- Adam Sandler is back in animation with his next Netflix movie, Leo. In this review, not only will I be looking into this musical lizard, but also discover how Leo is so far the best animated movie featuring Adam Sandler yet…even if the Netflix film itself is not all that great.

Leo Review | Adam Sandler’s BEST Animated Movie
#Leo #Netflix #AniMat Кино
Who would’ve thought that an animated Adam Sandler movie would be more positively received than the 100th anniversary Disney film.
Adam: I would like to give a shout-out to Disney, who will now and forever be known as the studio who lost to f**king Adam Sandler! 😂
@@robbieking4070they're honestly pretty equally mid.
@@robbieking4070 *wheezing*
Well, AniMat *did* rate Wish higher than this so... meh????
Why?
I gotta say, this is really good. Adam Sandler as an old tuatara passing down wisdom to the kids and learning some things himself is actually pretty wholesome and endearing. Sure it has that whole liar reveal plot and the ending is a liitle clustered, but all in all it's a fun time. The banter between Leo and Squirtle is golden and there were plenty of good jokes too.
The turtle's name is Squirtle?!
@@karatebat5156yes
@@karatebat5156Yup. Makes sense cuz the pets were obviously named by the kids and you know, they're kids. XD
He's a tuatara? I thought Leo was an Iguana
I agree with the banter between Leo and Squirtle being hilarious! I also found Leo’s goal/personality to be endearing (his songs do remind me a lot of Mr Rogers Neighborhood). But I didn’t like how they had Leo realize he has more time to live at the end and would have preferred if they had him about to die.
I like how Leo not only gives the kids life advice but the kids also teach him stuff as well. Like how crying is not something to be ashamed of but it can also be healthy. It gives a far better message than just "your elders always know best"
That boo hoo song was hilarious
This is easily not only Adam Sandlers best animated movie, it’s also one best comedies in recent years. The story was weak but in execution, the morals and humor was good and the heart is in the right place. the animation was nice if not perfect. And the characters are interesting in their own way. He should really do more animated movies. 8/10
Did we watch the same movie, easily worst animated movie of the year
@@TheMArtagnanbro Leo is literally one of the most popular Netflix movies right now so I guess you either are picky about what you watch or you’re not a fan of cartoon stuff.
3:34 Tbh, this movie does the little white lie trope actually good and manages to the point where Leo isn't lying to grow his ego, instead he only lies so he could help the kids into overcoming their problems.
Nice
Yep, I have children and you sometimes need to use white lies in order to steer them in a good direction
This for me was one of my biggest surprises this year
Story 9/10
Animation 6/10
Characters 9/10
Songs 8/10
Overall 8/10
This is a film that many people can relate to and I’m one of them
That us a better rating
Really enjoyed it when I saw it last week. Leo's the most lovable lizard since Pascal in "Tangled".
I cant believe Adam Sandler made a movie much better than a Disney movie
wow unbelievable
Eh I still prefer wish
Lol
ha@@charliesawesomeworldofadve8024
Honestly. . . probably the MOST Wholesome, Family-Friendly & Heartwarming Movie ever to have Adam Sandler's Name attached to it
Absolute gem of a movie, I’m so glad people are talking about it!
If there is one word I never thought I'd use to describe a Happy Madison production, it's charming. This movie may not be revolutionary, but it oozes charm.
I didn’t expect Adam Santler to be in a slow and calm movie like this. Looks like Santler is making his great comeback.
Definitely a way better musical Adam Sandler film then Eight Crazy Nights.
I actually disagree the movie is hilarious
Fun fact: Adam Sandler started out of the 2010 decade with the worst film ever, Jack and Jill. And ended the decade with the best film ever, Uncut Gems.
That's character growth.
It's almost as if he's a better actor than writer. Don't wanna say bad comedian, because his acceptance speech for Uncut Gems was GOAT.
"From now on, you guys will be known as the guys who lost to Adam Sandler!"
I still can't get over the fact an Adam Sandler movie beat out a movie celebrating Disney's 100 year anniversary
7:54 SQUIRTLE?! They stole a Pokemon's name?!
This movie is ten times better than eight crazy nights!!
I’m sure this will win the Oscar for best animated film of 2023
If “Leo” is the good animated Adam Sandler movie, do you think that “Eight Crazy Nights” is the opposite?
yes
Yeah, youre right on the money with that.
Bum biddy biddy bum bum
I just watched it this morning and I gotta say, I’m genuinely impressed to have enjoyed this film. It had Adam Sandler jokes here and there but it had great characters and a heartfelt story. I really enjoyed and laughed a lot.
I also appreciate it has diversity in a way characters like Kabir and Coach Kimura are just part of the cast.
No annoying 'first -' marketing gimmick Disney is notorious for
Also the substitute teacher teacher too
To make it clear, I don't hate Adam Sandler. Heard that he's actually a great person in real life and you can tell he wants everyone to have a moment to shine. Not just himself or his close peers, but also his family members, veterans, and up in coming actors to have their contribution be prominent in one of his recent movies. That plan alone is actually really sweet, then again Leo is still decent at best but a forgettable experience at worst so I'm not missing much here.
Your "Under the Boardwalk" review video was deleted for some *strange* reason
I might as well check it out soon when I have a chance to see it. This film does have a wholesome message, and I’m glad the Sandler movies are getting better this decade
This was such a great and heartfelt movie ❤ I love Adam Sandler in his children's movies more than his adult movies.
When even good old Adam’s turning out genuinely better family movies than Disney these days, you know they’re in big trouble.
Adam: I would like to give a shout-out to Disney, who will now and forever be known as the studio who lost to f**king Adam Sandler! 😂
This is the reality we live in now.
It’s not just the best, it is one of the raretest animated-musical film ever.
Ngl, I love Leo. Sure, it's not the top of the cream in terms of films, but I really like how humble this film is. It's just nice and cozy, and it really takes me back to some of my (good) elementary school days
10/10 best movie of this year
Leo's voice reminded me a lot of Huey Dubois voice.
At least to say that Adam Sandler did the best performance amongst all the Hotel Transylvania movie and I hope you review the next Netflix movie by Chicken Run Dawn Of The Nuggets
Hooooolyyyyyy crap! I can't believe Sandler made something more interesting than a 2023 Disney film! I have a bit of a soft spot for Bedtime Stories, and Eight Crazy Nights was... eh. But it caught me off guard that an Adam Sandler animated movie - especially one that partially used the name of a weird Netflix lion movie - was this fun!
Sandler made bad choices on his movies, but I think he is very talented. Even when some of his movies (not to the level of Jack & Jill) arent the best, you can tell they wanted to make you have a nice time
(6/10) The Story
(7/10) The Animation
(8/10) The Characters
(4/10) The Songs
I give Leo (7.5/10) All i can say is it's a better Adam Sandler Movie
I still think The House Bunny is a real hidden gem, and appreciate that Sandler is willing to work with women.
Is the movie *Leo* better than *Hotel Transylvania 4: Transformania?* 🦎🎬
Never thought I'd be living in the timeline where Adam Sandler would outrank Disney
It's a bit of a nod to a musical called Merrily We Roll Along which Jason Alexander was in for the 1981 version.
When I saw the trailer I thought I was gonna be about the Lizard and the Turtle hanging out in hospice, I didnt realize that lizard was going to go on and touch the world.
This was fun to watch, I love the bickering between Leo and Squirtle.
Does eight crazy nights counts as his first animated musical being that it has songs too?
Excited for you to review chicken run 2 and migration
Never thought I'd hear "Adam Sandler" and "decent animated film" in the same sentence...never mind the same review
Did they really name his side kick Squirtle? Lawsuits incoming!
Sandler has come a long way after making a bad animated Happy Madison movie. Might give this a watch in the future!
Please review “Glisten and the Merry Mission” next!
I thought he was gonna play the sonic music at the end
I saw this movie last week and at first i thought i was gonna hate it but i enjoyed it. This is a cute movie , with a good message of running to people who about you in need. Leo reminds of my grandad, someone who is wise and loves kids. The songs were good and the animation as well. I recommend this movie to families, this could be a back to school classic i argue.
Well, Leo didn’t get the AniMat Seal of Approval this time.
I like the implication that you’ll grown out of the Kindergarten Kids Design, now that’s design is funny
My first thought about leos voice. He's definitely getting the 35th annual All-Star patch
I’ve really been wanting to watch this one. It looks so cute
The Under the Boardwalk review got blocked :(
8:16 They remind me to a zombie tsunami fr
Too be Fair the other animated Adam Sandler Movies are Hotel Transelvania 1-3 and 8 Crazy Nights. The Bar was not realy high!
The kindergarteners looking like chaotic little Chihuahuas 🤣🤣🤣😭
Been wanting to watch this one
My teachers show this movie in the class, I hate the music but something about it has quite some charm
I actually liked most of the hotel Transylvania movies obviously some are better than others, but I don’t think any of them are terrible
How come, nobody ever points out the fact that the voice Adam Sandler uses to voice Leo is the exact same voice he uses to play Donald the monkey in zookeeper with Kevin James
I really like how Leo lies in the way he does. He did help out those kids significantly, and I like how they play out when the students discover that Leo “lied” because Leo wasn’t exactly lying that much to begin with and I like how the students come to realize how Leo was trying to do what was right and forgive Leo
Genuine question but how did they get the permission to name the turtle Squirtle?
The kindergartners look very different from everyone else. Hell, it's like they want them to be this version of the Minions from the Despicable Me movies.
Pretty much, which is weird where the other students are more down to earth than being presented as boss baby characters
the charlotte's web reading at the end got to me.
3:58 who's the pony tail girls name on the left ?
this movie entertained me more than wish and i loved the animation and character design
Personally really disliked the film myself… …but I do get why others were charmed by it and I felt that it really had a good premise.
Regardless, glad that the Sandler Renaissance is on! Still need to get around to Uncut Gems one day….
I wonder when someone will request AniMat to review Eight Crazy Nights?
It'd probably be a 2/10 if not for the good animation!
I wasn't expecting such a heart warming film from Sandler.
just got done watching this and i have got to say this gets a seven out of ten for me. (9) for the animation. (6) for the characters, (7) for the songs and (6) for the simple story they were going for.
A surprise from both Netflix and Adam Sandler Leo is a movie that's pretty good for a simple film about a old lizard and has a good message to take away. Sandler gave us a movie that's decent and a step up from the later HT movies and a huge one from 8 crazy nights a terrible movie that is one of the worst holiday movies I've seen.
This one along with the other Hotel Transylvania movies really shows that Adam Sandler really has a knack for animated movies. Not to mention the other stuff that Bill Burr has done is pretty hilarious. He’s a pretty talented, comedian and actor.
Could you make review of the 1990 anime
Nardia and the secret of the blue water.
Adam Sandler is just like DreamWorks, he is way more talented than he gives credit for, but he also likes to make a lot of crap too.
So I guess it almost goes for a Mr. Roger’s neighborhood feel with the songs? 17:02
The animation is definitely a highlight of the film for me I didn't think it was lacking at all especially as a Netflix film it's definitely much better quality than some of there other content. They could learn from leo!
8:20 - About those kindergarteners, I do not like how they are depicted and especially how they looked. They were rather off-puting or even insulting to ACTUAL kindergarteners and people that were used to be them. I can even say the same thing about the "humorous", for a lack of a better word, expressions for the characters and the gross out humour isn't really my cup of tea. Other than that, the film is... fine. Just fine. The only thing that I can remember from this film is only its GEICO advert.
I love how one of this guys main complaints is that they dont go to many places...thats not the point of the story, leo goes from each kids house and helps them with their problems then goes back to school. It shouldnt be some convoluted IM STRANDED AND NOW MUST GET BACK TO SCHOOL toy story like movie...
Any thoughts about the movie *Leo?* 🦎
Honestly I think the songs helped make some of the lines even funnier haha I’ve already seen this movie 3 times 😂
i wanna see this
If only the same could be said for the Hotel Transylvania movies and Eight Crazy Nights XD
I liked Hotel Tren.
12:32 I burst out laughing on that one 😅
What happened to the Under The Boardwalk review?
Ask Paramount.
@buddytenney7121 Ironic, he mentioned they wanted no one to see it and they took down his review!
Leo and Squirtle remind me of Statler and Waldorf from The Muppets.
Where is your UTB review?
im stoned and all i can think is, "why does this narrator sound like pleakley from lilo and stitch"
2 reviews in one day lol
hopefully Nintendo, the pokemon company or game freak doesn't sue adam sandler for having a character named squirtle in the movie
As much as I don't like Adam Sandler at least this movie is a breath of fresh air for me and worth watching on Netflix.
I watched it twice (first on Spanish then on the original ro hear Adam
I'll saw its a great fun time heartwarming, wholesome entertaining movie
I'm just 18 and I could relate to must of the topics, and most importantly I think its teaches very good values and lessons to younger audiences.
I'm on a phase where I over think EVERYTHING and this movie just made me happy and relaxed
Overall a very good experience
The movie was good, funny, and heartwarming. but my only question is, why did the kindergartens look like pac-man as a realistic human?
They just typical kindergarteners
@@thischannelfun but the animators couldn't just drew them as normal looking humans like the kids in the movie?
The songs can mostly be described as nothing. But they don’t ruin the film
I feel bad for Leo:
Because in 2023 I saw for the first time Puss In Boots the Last Wish, The Bad Guys, and Spider-man: Across the Spider-Verse. A few of the greatest animated movies maybe ever in one calendar year for me!!
A very good movie like Leo will still get lost in the shuffle, just because there is so much great stuff out there right now.
Adam Sandler should voice Berkeley Beetle in thumbelina CGI remake in disney
Where is his review of Under the Boardwalk?
Copyright.
Good thing I saw the review before it got taken down

Me: What about the actual movie before it. How did you rate it
If we could get rid of the lackluster songs, I think this movie would be even better than it already is!
I really enjoyed this one! My kids have also seen it over 1000 times now, but I can’t say that I blame them! This really is just a very sweet and funny movie! I feel like when Adam Sandler actually tries, he actually turns in some pretty good work! I can think of a handful of movies that he’s in that I was like, “Actually, that’s pretty great!” so it’s frustrating when he decides not to be a good actor and use his friends to tell potty jokes instead. But you’re right that lately, that doesn’t seem to be the case! I thought you are so not invited to my bat mitzvah was actually really cute too! The fact that it was him and his real daughters weirdly made it more genuine
Awww, Adam Sandler's signature potty humor; annoying, but still something that's expected when it comes to his films like Michael Bay's explosions.
Although, I'll give props for Leo for being a step up from Eight Crazy Nights and the third Hotel Transylvania film.
You got that right, although the gross out humor was really unneeded
