If you already own a Pixel 6a, don't worry about it, unless...

My wife likes her 6a, doesn't even notice the 60hz. Her only complaint is that it's still too big, misses her old pixel 3a

Then she should wear an 8a because of the small size she has.

Even though the 6A has a 60 HZ screen if you do your research that 60 hz screen is the best of the best. That's when everyone is switching to 120 hz

Using the 6a everyday for the last 6 months, I can say I typically average 3.5 to 4 hours of screen on time a day with a lot of music streaming when the screen is off and and usually end the day with 45-50% battery remaining so battery life is no problem for me. Face ID is really the only feature the 8a has that i wish my 6a had. Im a machinist and have my hands covered in coolant for most of the day or I’m wearing gloves so Face ID would be handy but not enough for me to upgrade for. If something happens to my 6a and i have to get another phone it will likely be the 8a.

    I had a 6a for a bit then upgraded to s23 . 🎉 I love my s23. The 6a was not a bad phone for the price .

Usually I’m not one to advocate for upgrading every year or two because normally there aren’t that many noticeable improvements. However, I do believe the 8a would be worth upgrading to from a 6a. You get 7 years of updates, a brighter actua display, a slightly better g3 chip, a matte plastic back and an overall more refined design in my opinion. Especially if you have a 6a and wait until a sale, seems like trading in your 6a for an 8a is a no brainer.

I hate the finger print detection in Pixel 6a from last 1+ year. The other issue of battery drain while you are travelling,it's a huge deal breaker where I constantly need to babysit the phone.I just bought a Pixel 8a on yesterday.i got it for INR 32,000 from Croma. The phone is one tier ahead of Pixel 6a

Am I crazy for preferring the design language of the 6a?

Not at all. I don't like the curvy edges of the new Pixels. Makes it look like iPhone. And the worst? The upcoming 9 series even has a flat back and sides like the iPhones.
The only thing I did not like on the 6a's is the camera strip being glass, would easily get scratched. For this reason, I feel the 7 series have the perfect design for a Pixel.

I adore it. Bit like my Lumia, another phone I adored - greate industrial design! But unlike the Lumia I haven't had an uncased phone for years... so just gonna take the 8A upgrade offer from my provider.

The screen on the 6a is not bright at all when you're outdoors. Plus the camera is getting worse for some reason. Clearing cache doesnt really do anything. You can see some noise in photos and it can get annoying. Plus the glass back got so many scuff marks even though i use a phone case every single day. Id prefer the plastic back. Other than that..phone is still good. Would definitely get the 8a if something happens to this one though

Picked up my 6a about 6 months ago on Ebay in perfect condition for $100. Put my "flagship" Samsung s22 to rest until my contract is up and will sell it on Ebay. I work off my phone all day every day making calls, using GPS to get to my appointments to visit patients and families as a Hospice worker. Do all my personal banking, stock trading, social media etc without a hitch. Get through the day with battery to spare as I am on dark mode and keep everything streamlined. I can buy any phone I want and had Samsung Notes in past which I only loved the Note 4 which is a legendary phone. However, the Pixel stock Android experience and the camera keep me coming back to Pixel. No need to upgrade to anything yet. If you have a 6a or can pick one up for anything under $150, do it and save some money because you will not be wanting for anything. THE ONLY thing I wish were better was more brightness outdoors. Otherwise a GREAT phone.
