Thank you so much for your lovely begginer friendly knitting patterns ❤ I followed your written instructions to complete this design and it came out perfectly!
+Tamara Edge Aww Congratulations. The hat will be a little big but baby will grow into it.This is easy I hope you get it done in time and rest loads you will need it.
@@loulou19858 Hi. I made this last year and as far as I can remember, yes it was 0 to 3 months . Give it a go and if it does turn out to big, then you can still use it for when baby gets past 3 months.
@@sayqabutt6211 thank you for replying. I've made a cardi for baby 0-3 using the same pattern so I was hoping to have a matching hat too which is why I really need it to be that size. I'll continue with it and see how it goes. If it's too big then I'll have to follow the newborn tutorial. Thanks again for replying.x
I'm using 4mm needles as it's all I have and saw on your 3-6 video that you can make a 3-6 month old hat using this video with 4mm needles, just wondering if I still only cast on 80 stitches as I want it big enough for a 3 month old?
Hello! Just found this and love it. I'm a beginner knitter. I was wondering how many stitches I will need to cast on for a 6 month old baby. Also - would I just follow the same decrease repeats you've shown or would these be different in any way?
+Sohini Morrison Thank you I hope you find it easy to make. You will need to cast on 88 sts, Rib for 8 rows (or however long you want), for about 12 rows you will complete the stockinette stitch (Knit one row and purl the next) this should make the whole hat at this point measure about 7 cm. It's okay if it doesn't the numbers are just guides. For the decreases you will start row one with the RS facing (Knit side) at Row 1 K9, K2tog all around (80) Row 2 Purl all Row 3 K8, K2tog Row 4 Purl all You can follow the rest of the video from here. If you need anymore help just let me know ♥
Hi, I'm currently working on this project and it's coming along great, your video is really well explained specially for beginners like myself, I was thinking it would fit a new born but I think it just might be a little to big for a NB, would you mind telling me how many CO sts and any other changes I would have to make ?
Hi, yes this will be a tad bit big I'll leave you with instructions on how to make a newborn size. If you need any help just leave me a comment. Cast on 66 sts *(Hat will be 10cm tall)* Rib 6 rows (K2, P2) Stockinette stitch until work is 7cm. (about 13 rows) Knit one row, purl the next row etc.. *Row 1* K4, K2tog. Rep to end of row. *Row 2* Purl all *Row 3* K3, K2tog. Rep to end of row. *Row 4* Purl all *Row 5* K2, K2tog. Rep to end of row. *Row 6* Purl all *Row 7* K1, K2tog. Rep to end of row. *Row 8* Purl all *Row 9* K2tog. Rep to end of row. *Row 10* Purl all *Row 11* K2tog. Rep to end of row. Weave yarn through remaining sts and fasten off. Turn the hat inside out and sew the seam. I will make a video on this hat soon but for now I hope this is easy to follow.
Ketaki Jadhav Thanks, I will be making a video on a 12 months hat soon. As soon as I figure it out the stitches I'll message you so you can start it before the video comes out
Ketaki Jadhav for a 12 months hat cast on 108 sts rib for 8 rows( k2, p2). Complete the stockinette st (knit one row , purl the other row) until the whole hat (including the rib) measures 13 cm. You will start your decreases at K10, k2tog, purl the next row, k9, k2tog, purl the next row etc...
When you say "continue in stockinette stitch until the body measures 8 cm, is that including the rows that you k2, p2? Or 8 cm of the stockinette stitch?
Hello!Thank you for the tutorial.I would like to know does the thread thickness matter because i followed this exact procedure and it fits my 4 year old therefore thinking it would be too big for a 0-3mnths old.Kindly assist
clara Gondwe Hi thanks for your comment. If your yarn is a little thicker than mine you can try out the newborn pattern and it should fit a 0-3 months ruclips.net/video/MCMSxvepXEA/видео.html The yarn I've used it Double knit or light worsted weight yarn depending on where you're from. I hope this helps.
soumini k Yes it can be. Just connect it in a circle on the last stitch. Knit on the knits and purl on the purls for the rib. The middle part of the hat will be all knit and then for the decreases convert all rows to knit as well. I hope that helps
nanspan I have a video on a preemie hat which is worked on two needles so it should be easy for a beginner here's the link... ruclips.net/video/N5yfnjhbz3I/видео.html If you need me to explain any part of the video in detail just leave me a comment
I'am a beginner and I have no idea what Row 1 *K8, K2tog. Rep from* to end of row. (72) Row 2 Purl all means!! and I've a question can I so the same steps with a needle size 8 or 9? btw great video :)
+Whispered heart Thanks for your comment. It's nice to know I'm actually helping someone. These are the rows where you start decreasing the hat. In this case you will Knit 8 stitches(K8) then you will knit 2 stitches together(K2tog). You will repeat these 2 steps over and over again to the end of the row. For where it says Row 2 Purl all, you just have to purl stitch that row. To make this exact size hat you will need to use the needles and yarn size stated in the video. If you were to use a size 8 or 9 needle you could end up with a larger hat but you will also have to use a a bulky yarn. So basically you can use whatever size needle you want but you could end up with different results if you follow this video to the point. I hoped this made sense to you. +shivalini mohapatra Hi, You will need about 110 sts, you can use less if you feel like it will be loose because hats with a rib stretch, you can rib for 8 or 9 rows and before you start decreasing knit until the hat is about 7-8 cm long. You can make it as long as you want. I hope this helps
Hi,Do I do the stockinette stitch for 8cm's and then decrease the rows (K8, K2tog etc) or do I start decreasing straight away when I start the stockinette stitch?
First time knitter and this is amazing and easy to follow. However, when i got to the 8cm, and had to start decreasing, I realized that I had 78 stitches instead of 80.. No idea what went wrong, but can i continue doing *K11, K2 tog* to end of row (66). Would have to alter the rest of the decreasing counts too. Would it end up looking like a hat or should I just give up now and start from the beginning!!!
+Lim S Hi you are doing really well for first time. You don't need to restart you can continue as you have lost only 2 sts. It won't make much difference to the size of the hat, the only difference is how many sts you'll have at the end. To finish the hat cast off when you have about 6 sts.
alyssa s what size yarn would you be using and on the side of the label how many stitches are there in 4 inches?, there should be a little graph box with numbers near it.
