I really appreciate the insight that Doug has, especially about how we as people view and value our childhoods. He's very compassionate and it's very kind of him to be so committed to preserving that!
Doug & Kristen are two wonderful humans! Fortunately been here a bunch of times over the last two decades while camping at Meeman-Shelby. Couldn't find better people or a better place to grab a burger and perhaps catch some live bluegrass! Not many of these left out there! God Bless Doug&Kristen as well as the Shelby Country Store!❤😊
I used to go there every weekend before and sometimes after playing a round of disc golf at Shelby Forest Park. They had a great selection of discs . Great little store. And use to love seeing the hummingbirds that were abundant around the store.
My aunt took us kids every day after chores to our little town’s general store just like this place buggers hot off the grill in the back but what I miss most is the big Coca-Cola box the they put new ice in it a couple times a day we raised that lid up stick our hands down in that ice water pull that cook or rc out they pop the top off we go set down order something to eat. Memories
Shelby forest general store I have been it lots of times I went to school just across the street and live just down the road To the south about 3 miles my name is Thurman Lunsford I lived at 7316 Benjustown rd
When I moved to frayser. I wondered up on the store back in 2000. I remember going in like damn its like 1862 in here.. Then I took my black all back to the end road to fire off some shoots... Sorry park ranger didnt know it was a national park...

Burgers looked so good. And I would love to visit the store as well.
Back in 1970 us Marines would go there drink beer and eat cold cuts spread on wax paper out back on coke crates. I loved that store.
I love general stores!!
Ah, peanuts and RC cola!!! Now that's the best!!!
the food here is enough to make drive there from Albany NY
My friend Micki's Mom used to run this store in the 60's and 70's. I will share video with her.

Cheesesteak looks good but you have to get the roll right. Soft ones don’t do the trick. No general stores here in NJ though.
