This was a wonderful tutorial! I am not a stylist, but I do live 70 miles from the nearest one. Being able to help my family get the cuts they want will be wonderful. Thank you!
As a new beauty school graduate, it's easy to get discouraged when working at a new salon. But your videos make me feel more confident and comfortable with my work. Thank you so much!
I just love u guys y'all really make hair cuts look fun and and enjoyable!! I'm a hairstylist in Sugarland tx and I love to style and do editorial work, but watching u do haircuts like this really makes me wanna polished my craft even more.. Love y'all
I'm 15 and my mom wants me to cut her hair, because I cut my own, like my anxiety is over the roof because cutting someone elses hair isn't my thing, so I'm trying to watch as many of your videos as I can to cut her hair
Renney 00 I went in to get a pixie cut with long bangs, and my stylist started talking about shaving under my hair. I ended up leaving with a bob with the back underneath shaved. Nothing like I wanted. :-(
I am a stylist that has been out of the field for about 6 years and thinking about getting back into it. I've been watching a lot of your videos to to refresh and learn some up to date techniques. love your teaching style and your cutting techniques.
Doing so many pixie cuts right now, this is soooo helpful though, all the techniques you display, I'm trying out. I feel my skills are progressing as a result of watching your vlogs. So thank you, you're awesome!
So addicting to watch your hair education content! I stumbled upon you recently looking for an easy clear modern long shag tutorials. I found your channel to be the most helpful and and easy to understand, practical…literally,,, you got me on the ‘ clean partings’ right away and I was hooked ! 😊. Watching your vlogs everyday is like opening Christmas presents every day! Thank you for all your hard work! Ps. And you’re right I can use your technique sparingly with different guests hair shapes, density and such!
Hi Matt, I am NOT a hairdresser, but I do have an older sister who insisted on me cutting her hair @_@ She recently is growing her hair from chemotherapy winning against a triple negative cancer, and every time she went to a hair salon they disappointed her. We watched your video together and followed your technique thoroughly and every time my sister visits me... says she FINALLY loves her hair. So, thank you teacher ^_^ You never know who a video is going to help and I am so proud to know it´s my sister who is HAPPY thanks to you.
Coming with next to no experience and knowledge about cutting hair, this is a pretty great step-by-step educational video. My brain and fingers tingle to try it out! From us newbies to the trade, thank you so much
Matt you are an excellent educator. After watching your step by step video. I practice the cuts on my mannequin head and pretty much. "nail it" Really excited to try on my clients in my salon. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and skills 😀
I’m not a newbie, literally I’ve never done that before, but now with the quarantine I’ve practiced it with my daughter and it was awesome! Thanks for share your knowledge!!!
10:29 I saw what you did there 🙂 Geat haircut! I did this on my 78 year old Mom, with a less dramatic front section, and we loved it. Greetings from Belgium.
Oh LaLa, this is my next haircut. Just have to grow mine out more for those gorgeous bangs. Thanks so much for the video. I just moved and am terrified by having a new haircutter and will pass this on. Gorgeous cut! Thank you!
What a blessing to get such great education. Your technique are the bomb. It's so necessary for me now because I'm trying to start somewhere but I too want to specialize in cutting & education.
Ah ha! You just explained to me the difference between straight across sections and vertical and why it matters!! THANK YOU! I've been dying trying to figure out the difference. Maybe I should just start at your first video and continue up the chain. Then I probably wouldn't have any questions
Would it be possible to do your tutorial pixie cuts on grown out short hair. (more so on an individual with thick wavy hair). would the directions differ?
I finally convinced my family to let me get my hair cut for my birthday...i have been wanting to cut my hair for about 2 years. I can't wait, my storage is full of just pictures of pixie cuts lol.
Love watching your videos such an inspiration you can really feel the passion you have keep it coming. I'd love to see your version of an inverted bob.
My mother cut mine just based on the video and it turned out really well. If you follow the steps, or go to a hair dresser you know is a good one, it should turn out perfectly fine.
Matt I would really love to see how to approach the typicals "scene girl haircut" with the deep deep part and the super texturised bangs and short layers :O I have a friend I'm doing those cuts on but I always try smth different. How would you do it? :)
That was awesome just like what I was talking about! I wish you can style my hair for me, I am in Matawan Nj. I am pretty sure ur in another state lol u r wonderful Matt
I’m thinking of getting a pixie. I’m a senior with thin hair. I need to keep all hair on lower crown that is thin. Also, I have a very small head and mostly keep a bob. I’m little nervous about cutting so short. I have had very short cuts in past. Growing out period very hard. Hard to find a real precision cutter. Any suggestions please?
Who else is here because your in quarantine and you can't wait til u can get your haircut/to cut your hair yourself because there is no open salon to go to?
I'm supposed to do this type of cut for a friend. I'd like to keep it longer in the front so she can tuck it back. Will see. I love wispy long pieces around the front.
start off with a 45 and the pull everything back to according to the head shape might be a 40 degree angle or a 90 depending on where the hair lays... pull it back and cut it at 45 degree then the temple area is cut at about an 85 degree / 90 degree angle( under area is cut at at 90 the over area is cut at a 45 and then u want to customizei d with over the ear or under the ear..... this is just the back side/ one side ! then u do ur thing and customize :) gla! i dunno if this helps anyone but it definitely got me the job!
Omg Matt, you are amazing! I wish you were my teacher in school, maybe I would've pay more attention then bored out of my mind cause the teachers sucked! Found your videos and just subscribed. One question, I hope you can help. If you have to use just one shear to cut hair, what or which shear would it be? I like to invest in one and would love to know what the expert like you'd used. Greatly appreciated!
I would love to see a pixie where there are piecey whisper tendrils covering the ear and around the back of the neck almost like a tail or fringe in the back.
Matt killed em again! #FSE #freesaloneducation getting me that Donald Scott carving comb. BTW, if you had to choose one?! Would it be wide teeth or fine teeth!?!
I don't know how to feel about the pixie cut... I've had it for on and off times but just recently my boyfriend commented that I looked really cute with a pixie cut when I was younger and now I can't stop staring at the scissors to chop off my long hair... Ugh this sucks.... Everytime I get this hair cut I feel ok until I get a negative comment about it and then Of course I have dreams about me wanting to instantly grow my hair back because I miss it... Ugh!
The only person’s opinion that matters is your own! If you like it... go for it! One of the best lessons in life I have learned is the only person you need to make happy is YOU! Pixies are cute... if YOU like it on you... rock it girl! 💚
