If I learned something on RUclips is to take everything with a grain of salt. Cuz RUclipsrs are all about what's trendy and in at the moment. First was coconut oil (even tho it has been around for years and years), then it's shea butter, then it finger detangling... Listen.. The BEST way to keep your hair healthy and growing is to leave it alone.. Period! I mean, look at men for example.. they don't apply a hair mask every week or seal in the moisture every day. They don't do nothing other than leave their hair alone and wash it every so often and that's it. No manipulation, no heat, no perm rods, no nothing.. Just wash hair, apply moisture, don't apply heat, put on some oil if you want to.. and that's it! Leave it alone until next time. Boom.. GROWTH!
This is exactly what I do to my hair. wash it with shampoo condition it, put in some oil and hair cream. Put it in a protective style and add in some oil if needed on other days and continue the cycle if my hair is getting dirty. Following all these threads on RUclips is not for everyone it's what works for them and what seems popular and doesn't nessicerily mean it will work for you and keep in mind thier hair is different from yours and grows differently. The best thing to do is find what works for your hair and start by giving it a break.
Yes. Just leave your hair alone. After I wash and moisturize my hair, I do 4 feed in braids/flat twist and a low bun. I leave them in for a week and my hair stays moist and left alone. This is great for the colder months also.
+Sewer by Nature yep. I really wanted it to work, I really did but it just didn't go with my lifestyle. The sooner I accepted that, the better off I was.
Combs that have teeth without a raised edge. The raised edge in regular combs come from molding. The raised edge causes mechanical damage to hair strands overtime due to friction.
I have 4C, low porosity hair. I think that less manipulation is KEY for our hair. Just spritz that baby with water to make it moist enough to style. Then put in the leave in conditioner. Put a little oil in it. then put on some cream and honestly it's fine. You don't have to re-twist it every night if you don't want to. Shit gets too tiring. Some days when you're lazy, just part your hair in two and make two buns. comb it out when you have time. But if you're too tired, you're too tired. It takes a lot of time and energy to do so, so don't do it when you don't have time. If you have to wear a cute hat or put a wig on sometimes, do it! Or wear the afro as it is. Just don't stress! Hair is JUST hair! I'm so tired of the natural community making hair more of a headache than it needs to be!
Glo Ria i have high porosity and i use a mix of shea butter and hair grease it leaves my hair healthy moisturized defined and almost with no shrinkage. My high porosity hair can't stand light moisturizers or oils it just soaks it up or just sit on my hair without doing anything.. My sister has low porosity and she only needs light moisturizers oils and maybe a little gel for a slick look. Find out your hair porosity girl!
I think it's overrated. Like it's not terrible but if I put it in my hair in the morning by the afternoon my hair feels really dry like I didn't put anything in it.
Yeah true. Plus we're all still really learning how to take care of natural hair. I think we're the first generation or first 2 generations to learn how to take care of our hair since slavery and the 1900's since ya know we couldnt actually do our hair how it was supposed to be done
Girl I feel you with the finger detangling. I have a big noggin and thick hair as well and a wide tooth comb just fine. I tried a denman brush but I broke it 😊
I use Kinky Curly Knot today on my hair and then finger detangle a bit. After that, my denman glides through it. (But I did modify my denman by taking a few rows of the bristles out)
DreamWarrior Ooo!! That Kinky Curly Knot Today is the beeeeessssttt!!! I brought it to the Dominican salon that used to do my hair (big regret) and the woman said "OOO! Yes mami! This good deep condition!!" as the comb glided through my 4C hair 😂
Being a product junkie is a mistake a lot of us have made, especially if you're new to learning how your real...natural hair works. All your hair needs is some water for moisture, oil to seal and a simple wash + condition every now and then.
When youtube places gold in your recommendations 🙌🏾😍 LOVED this video,I can't relate more. I'm high porosity and I was tryna use the typical pink line from shea moisture when that mess is for 3 a-c hair. And I've definitely rocked the ugly twist outs that looked like black cheetos in my head 💀
Kekelicious fr! my mother has 3b/3c type of hair and usually uses that pink moisturizer. I thought I was doing something by using the same product but no 💀 its not for us 4b/4c girls.
MsFears. I think I punched someone in middle school for grabbing my puffy ponytail. I had always had it brushed out so they thought it was nice and yanked it.
I was finger detangling buttttt that sh*t alone doesn't cut it. It's impossible to get all the tangles out with your fingers only. Sooooo now i first mist hair with water to soften, then add some oil then finally some conditioner. I start out finger detangling then finish with a comb then twist hair to prevent further tangles. I noticed little to no hair in shower which is an improvement for me because i had to draino my tub every couple months from hair clogs lol RUclipsrs get on here and finger detangle like 1,2,3 and i am like nahhhh that must be camera special effects or something lol
M. J. It can also cause breakage because the friction between your finger and hair strands, basically you're doing the exact thing that protective styling is to fix which is adding friction
I'm with you on the product junkie(all that money) and hair type youtubers. I wasted 4 years listening to them - they are awesome but they don't have my hair! NappyFU TV has my hair!
Gugu Mtshali hehe, same here. I have spent the last 2 years trying to use up all the hair products I bought. I didn't want to waste it. I'm almost there. I know what works and doesn't work for me now.
I thought the same thing! My biggest mistake was watching Naptural85 and believing my hair could look like hers if I followed everything she says (including finger detangling--a nightmare!). I fall in the 4a/4b category she claims to be a part of but, nah, her texture isn't as kinky as most 4 types are.
Yes to number 9. The majority of the stylists by me are Dominican and Lord they act like they never seen 4c hair before. Someone told me to be careful with them because some of them put relaxer in the shampoo because they don't want to deal with any thick hair.
ND G I went to a Dominican salon once and the stylist that was washing my hair really asked me if I had braids. I told her no, she said ok and went to detangle my hair and asked me yet again if I had braids. Sis I shouldve ran at that second.
I don't even trust my mom with my hair😩 she's like I know how to do hair I been doing hair for 20 years lol. But I only let her cut my ends😩😂 clips theses ends that's it!
FabulousWright Facts. My mom only cuts my ends and flat irons it. I dont let nor ask her to do anything else. I may take advice but its slim to none i actually listen
That was my issue when I tried to go natural my first time around. I trusted my stylist knew what she was doing. She took care of my permed hair like nobodies business but when I decided to go natural, she had no clue. That lead me to do start doing my own research and take care of my hair myself.
"We all have a white friend who is just fascinated with how nappy your hair is" LOL! I had that friend, and then she started braiding her own hair in the same styles that my Mom did mine!!
I think we are all equally fascinated with each others hair and can't resist touching it. I actually don't mind people touching my hair cause I know the feeling. I remember the first time I saw Asian hair and Native American hair.....I was like dayum....looks like freaking water or silk.....how is this possible!!!! All my senses went out the door and my hand went straight for the hair without asking to touch. I thank God they weren't rude or mean and cussed me out and this is why I'm open to letting people touch my hair. Hair is one of the most peculiar and satisfying wonders of the world, no matter the texture.
Lizzie Beth no ma’am, that’s disrespectful and on the same par with touching a pregnant woman’s stomach without asking. You’re not entitled to touch anyone for any reason just because you’re curious. Curiosity killed the cat.
I think you are mixing up silk for satin. And satin is cheaper and why people promote it most. I have a silk Balenciaga scarf and it feels exactly how you are describing satin. My satin scarfs and pillowcase just glides over my hair and causes no damage.
+ReviewQueenRBD mhmmnn it's interesting that your experiencing that because silk is more expensive because it's 100% natural and silk comes from an actual silkworm that can be found in Asia. Satin is in fact cheaper because it doesn't come from a silkworm, it comes from a bunch of rough polyester blends. Now one side of satin does feel like silk but the other side is very rough and that's where the cheapness comes in. Now your satin might glide over your hair because your using your soft side or your satin may be made with a small percentage of silk. It doesn't bother some people but I rather have 100% silk. You can find silk at goodwill or Walmart so it's not really expensive. It really is weird that your experiencing that, google silk vs. satin. Or google, "what is satin made of?"
Chazzzisawesome I know the differences and what they are made of. Like I siad I have then both in my house. I honestly have like 3 100% silk scarfs and several satin and prefer my satin. I even have a satin pillowcase and prefer that as well. My silk ones get caught on my hair but my satin ones glide over my hair. It upsets me because I paid ALOT of money for those silk scarfs. I only use them to accessorize. Silk being made of a silk worm and satin being made of cheap polyester blends doesn't change the fact that MY satin scarfs are better. And not sure what kind of satin scarfs you have but mine are satin on both sides. Thanks for respondinf
Chazzzisawesome I agree with you. Satin is more expensive. And I've also had the experience with satin and it pulling my strands when I would take it off. I love my silk much more than that rougher feel of satin.
The fact that I just did the big chop 6 months ago(had a cute lil fade), and I'm sitting here watching this video with a forced high puff & a headache ... LMAOOOOOOO. Very helpful video! lol
How am I just now discovering you?? You are speaking TRUTH here! I'm a 4-something (still don't know which) and finger detangling does. not. work for me. I can't believe the time I wasted trying to stick to it. And I'm doing much better on keeping my hair moisturized, too.
This is the most real natural hair video I’ve seen. And I’ve seen a lot. Just did the big chop and my hair is very similar to yours. Sooo taking your advice! Thank you 🙏🏽
I didn't agree with you the last time when you bashed finger detangling but girl, you're right. It's too time consuming, tiring and ineffective...I'll probably stick to wide tooth combs at all lengths
As an African woman I will say this: AVOID AFRICAN HAIRSTYLISTS AT ALL COSTS! They are usually very talented braiders, but most of them care more about the look of the hairstyle than the health of your hair. You might lose your edges in the process. Some of them may be good, but the majority of them don't give a shit about the health of your hair.
@@elodiei.5087totally agree African too Some braid too tight most don't care about the hair they just want💰💰💰💵💵💵MONEY. But don't get me wrong, I'm not talking about all of them
I love this video! I am only one year and 2 months natural. I am low porosity and I totally agree with taking the advice of others natural that have your same porosity. Your regerts (No typo) are brilliant just the same. Going back to watch again!
Thank you for this informative video...I have low porosity hair and now I realize why the products I brought didn't seem like they were working for my hair...
Thank you for sharing your experience. I hear you on finger detangling. I recently went back to using a comb to detangle. I recently posted a video about 30 mistakes that I made with my hair. I also in the video briefly discuss depression.
Great video ! I had the finding out what youtuber had my hair type problem! I love NappyFu! She has to be the most slept on type 4 naturalist on RUclips ! Get you summmm girl. Also new subbie
RUclips came through for a sista with this recommendation! I have 4C hair and went natural 4 months ago. I am currently in the Product Junkie/Ugly Hairstyle stage. I twist my hair and unravel it/pick it out when I leave the house so I haven't worn twists or anything outside. You have save me more money and I thank you. I will no longer buy so many products. I will just stick to shampoos, conditioners and deep conditioners, oils and leave-in conditioners. Thank you so much! Subscribed!
+RDC no but she does have type 4 hair. Her hair is type 4a and 4b. Just like I have type 4a in the front and type 4c in the middle. Why do you say watching her for hairstyles is useless?
Ooppsss. My bad. I thought you were saying 4c hair only. This is the first video I've watched of yours. But her videos are useless for 4c type hair. Like people can still watch and support. But the difference between 4a and 4c hair is actually big.
You look to have 4c hair like me and Naptural85 has a looser curl pattern and I love and support her but I watch her for tips for my daughter's hair who has hair like her. But my hair can by no means do what hers does if I do what she does. The hair is totally different.
I feel you 100 % on majority I was sitting here smiling shaking my head yessss, I figured out most of like awhile ago it was so nice hearing you say what I always thought thanks girlie great video
Now where has YT been hiding you?? Cute video. I can completely relate. I don't have the patience for finger detangling either. I used to waste hours setting twist outs just to untwist and discover my hair wasn't dry, thus ending up putting it all in a poof/bun. So much disappointment. LOL
I have low porosity hair as well! I just realized a couple of days ago that if I squeeze my hair when trying to wet it, it soaks up the water! Like a sponge! LOL!! This has definitely been a learning process for me. I would hold my head under the sink FOREVER and the water would just run right off!! Thank you so much for sharing!!
Your comment on satin is very wrong. Satin is how the fabric is woven; smooth...several yarns float. One side of satin fabric is very smooth while he other side is rough. Silk is a type of fiber. You can have satin fabric that is made of silk. It can also be made of polyester.
+Regina Clarke Is satin softer than silk? Googles answer: Satin “silk” from polyester (a man-made fabric) is very slippery and yet will catch your skin if your hands are very rough and callused. However, 100% pure silk sheets will not catch your skin the way polyester "silk" does. It is softer in texture and very smooth to the touch. I just prefer silk. As high a percentage of silk I can get. I do not like a satin and polyester blend.
My breakdown comes from studying textile science. Fibers are: cotton, wool, silk, rayon, polyester, etc. Fabrics are: satin, crepe, broadcloth, muslin, etc. Polyester can be made to mimic silk fibers. Misinformation is happening here.
Chazzzisawesome No problem. It's a very common one; the logic is correct though. Overall, you had a great video, we're all learning something new everyday. Props for sharing your tips; most of us don't have the guts to do what you're doing. Mistakes will happen, but it's okay.
Awww well thank you for your compliments but even more thank you so much for the help. It takes a village, right :D You explained in a super easy way that google couldn't even come up with.
The problem I have with silk is that it isn't breathable. I sweat in my sleep 😩 I wonder if the trade-off will be worth being uncomfortable every night. Also finger detangling sucks for me, so does the Denman brush. The Felicia Leatherwood brush is my holy grail or I will use a seamless shower comb.
Girl, I am so happy I saw this video. I am trying to grow my natural hair out and I have seen so many different videos and started looking at so many products lately. Great points!!!!
I love your videos. Please continue making them. You are knowledgeable (hope I spelled that right, lol), funny as hell, and a gorgeous sista, love your makeup. You confirmed a lot of the things that I was doing to my natural hair and I feel confident now that someone with my hair type is doing the same thing that I'm doing. Thank you so much.
girl yes on all of this!! A few family members went natural and they would tell me I don't do enough styles. I put it in twist and leave them alone for a week my hair was able to grow a half an inch every month. Especially the part about following youtubers that don't have your hair type lol but you got mine and I am subbing!
Yesss you are so right about ppl wanting to touch my hair because I'm natural and they were fascinated 😑. Lol I be like 👊✋. I'm 3b3c and have fine hair. My strands are too fine and will break easy. I'm afraid to go to a salon at all. I just moved to Oklahoma and all the black ppl here are natural so nobody says anything about my hair now and I love that. I was very self conscious in my hometown because 85% of the black women have perms and weaves.
Girl yes it was difficult. Everybody looked at me like why would I even want to go natural. It was amazing to me because they truly still wanted to touch my hair but talked about me like I was crazy for doing it.
WATCHING VIDEOS OF HAIR TYPE UNLIKE MINE!!!!! 🙌🏽👏🏽👍🏽👌🏾 People have debated me that there shouldn't be hair typing. Boo, I spent so many hours watching videos wondering why my hair didn't turn out like the RUclipsr!!! For me, not only do I only watch videos that clearly give the type but if you not a thick 4c, I can't mess with your videos.
My hairs a 3b/c type but I'm also mixed. I can relate a lot to what you're saying. I haven't found a product that actually makes a difference in my hair. Shea Moisture, Cantu, Herbal Essences all make my hair feel the same and the moisture is going by day three. And me being in highschool I don't have time to be washing every three days. Oh well 😅 The journey continues. lol
What does saying you are mixed got to do with it? Sounds like you are looking to upstage her grade of her hair or get some attention. Girl please stop trolling for special attention. All black people mixed. All white people are mixed. I am a mixed person of color, a parent of a child mixed (one parent of color and one of white color) and we don't say we mixed when we talking about our hair.
LOL Preach girl I recently started my natural hair journey, but i am not trying to be a product junky. Oils and water do the trick for me. Thanks for sharing doll i really enjoyed this vid
Hello. Loved the video and you are absolutely stunning. The finger detangling!!! Preach!!!! Also, concerning the hair stylists: friend of mine went to a Dominican shop and came with the worst heat damage. Thought it was great at first but when her curls wouldn't come back, cried her butt off!!!
If I learned something on RUclips is to take everything with a grain of salt. Cuz RUclipsrs are all about what's trendy and in at the moment. Preach it Sonia Lawani.. Finding what works for you is the key.. Nothing else matters.
So do you believe in cutting your ends?
Of course, when needed, it's necessary.
Yes. Just leave your hair alone. After I wash and moisturize my hair, I do 4 feed in braids/flat twist and a low bun. I leave them in for a week and my hair stays moist and left alone. This is great for the colder months also.
Finger detangling was a HUGE no for me too
+Sewer by Nature yep. I really wanted it to work, I really did but it just didn't go with my lifestyle. The sooner I accepted that, the better off I was.
me too had to go back to using a sesmless comb
Rakiya Hamilton What is a seamless comb?
Combs that have teeth without a raised edge. The raised edge in regular combs come from molding. The raised edge causes mechanical damage to hair strands overtime due to friction.
Rakiya Hamilton Where did you find your comb? I can't find one!
I have 4C, low porosity hair.
I think that less manipulation is KEY for our hair. Just spritz that baby with water to make it moist enough to style. Then put in the leave in conditioner. If you have to wear a cute hat or put a wig on sometimes, do it! Or wear the afro as it is. Just don't stress! Hair is JUST hair! I'm so tired of the natural community making hair more of a headache than it needs to be!
I got 4C low porosity hair too👏🏾👏🏾 and i be getting tired af
Anyone else kinda hate shea moisture......
A A Absolutely hate it
overrated product brand, my hair hates shea moisture.
puffalish What kinda hair do you have?? (Type, porosity,...) bcs I wanted to buy shea moisture products but idk if my hair is gonna like it

I DIDN'T KNOW SATIN AND SILK WERE 2 DIFFERENT THINGS... IM SHOOK
Hailey Winder satin is a weave pattern and can be made of silk, but if it doesn't say it on it then it's most likely made of cotton
Hailey Winder how u don't know me
😂😂 me too
Hailey Winder I
Oh my
When she started talking about ugly natural hairstyles "I looked like a 60 year old little girl" 😂😂😂😭😭😭😭
I would say I haven't had any problems with satin
Maybe this is because not every black person has the same hair texture so what works for one black woman is not gonna work for another
kelly Goodman yeah
Yeah true. Plus we're all still really learning how to take care of natural hair. I think we're the first generation or first 2 generations to learn how to take care of our hair since slavery and the 1900's since ya know we couldnt actually do our hair how it was supposed to be done
NappyFu TV is another awesome type 4 natural youtuber!
Loved this video" When you said "Ugly unsuccessful natural hairstyles, " I was done becuz It's so truuu!!! Thanks for sharing
+ashley Love 😂😂😂 I had to call it out I'm sorry. It's been on my mind for so long 😂😂 thank you so much for watching!
Rocking the ugly natural hairstyles atm due to a TWA.

Kekelicious hello! lol.
Kekelicious finger coils on my twa😂😩 Lordt
Kekelicious fr! my mother has 3b/3c type of hair and usually uses that pink moisturizer. I thought I was doing something by using the same product but no 💀 its not for us 4b/4c girls.
who's letting white folk play in their hair? Or folk period? That always been a hell no, but I guess you learned your lesson.
Even if they "specialize" in curly hair, it still is NOT for US. I learned the hard way😣
MsFears. I think I punched someone in middle school for grabbing my puffy ponytail. I had always had it brushed out so they thought it was nice and yanked it.
MsFears my hubby😚
Giiiiiirl, I'm saying!!!
me..you know what i mean😂😂😂😂
Anyone else kinda hate shea moisture...,
She kinda looks like reginae carters mom 😍 imo
She looks like BabyFace (the singer/songwriter) to me.

M. J. I made my own detangler with conditioner, oil, and a little water. This makes detangling possible. Still do some combing.
Special effects though?? 😂😂😂
I'm with you on the product junkie(all that money) and hair type youtubers. I wasted 4 years listening to them - they are awesome but they don't have my hair! NappyFU TV has my hair!

I love nappyfu and she’s a true 4c.
😂🙌🏽 Loved this!!
lol. I hate seeing girls attempt to rock a puff and it's their hair is 1.5 inches long and the puff is 5 miles wide too 😂 it kills me
Maleigha Dibble lmao
LMFAOOO
this comment aint right LOLOLOL
😂😂😂😂
😆😆😆😆😆plz stop
Absolutely right about the satin vs silk!
lol she said naptural85 has our hair. Gurl where? She does not have my hair, I'm 4b/4c, she on some other level.
Destiny James Right. she looks as if she's in 3c/ 4a category
Destiny James You beat me to it! I. cringed when she said Naptural85 has our hair type, because SHE DOES NOT.
@LovelyOsa is a type 4b/c with great length retention, style and moisture tips.
Naptural85 is part Indian I believe, if you watch her videos, her mom looks a little Indian. She also has type 3 hair.
yess girl! you told the dang truth! all of these things are the real truth! these are all facts it took me a year and half to figure out as a natural
+JustJamiexo yes girl I'm glad you could relate!
finger detangling and coconut oil is a big no no for my natural 4c hair it dries it out and does absolutely nothing for me
Yes girl but coconut oil is very iffy for me. Sometimes it works, sometimes it just sits on my hair.
Chazzzisawesome the only thing it's good for is cooking and moisturizing my skin
What is finger detangling? What's the alternative?
Yes to number 9. The majority of the stylists by me are Dominican and Lord they act like they never seen 4c hair before. Someone told me to be careful with them because some of them put relaxer in the shampoo because they don't want to deal with any thick hair.
+ND G I have been hearing that to 😞
ND G I went to a Dominican salon once and the stylist that was washing my hair really asked me if I had braids. I told her no, she said ok and went to detangle my hair and asked me yet again if I had braids. Sis I shouldve ran at that second.
Wow, this is so deceitful.
finger detangling doesnt work for me either 😑😑😑
I don't even trust my mom with my hair😩 she's like I know how to do hair I been doing hair for 20 years lol. But I only let her cut my ends😩😂 clips theses ends that's it!
FabulousWright say that again..& shes banned from clipping too...ole scissor happy stylist 😩
FabulousWright Facts. My mom only cuts my ends and flat irons it. I dont let nor ask her to do anything else. I may take advice but its slim to none i actually listen
I let my mom cut my ends she butchered it. 💔
😂
wow!!! this video was on point with just ten natural points being addressed. thank you for keeping it real.
No problem I am so glad you liked it!
That was my issue when I tried to go natural my first time around. I trusted my stylist knew what she was doing. She took care of my permed hair like nobodies business but when I decided to go natural, she had no clue. That lead me to do start doing my own research and take care of my hair myself.
Girl you got me at the product junky and low porosity part Currently: crying😭😭 because I spent so much freaken money!!! This video was spot on.
"We all have a white friend who is just fascinated with how nappy your hair is" LOL! I had that friend, and then she started braiding her own hair in the same styles that my Mom did mine!!
Seana Sparkle
I think we are all equally fascinated with each others hair and can't resist touching it. I actually don't mind people touching my hair cause I know the feeling.
I remember the first time I saw Asian hair and Native American hair.....I was like dayum....looks like freaking water or silk.....how is this possible!!!! All my senses went out the door and my hand went straight for the hair without asking to touch. I thank God they weren't rude or mean and cussed me out and this is why I'm open to letting people touch my hair.
Hair is one of the most peculiar and satisfying wonders of the world, no matter the texture.
Lizzie Beth no sis
Lizzie Beth no ma’am, that’s disrespectful and on the same par with touching a pregnant woman’s stomach without asking. You’re not entitled to touch anyone for any reason just because you’re curious. Curiosity killed the cat.
Queen M But satisfaction brought it back... so
I think you are mixing up silk for satin.
+ReviewQueenRBD No problem miss. To each their own.
Chazzzisawesome Mrs. 😘😘😘😘
Chazzzisawesome I agree with you. Satin is more expensive. And I've also had the experience with satin and it pulling my strands when I would take it off. I love my silk much more than that rougher feel of satin.
listening to youtubers that don't have your hair type is a FACT
Thanks you girl! I've been having headaches from pulling my hair up and was wondering why. lol Wow!
The fact that I just did the big chop 6 months ago(had a cute lil fade), and I'm sitting here watching this video with a forced high puff & a headache ... LMAOOOOOOO. Very helpful video! lol
+Chelsea Worfford I'm sorry you got me rollin 😂😂😂 I mean the high poof isn't that bad 😂😂
Thank you 🙏🏽
No problem! Glad I could help!
I didn't agree with you the last time when you bashed finger detangling but girl, you're right. It's too time consuming, tiring and ineffective...I'll probably stick to wide tooth combs at all lengths
you are the most up front and honest natural hair blogger I've came across. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Preach!!! Thank you, love this video!
+Tree Green I am so glad you like it, thank you for watching. It means a lot!
I know it's a year later but this video is AWESOME! I am now following based off this video. Girl. Amen. All day.
YES!!! Listening to these wavy RUclips naturals will get you in trouble! 😩
+Jessica DeAnna 😂😂😂 yes girl!
Love your honesty, your personalty is the best. Thank you for sharing
Go to the African stylist...they know how to control up to 4c.
check out nappyfu, she got good things that worked for my 4c hair
Sali Diallo 살리 잘로 she is very good. she has got good info on 4c hair.
Sali Diallo 살리 잘로 yes nappyfu has 4c hair not naptural85
cherry9951 agreed
As an African woman I will say this: AVOID AFRICAN HAIRSTYLISTS AT ALL COSTS! They are usually very talented braiders, but most of them care more about the look of the hairstyle than the health of your hair. You might lose your edges in the process.
Some of them may be good, but the majority of them don't give a shit about the health of your hair.
@@elodiei.5087totally agree African too
Some braid too tight most don't care about the hair they just want💰💰💰💵💵💵MONEY. But don't get me wrong, I'm not talking about all of them
I love this video! I am only one year and 2 months natural. I am low porosity and I totally agree with taking the advice of others natural that have your same porosity. Your regerts (No typo) are brilliant just the same. Going back to watch again!
This video saved my natural hair life 😘😂
+Jamesha McLaughlin I am so happy I could help. I really am!
Thank you for this informative video...I have low porosity hair and now I realize why the products I brought didn't seem like they were working for my hair...
Yea finding out your hair porosity can really change the way you care for your hair.
I'm 44 years old, you ain't playing in my hair. EEWW!!!
She's awesome
preach!! I have been natural for over five years and just came to some of your top 10 conclusion.
this WHOLE VIDEO was me in 2014 and 2015!! ugh, why didn't somebody stop me!! 😫
She's like.... one of the best and most honest natural youtuber ever
I'm so glad you said silk BC satin soaks more of your product and girls really promote satin
Tip #7 Laaawwwwwd yassss! Pretty much all of them applied to me but that hit home and made me a new subscriber.
I can't finger detangle my hair at all its way too thick.
Subscribed!
Naptural85 doesn't have 4c hair. Watching her for hairstyles is useless too
+RDC no but she does have type 4 hair.
Even then I' not convinced naptural is 4a
RDC She is, watch her video about brushes (she's putting conditioner on her hair) you can definitly see her curl pattern (way more define than 4c)
You look to have 4c hair like me and Naptural85 has a looser curl pattern and I love and support her but I watch her for tips for my daughter's hair who has hair like her. But my hair can by no means do what hers does if I do what she does. The hair is totally different.
I feel you 100 % on majority I was sitting here smiling shaking my head yessss, I figured out most of like awhile ago it was so nice hearing you say what I always thought thanks girlie great video
love this video sooo good I've bought so many products frm youtubers saying use this or get that ughhhhh
I love this video! The honesty! People don't consider these things man
finger detangling is the devil . my hair knots up stupid quick 😂😂
Probably the most realest most helpful videos I've seen in a while ! THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU 😂😂
Now where has YT been hiding you?? Cute video. I can completely relate. I don't have the patience for finger detangling either. I used to waste hours setting twist outs just to untwist and discover my hair wasn't dry, thus ending up putting it all in a poof/bun. So much disappointment. LOL
I'm planning on doing another big chop because of extreme heat damage for a Dominican salon. Never again. Thanks for sharing this.
+Nicole Runnels yes girl it definitely is a struggle 😂😂
OMG!!! I needed this! I'm a 4c and its been a challenge going natural. Definitely an eye opener. I couldn't agree with you more.
Your comment on satin is very wrong. Satin is how the fabric is woven; smooth...several yarns float. One side of satin fabric is very smooth while he other side is rough.
Silk is a type of fiber. You can have satin fabric that is made of silk. It can also be made of polyester.
+Regina Clarke
Is satin softer than silk?
Googles answer:
Satin “silk” from polyester (a man-made fabric) is very slippery and yet will catch your skin if your hands are very rough and callused.
Ok well thank you for informing me. I really appreciate it.
Love love love that she kept it real
+xGopiex well I do try 😂😂
satin is a WEAVE TYPE..not a fabric. The fabric it was made from was probably a cotton blend.
Kimberly Casey or the famous polyester
*YOU NEED TO FIND A WAY TO GET THIS INFORMATION OUT I WOULD'VE NEVER KNOWN THESE NATURAL HAIR GURUS GOT US FUCKED UP*
Kimberly Casey I was about to comment this because I have a satin silk scarf
Kimberly Casey I keep telling people that. Somebody was mad and thought it was fake satin because it was polyester. 😒
The tangle teaser really helped me
The problem I have with silk is that it isn't breathable.
Ugly natural hairstyles yes 😂 lol this is such a honest video
I love your videos. Please continue making them. You are knowledgeable (hope I spelled that right, lol), funny as hell, and a gorgeous sista, love your makeup. You confirmed a lot of the things that I was doing to my natural hair and I feel confident now that someone with my hair type is doing the same thing that I'm doing. Thank you so much.
Nice video 💕 I agree, finding your porosity and hair type is CRUCIAL
+JeanetteJBeauty yes girl. I even believe finding your hair porosity is way more important than knowing your hair type.
Chazzzisawesome how do i find out the porosity(sorry if I spelled that wrong)? I'm a 4C girl.
girl yes on all of this!! A few family members went natural and they would tell me I don't do enough styles. I put it in twist and leave them alone for a week my hair was able to grow a half an inch every month. Especially the part about following youtubers that don't have your hair type lol but you got mine and I am subbing!
a large cranium...i feel you sis...and YES I have felt my hair being pulled when I take my bonnet off sometimes
+Lashanda Rapp yes ✋🏾 big girl heads are the best 😂😂
Chazzzisawesome we have bigger brains lol I tell my husband that all the time
I am glad I read your correction, lol. I am a seamstress so I was like what. Satin is a weave of the fabric so I am glad you clarified that 😉.
"I though we was really rockin together" 😂😂
+Miss. Lauren 😂😂😂
i just like tips, i dont do what others do especially when their hair looks nothing like mine but im loving hearing about everyone journey
+Iaisha Barron dang 85% sheesh. Girl I know that must've been rough.
Girl yes it was difficult. Everybody looked at me like why would I even want to go natural. It was amazing to me because they truly still wanted to touch my hair but talked about me like I was crazy for doing it.
Omg yes girl!! I'm so glad I clicked on this video! New subbie and I love her personality❤ I love the realness
guilty of the puff. ✋
+Lovemenatural Guilty of the puff ✋🏾😂😂😂😂
Me too😂😂
Your skin is flawless!!!!
Great tips
“You all have a white friend who is fascinated with how nappy your hair is” lmao! 😩💀
Great video!! This will help so many new naturals. Your experience also reminds me of my experiences too. Thank you.
In October 2016 I mini chopped my hair to the awkward phase 🙄. I don't know what to do with it now besides protective styles.
#4chairproblems
One of the realest videos I've ever seen. Thank you new subbie.
What I liked about your video is how you emphasized how not everything works for everyone.
also everyone hair journey isnt the same
THIS VIDEO GAVE ME LYFE! THANKS FOR SHARING IS CARING! LOL!
Oh well 😅 The journey continues. lol
*gone not going lol
What does saying you are mixed got to do with it? Sounds like you are looking to upstage her grade of her hair or get some attention. Girl please stop trolling for special attention. All black people mixed. All white people are mixed. I am a mixed person of color, a parent of a child mixed (one parent of color and one of white color) and we don't say we mixed when we talking about our hair.
Love your personality it took me one whole day to finger detangle never tried it again.
+MyTwell that's about how long it used to take me lol
ur eyes are lovely 😍
LOL Preach girl I recently started my natural hair journey, but i am not trying to be a product junky. Oils and water do the trick for me. Thanks for sharing doll i really enjoyed this vid
Real talk on watching someone with a different hair type.
