My boss doesn't always show up for work and more than likely is late. She rarely wears a bra, doesn't comb her hair, just throws it up into a ratty bun. Even when she is at work, she's on social media going on about working oh, so hard. She has even brought beer to work and drank it on the job. Why I stay there is beyond me. But I'm self-employed so no one else would do the work.

It was the company uniform. It represents the company. How would it be if people in the military started complaining about their uniforms? Can you see the companies reasoning?
And that's why when you quote something, you put in in ""''s, and say who the quote is from. I'm a fan of South park, but you don't go around tweeting stuff Cartman says without explicitly telling people it's a quote.
Wow...You are reaching! Trump is not tweeting anything close to being "Impeachable" and would be considered by many fans of free speech to be crossing a line.
1. NEVER identify yourself, your location, the company for which you work, or any personal information about yourself on line in social media. 2. Refer to #1 above.
I'm not bothered by by marriage, but someone who has a different opinion shouldn't get fired because of that, I have horrible opinions about certain things but that doesn't take away my qualifications, I still went to school and done courses for my job and get fired for having a different opinion that should be taken to court
Duche raidr Freedom of speech is all well and good, but when you're a media company who wants the most people possible to use their services (in this case, watch the show) they don't want to ostracise entire groups because they don't want to support a company that don't support their rights.
however the worker is a representant of the company and if the companies doesn't want to be associated with opinions from people that doesn't reflect their guidelines or philosophy of that company then they have all the right to fire them.
The fireman who got fired actually was quoting a southpark episode i remember it. It's the episode where stan marsh sister keeps beating him up and cartmen says that exact thing he said.
so a so called celeb skips out on paying for a meal and gets called on it. and the person who does the calling out gets fired hummmmmm does not compute does not compute
There are at least two lessons here: 1. Your employer can see what you post on social media. 2. People don’t get irony or satire and will interpret your posts in the worst possible way.
Number 8 was unfair, and number 6 was just a southpark joke. And no, people should not be fired for having different opinions than their employer. Posting comprising or confidential company stuff is one thing, personal opinion is quite another
Totally agree. It may be unpopular to go against gay marriage, but it's still a personal opinion expressed on a personal account. The only reason that could be a fireable offense is if the employee posted the tweet at work, but that's more due to violating company policies of no personal internet use during work time and such.
PotterBrony82 personal life is not part of work.....but saying something insensitive comment can get you in trouble(people getting mad) but anyway ever single person on earth have different opinion....and no one will ever be able to change that or force everyone to think the same way....
If your employment is at-will you can be fired for whatever reason (minus race, gender, etc). Why should an employer be forced to employ someone they don't want to work with if they have the legal right to let that person go?
8 tweeted something that was none of his business. It was the manager's business. He wasn't 'reporting a theft' either. Social media is not the police nor is it the authority to report anything to. He was showing off because he was told the resolve and thought it was funny that he still didn't get a tip after an entire month. The manager was probably kicking him/herself for even allowing the waiter to know the outcome and had to let him go for making the restaurant's business public. If he had kept his mouth shut, he probably would have kept his job. So yes, his firing was justified and I hope he learns that you don't tweet about something that is handled by your higher ups.
Yes, on twitter where it doesn't belong. I mean what's the point of putting it on twitter? Twitter can't do anything about what she did other than harass her about it.
I think number 8 and 7 are not fair. You shouldn't get fired for saying the truth about what a celebrity did, and you can't fire someone for not supporting something and having different opinions.
Ariel Love so if you were ever the boss of a company and your employee said something personal about someone you know like a family member then you wouldn't mind because it's their opinion? Bull @!&$ you'd fire their ass, don't lie and say you'd keep them because it's their "personal opinion"
Personally I would have fired number seven not because he shares a different view, but because one, he did not express his view properly, and two, the view he shares is a growing unpopular one, and that is not the way I want the company represented.
You have an absolute RIGHT to your Freedom of Speech. With that being said, an employer has the absolute right to fire you if your speech does not fit their business policies.
Well... I don't know about that. Assuming it's not known that the person works there and the company is not implicated in any way, it's no skin off their back, and the employee has a right to a private life even if they may choose to act like an arsehole in it. Unfortunately the internet's tendency to overreact and invade privacy by doxxing etc means the employer will often be informed anyway. Obviously in the cases here where the employees dissed the company they were about to start working for, that does impact the reputation of the company and firing is reasonable.
@@almightyhydra people are entitled to a private life, keyword private. if you choose to publish something under your name, you will face the consequences

If it doesn't affect your job, then yes. It is our right as humans to be individuals and no one should have the right to turn us into hollow flesh machines by disabling our individual traits unless it endangers society. and BDSM and porn or the other things mentioned by you don't do that (unless someone'd actually try to spread hate and violence and just loving Hitler doesn't necessarily do that... I mean, Joseph Stalin was freakin' hot when he was younger, but that's just a silly example rn). As I said already (twice by now): if it DOESN'T AFFECT your job. you can hate your uniform, but still show up with a clean and ironed one each day. Actions speak louder than words., but it wouldn't kill you to keep your social media private to prevent pathetic companies to scan you like that and nitpick just to find a reason to fire you.

As Jon Ronson said about Justine Sacco, "Justines tweet was just a misconstrued, Liberal joke. Instead of gleefully flaunting her privilege, she was mocking the gleeful flaunting of privilege, there is a comedy tradition to this, like South Park or Randy Newman. Maybe Justines crime was not being as good at it as Randy Newman."
The fireman at #Number6 3:28 who said to a woman to go back in the kitchen and make him a pie, just remember that the kitchen is where you keep the knives.
Whether or not a celebrity not paying a check is like being a robber the store.....pay the food you just order.....because no one have the right to think it is a free meal at a restaurant which was not giving food for free!!!
Quite sober actually. Although her tweet was to parody the stereotypical "American Ignorance" and everyone fell for it, because intelligence is scarce, she too found it too distasteful after it went viral.
No.3 reminds me of Mark Rufallo's deadly spoiler about Infinity War in an interview Ruffalo: Oh, everybody died Don Cheadle: DUDE!! Ruffalo: not everybody...?? Hilarious, but maybe not so much for the MCU...
Ruffalo actually was about to say "Half of the universe" Which is the *real* deadly spoiler. However, Don interrupted with frantic "D-DUDE!!!" When Ruffalo was in the midst of saying "Half" Which made Ruffalo to quickly change it to "Everybody died". You can hear Ruffalo was stuttering a bit when he said "Everybody" because he was surprised by the interruption and also panicked to save himself from spoiling it. I have to agree though, that was a close one and MCU probably did not like it, but probably relieved af. Don definitely did not appreciate the scare though... XD
"True meaning of marriage" ya right! The true meaning of marriage was to join two families together, to avoid war. Not for love. Humans just love to make things about love. So now, it's to join two families together, with love.
+NH4 Ci and, no. Not really. The first meaning of marriage was to wed a girl from one family, and a boy from another, to join those two families. Those two were never meant to be in love with each other. Eventually though, marriage became about joining two people (no matter their gender) together, with love. And you don't end to be married to start a family. It's just, I guess, better, somehow, when you're married. Nor do you need a boy and a girl to have a family. Ever heard of adoption? Or surrogate mothers? Or artificial incrimination?
By these thought police standards I would lose every job I ever had. My employer rents my experience and expertise by the hour while I am at work. Period. My creed and my opinions are owned by no one by me. There will be those that say "but you reflect on the company that employs you"...bs...only if the company I work for is more afraid of the thought police than freedom of speech. Just a bit of advice...have job skills that are viable and sought after.
Because the waiter called out the celebrity on Twitter when she didn't pay the tip back to the waiter so he got fired and it was unfair to fire him because he did the right thing.
I believe anyone who works in the public arena, whether news, entertainment, or for a large, well known corporation, should be fired for being stupid, not for content, if they are so unbelievably naive to think their opinions won't be controversial. Any opinion by a public figure is always going to be debated, so tweeting something insensitive or ridiculous will obviously reflect on the people around them. I think that social media is a lot like being in a vehicle, it feels like you are insulated and no one can see you, but everyone does, and usually, they don't like what they see. There is even a psychological term for this, but I can't remember what it is.

Facebook- Like an old person trying to fit in its cringey and annoying Snapchat- Mileannials and Teens to show each other nudes than block each other than friend each other and then repeat the process. Instagram- Hot people to show off. Pinterest- Wait I’m sorry people still use it. MySpace- the one that started it all. Music.ly- App for 9-12 year old girls that still think it’s a thing.

Your telling me a lady ate, *lied* to the waiter about paying, and then her agent called and paid the bill a month later. Just because she's a celebrity doesn't mean she shouldn't pay for something that she ordered. #WhatIsThis
Yes.
But I'm self-employed so no one else would do the work.
ragdolllibby hahaha nice

tommysil Hmmmm....sorry for your wife.
tommysil Ummm. Did you think you were being clever with that post? You literally said that your wife has to do her hair and make up everyday bc you're her boss and in turn implied that she's worthless if she does not and that if she didn't she wouldn't be even remotely close to worthy of your love given to her as her husband. You're a pos and I'd be willing to bet that if your wife came across your comment, you would actually be the one paying the price for it. What a disgusting human being you are.

By gay marriage*
Duche raidr Freedom of speech is all well and good, but when you're a media company who wants the most people possible to use their services (in this case, watch the show) they don't want to ostracise entire groups because they don't want to support a company that don't support their rights.
however the worker is a representant of the company and if the companies doesn't want to be associated with opinions from people that doesn't reflect their guidelines or philosophy of that company then they have all the right to fire them.

There are at least two lessons here:
1. Your employer can see what you post on social media.
2. People don’t get irony or satire and will interpret your posts in the worst possible way.
Penguin Community that's why you need to think first before you post.
PotterBrony82
It would cause backlash and damage the reputation
Sentient Salamander fair point, ok I can see and admit, if it harms the company maybe some disciplinary action needs to be taken
Number 8 is unfair. Fired for calling someone's wrong out? Especially when that someone is a celebrity who acts like they need to be treated royalty.

8 was not ok. He was reporting theft! Why was he fired? Not fair at all!!!!!! 7 was though.
Jessica Thorne a
8 tweeted something that was none of his business.
Christina Doxstader So..... someone shouldn't get fired for someone else stealing food! Thats bullshit!
She should have reported it to her boss and her boss only instead of on twitter. That's why she was fired.
I think number 8 and 7 are not fair. You shouldn't get fired for saying the truth about what a celebrity did, and you can't fire someone for not supporting something and having different opinions.
Ariel Love exactly
Ariel Love so if you were ever the boss of a company and your employee said something personal about someone you know like a family member then you wouldn't mind because it's their opinion? Bull @!&$ you'd fire their ass, don't lie and say you'd keep them because it's their "personal opinion"
I guess it would depend
Personally I would have fired number seven not because he shares a different view, but because one, he did not express his view properly, and two, the view he shares is a growing unpopular one, and that is not the way I want the company represented.
Oh okay, I understand now. I think I would have to actually have to experience it to see what I would have done about it.

@@almightyhydra people are entitled to a private life, keyword private. if you choose to publish something under your name, you will face the consequences

don't think #8 should have been fired. He didn't say anything negative about her, just called her out for basically stealing food from the establishment. Not once did he curse in the tweet, or say she is a horrible person. He simply said, she left without paying a $13.44. Which if you're famous and make money, that is a really cheap bill.
PRIVATE COMPANIES DON'T HAVE TO ALLOW FREE SPEECH!!! A company is well within their rights firing someone for something they say.

Powerpuff Avenger are you saying i could facebook long reviews about hardcore bdsm porn with links all day long and post about my love for hitler and that heroin should be legal and aids is a myth and my employer cant fire me
If it doesn't affect your job, then yes.

No.3 reminds me of Mark Rufallo's deadly spoiler about Infinity War in an interview
Ruffalo: Oh, everybody died
Don Cheadle: DUDE!!

Lila Hamato what era are you referring to? Marriage was always about joining a MAN and a WOMAN together, so that they can start a family
+Gabrielle Coffman no need for that language, but thanks for trying to support me.

I am confused as to why the waiter was fired...
