under his direction at Travelers Rest High School and Furman University. He truly inspires his students to be the very best.

I hope this past year 2021 will bring back DCI to its rightful place. A place that stirs peoples hearts, transports people to other places and changes the lives of these kids forever. The Cadets program last year was magical. I've never had the opportunity to be a part of this experience, I'm just a fan and lover of music and I believe in the power of music to change lives. I've been to 1 DCI event and the Corp who won that night was so disjointed and uninspiring that at best I could say the response from the audience was lukewarm. Other Corps who relied on the music, and the precision of their drill really won the night. I hope The Cadets this year will stay true to their calling and not give in to trying to please weird judging trends. To pursue excellence in all phases and with that move us all to great heights.

Other corps had t-shirts made declaring the death of drum corps after a few corps had characters on the field...50 years ago and before DCI. I marched when we transitioned to 3 valves and it wasn't drum corps then, either.
The corps of drums is a group of drummers in the band who carry and play a bugle, a valveless instrument resembling a trumpet. Add a valve, not drum corps. Add voices, not drum corps.

@@Mrtellitlikeitis You go on then and take your POS Valve-Rotor bugle and go live the so-called glory days. The work is no easier now than it was then, and the blood, sweat, and tears put into it is just as much as it might been if/when you marched. Get the hell over it, you closed-minded ogre. Drum Corps has moved on despite the efforts of jerks like you.

This was on finals day and there was a lot of symbolism in this performance; it truly meant to lots of folks that the cadets are back. Jay Bocook had been away from the corps for a few years and the corps had not played this song in several years. Not to mention that the song itself is beautiful. This was a perfect way to symbolize that the corps is entering into a new age of excellence and innovation
