Hi Sarah - I love your block. All the tones and textures of the greens give it so much depth. Love the lace flowers you added. Looks like it was fun dyeing the laces. I’m loving watching you stitch. Y’all are amazing stitchers. I watched Rachel earlier and love her layout too. The sky is the limit on making these blocks your own. Great job.
Thank you! I feel like I am learning so much from you and Rachel already. I loved seeing how you dyed your lace. Your background, with so many elements, is awesome!
Wow! You had a lot to share. The dying made your lace pieces work for your piece so well, and they added such a richness to the whole composition. You have given me so much to think about... Thank you, so much.
Absolutely stunning 🤩 You, Mum and Rachel have the most beautiful work. I can’t wait for your videos to see what you will come up with in your designs, I love the colours & the composition ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
This is a really pretty lay out. I enjoyed seeing you dye the laces and use them on your block. Really looking forward to the embellishments you will chose. The one thing is that I see laying a good base is the way to begin. Thank you so much. ❤️❤️
Wow Wow Wow...love how it turned out! So beautiful and I am really enjoying your videos. You do such a great job of demonstrating what you do. Thank you so very much for teaching us and bringing us along in your thought process. LOVE IT!!!
Well, now, ain’t that a zinger! I thought it was a muddy mess when you were doing the dyeing. Then you started stitching. 🤩 It’s fun looking at my background in a whole new way.
Lace! I love all kinds of laces. Now I’m going to add some to my block too. I also like to have pretty things hanging over the edges. Fabulous video Sarah! And I’ll need to try the dying technique too. Thank you so much! 💚💚💚
I really love how your lace turned out. 😲Thank you for sharing your dyeing process with us also...I've never seen it done quite like that. I also love how you block is coming along. 😊💜
Hi Sarah, Your dyed laces look just perfect. Your dyeing method worked so well. Tfs. I am stitching away every evening while I watch tv with hubby. Forgot to post pics of my background as got carried away with embellishing. 😁 I did post pics of my sweet little bunny. Have a great rest of your week. 💞
I love how the lace came out with the camo look. You and your sister do beautiful layers. This is a struggle for me. I'm getting so much inspiration in this challenge. Thank you.
Thank you so much Sarah, I'm so scare to play with dye and you make it looks so easy. Layering up so beautiful too, and that bouncing bunny is so cute.
Hi Sarah! Thank you for this video to watch this evening! I enjoyed it very much! Your back ground composition is so awesome with the many layers of vintage laces you placed on your block page. Your laces accepted the dye so well and it has made for excellent dimension & texture on your piece! How lovely! You did a great job! Really nice creating! TFS Happy Creating! Samantha
Oh wow your lace turned out so beautiful, I haven’t time to do this but will come back to this video when I do 😊 Your page is adorable just love the layering of your laces and your jumping bunny. Thank you so much for showing the over stitching I will be trying that when I sew on my leaves 🤗💖
Wow, what a wonderful page and I am so looking forward to how you will be embellishing the piece further! Thank you for sharing your process, it helps me a lot!
Sarah, what a unique way to dye bits of laces etc.!! I have, for the past 20 years, cut out bits of floral fabrics and dye & dry them then adhere them to my oil paintings. The whole process is so much fun and afterwards the painting appears to look a lot like an old Dutch still life.
Sarah the lace dying was so fun to watch. They are beautiful. In my older years green has become my favorite color. Your piece with the sweet bunny has really made me want to no longer be just a viewer and to become a doer!! Blessings from Ohio on your day. Betty
Oh Sarah, this is just so wonderful, a delight to look at & probably fun to touch with so many different fabrics!! At first glance it looks so easy & simple, but all of your layers of stitching give it so much depth & structure!
I didn’t mean to send that yet! I would love to dye a bunch of stuff like you did & I can hardly wait to see your bling being added on! It’s really just a feast for the eyes!! Thank you so much for explaining your techniques so carefully! I’m up to 13 stitches of the sampler, so I hope I can catch up soon. (I had a little blip at the end of 2021, my son brought omicron into our house… we both had had 2 vaccinations, so we thought we were well-protected.) At least that was last year & now I can focus on the new year! I look forward to seeing more of your incredible work! Thank you!
Love how this turned out Sarah, the laces are just beautiful... off to get some rit dyes... if there are any on the shelves... lol... People have just gone crazy up here, I don't understand it... Cheers for sharing I am really enjoying this series...
So pretty. I love watching you sew because you are right handed like me. I love your colors. I spent part of today getting inspired by washing old table linens and tea towels. I enjoyed watching you dye your laces.
That was very interesting Sarah. I have to say I was worried when you dyed all that lace, but it turned out well. Watching you put it together was great because I have no one to share my sewing with, and I'm finding this a challenge. I can't wait for the embellishing. I have put down my base fabrics, but that's all so far. I'm very slow these days and that has come as a bit of a shock. Getting old, I'm afraid. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Judy, are you on Facebook. If you are, join our group- the link is in my description. That was you will be able to share what you are doing with all of us. We would love to see your work and everyone is so kind. You can be as slow as you like. It should be relaxing and I am glad you are doing this project with us 🥰
Oooooo love your block! I’d chosen a bunny from one of Rachel’s packs for mine…….now I’m thinking that will be great as a tab and I might create a bunny. So much running around in this old head 🤣🤣❤️
Those are really cool, I recently dyed some fabric I used turmeric black beans and onions The onions didn't come out very well but the black beans and the turmeric really work well I got a like a purpleish black and a really cool yellow but I like the way you died I'm going to have to try this out thank you so much for sharing
This is so beautiful. Your laces turned out such a beautiful color. Everything goes together so well. I’m looking forward to watching you embellish this next week. I have already learned so much. I hope I can apply these techniques to my own piece. I’m new to this and feel like I’m all thumbs when I’m attempting to stitch. I remind myself of a child learning to write , everything is wonky and uneven. It is so much fun and I’m enjoying the process very much. Thank you for sharing your talent. 💕 Linda
My friend and I spent Thanksgiving weekend dyeing lace and paper with Rit Dye. We didn't follow instructions at all and it all came out great. We used cold water, no salt, plastic containers with different colors. We had a total blast, and loved every minute of it.
Those laces turned out beautiful! I haven't tried dying any yet so maybe I might give it a try after watching how to do it. Your block is gorgeous as well!
The lace dyed beautifully. I’m waiting on some laces so will try that when I get them. Won’t be doing any of it outside tho as it’s -24 C here right now. Lol. Love your block. I didn’t realize everything was stitched down with regular threads. I thought the embroidery threads were used with the different stitches, so this is good to know for next month as I’ve done some stitching already for this month’s block. Makes total sense , now. So informative Sarah, thank you.
In other circumstances I can see myself really getting into dyeing fabric and laces. I envy your stash of vintage bits! Will have to keep my eyes on my own work however... 😉
Thank you for showing the dying process. I always wondered about that. Have you heard of ice dying? I tried to dye once and I didn’t enjoy the process or the end result. I probably should give it a go again. Love how your block is turning out. Thanks Sarah.
Sarah love the way your blocks look. I am using a book the same size as yours and have a question to the orientation of your pages as the bunny looks to be landscape and block 2 portrait. This is probably just a matter of turning the book when looking at the sewn in pages. Thank you
Question.. why rinse the bits and pieces until the water runs completely clear if you will not ever get them wet again? I always thought I rinse fabric till the water ran clear so as not to cause running of the color if I washed the fabric.
I don’t intend to wet it but would hate the colours to run if something got spilled on it. I think it also slightly lightened up the green which I liked.
Did you wet the laces before you started? I know it usually takes the dye when you do that. Just asking. They turned out so gorgeous and I will follow in your footsteps.
No but there was one lace that had trouble taking up the dye and wetting it would have been helpful. Sometimes to do wet the fabric first but not this time. 😊
30 mls is about ONE ounce (please forgive my brazen willingness to publicly correct. But I’m easily derailed and something like this would derail me a LOT) ☮️❤️

That’s so good 😁
Wow! You had a lot to share. The dying made your lace pieces work for your piece so well, and they added such a richness to the whole composition. You have given me so much to think about... Thank you, so much.
Thanks Brenda 💕😁

fascinating watching you layer all of the green laces and pieces. It has all come together so well. Looking forward to the embellishments!
Thanks so much Mary 😁💕
This is a really pretty lay out. I enjoyed seeing you dye the laces and use them on your block. Really looking forward to the embellishments you will chose. The one thing is that I see laying a good base is the way to begin. Thank you so much. ❤️❤️
Thanks so much Patricia😁💕
Sarah, your visual and verbal lessons will be superb for less experienced stitchers, not to mention the close-ups. Bravo, Carol Martine.
Thanks so much Carol 💕
Love it! And how satisfying knowing you hand dyed the lace yourself! Thank you for sharing💚
Thanks so much Kim 😁💕
Wow Wow Wow...love how it turned out! So beautiful and I am really enjoying your videos. You do such a great job of demonstrating what you do. Thank you so very much for teaching us and bringing us along in your thought process. LOVE IT!!!
Awww… thanks so much 😊
Well, now, ain’t that a zinger! I thought it was a muddy mess when you were doing the dyeing. Then you started stitching. 🤩 It’s fun looking at my background in a whole new way.
😂😂😂 are you sure that you are not an Aussie!
Great video, so informative and practical, showing how to do this in real-time! Love it.
