I just got one these in the executive upgrade. Really cool revolver. If I could have found a regular 692 I would have been happy, ambivalent on the wood grip, sight is nice, and the triggers on my 627 and 617 are pretty smooth.
About 5 months ago we were shooting 9mm blazer brass out of a revolver, we had noticed the brass expanding and having to manually pull the brass out. Switched to a box of Remington and Winchester and never had a problem. Side note, we have still had expanding brass problems with Blazer brass with a different box and series run.
Just picked one up this weekend from Scheel's. Shots great. Very accurate. Going to get some moon clips for .380. But what im wonder if it will also shot the 9x21 & 9x23 ?
Unfortunately I got these grips about 4 years ago and I can’t seem to find where I got them. I did just get some altamont grips for this gun and it fits a tracker/judge format/size.
Just bought one and took it out today. First time I unloaded the clip for 9mm, one of the tines broke off. I would say keep it to 9mm, or .38+p / .357. In a defense situation with the loud ports and flash, I'd opt for .38+p rather than blow my eardrums out with minimal to no gain on a 3" barrel with .357.
I like the TK customs clips instead of the factory ones. They suck. I think I got mine on Amazon but that’s the name of the place that makes them and you can buy them direct from TK customs.
Flash from ported guns aren't an issue. The flash from the muzzle and and especially the cylinder gap will be more than what's coming out of the ports anyway.
.357 out of a 2"-3" barrel is significantly more powerful than a 38+p out of a 2"-3". Check LuckyGunner's test results along with plethora of other sources for undebatable proof of this.
I have an Astra model 1921/400. Historically we have always been told because of the alchemy applied to the design of this guns chamber, they you can shoot just about any 9mm caliber. It is officially chambered for 9mm Largo/9x23mm. I have shot 9mm Largo/9x23, 9mm Luger/9x19 and 380acp/9x17, in this particular example. I experienced no problems with the first two calibers but it is less reliable with 380. Like you I experienced light primer strikes occasionally. In a previous example of the Astra 400 at a time when surplus 9x23 was unavailable I used exclusively 9mm Luger and would experience the occasional failure to extract. The extractor would slip off the rim and leave a loaded round in the chamber if I tried to unload it. This never happened when I shot the round in the chamber. Best practice is to always use only the ammunition the gun is chamberd for, but hey I shoot 32 S&W long in my 1895 Nagant.
That’s awesome, I hadn’t heard of the Astra, seems like a great gun. I haven’t gotten a hold of any 9x23 and not sure it would fire in mine but I’m also not sure why it wouldn’t. But as you said, probably not reliable because the gun wasn’t made for it. Thanks again!!
.357mag (& 38 Super...sort of), 38 special, 38 Long Colt, 38 Short Colt, 9mm, and .380auto. That's a pretty versatile spread. Maybe that .380 you tried had hard primers. The Underwood stuff seemed to fire just fine. For ultimate magnum loads, look to Buffalo Bore, DoubleTap, and Grizzly. Underwood is great too, but not to the level of the others in rimmed revolver cartridges, typically their forte is in semi-auto rimless cartridges.
I noticed that when you had 380 misfires you shot the double action and when you shot 380 single action you did not have misfires. Note that when you shoot single action the strike on the primer is a bit stronger than double action. This could be the cause of misfires.
I have a Colt SAA clone that shoots 45 Colt and 45 ACP. Also an 1858 Remington that shoots those plus Black Powder. But they aren't as user friendly and cheap to shoot as this Taurus.
It's always a big plus being able to shoot multiple calibers same firearms. more bang for your bucks. to shoot three or four calibers is awesome. I recently bought a rossi brawler 45colt/ 410single shot pistol. I also shoot 45acp with the aid of nitrile metric o rings sizes 8x2mm and 8.8x1.9 mm . it works great for me . I'm not saying for outher people to do this. papa wishing you well. 😊
Thanks my friend, that rossi is very versatile as well! honestly when I got this one I had been looking at the judge. I haven't done a video but I also have carried some rat shot in this while in some heavy rattle snake areas... But the 45colt/410/45acp is really potent and seems pretty ingenious of you on the 0 rings!! Very cool!!
That 357 mag was terrible. I’m guessing something in the elements happened to it because I had it in a speed loader. I’ve shot that ammo before and it much hotter. So weird.
@@triggerbarPhD The .357 mag was shooting 180 grain bullets. Law of physics. Heavier bullet, loaded to the same pressure; its gonna be slower. Load it up to the same speed, you end up with too much pressure. Sure the pistol will handle the 180 grainers, but don't expect magnum speed of 1300 to 1400 fps.
@@bobbyfurr8780 158-160 is about the optimal zone for the .357mag, where velocity and weight sort of peak. However, the best 180gr examples on the market reach 1,000 ft-lb from a 6-inch revolver.
Yes. I found it before (actually more technically in the first week before things really shut down and guns became scarce) of the pandemic. I don't see them around much.
Try shooting the 380 ammo in single action. In single action the hammer is pulled back farther which allows for a little more energy as it hits the transfer bar.
I tried a few of those but it didn’t seem to help. Switching ammo and to a different (out of the same package) moon clip worked though. I need to isolate which was the issue though.
9mm Kurtz is 380 acp. Kurtz means short in German. Yes they are same diameter or close to the same diameter bullets. But the case is shorter for 380 acp.
@@triggerbarPhD yes, I know 380 ACP is shorter than 9mm. I think I had Kurtz confused with 9mm Makarov. Thanks for the correction on that. I’m enjoying your videos. Keep it up.

@@triggerbarPhD I have heard the same about the judge model. Some of their Auto loading pistols are rock solid... I am seriously considering their newer G3 compact model, or even a G2c.

Yes .357 to .355 are safe for 9mm bullets. When I’m reloading usually in the site I get them from will say which cartridge the bulllet was intended for. That’s mostly for speed and if the bullet can handle it. Ie a 357 mag cartridge will fire a bullet much faster than 380 acp.

Yes, the 380 was the specific ones made by TK Customs for 380 ACP. They also make 9mm clips but 380 acp just falls out of those. The AAC 124 grain is some good stuff. I’ve consistently seen it perform across multiple 9mm hand guns. Beretta, CZ, Sig and the PSA lineup. Seems to be true to the box saying 1150 fps, so seems like a good training ammo to me, would love to hear what you think and test it as. Just FMJ, I think their hollow points are XTP so we’ve seen that in other cartridges and know it does and doesn’t do there.
