Yes, so actually May is one of the BEST times to go surf fishing off Ocean Isle! If you have any other questions feel free to let me know, and pls consider subscribing, thanks!
glad a found this channel from around my area i love fishing but do caught anything hardly to keep hoping to learn some stuff but just nice to fish for whatever. nice to see a saltwater channel from around my area.
Nice video dude. After the 20th sand shark I may have tied on an epoxy jig and seen if there were any spanish or blues out there. If something ain’t working change it up. Don’t get stuck on chucking dead bait out there if the only thing is sharks and rays. Seems like you were having a good time, thats the important thing.
Funny thing...I just threw away all my bags with the hooks types because I just put the hooks straight in my tackle box...However, I think they were 6/0, they're about the size of one segment of my pointer finger if that gives you any help 😂
Early morning and after sunset are going to be your best bets. Use squid or shrimp but if those are only catching smaller croaker try and use a live mullet or minnow hooked through the nose. Lastly, get the bait out as far as possible.
So actually I have zero clue haha, I know my grandpa has had them for over thirty years so I wasn't even alive when he bought them...Sorry. Feel free to subscribe and thanks for checking me out!
Thanks man! I was actually just down their yesterday and the bite was decent, I caught a couple of smaller fish and about three stingrays. Now since the water is really warm yet at least in terms of being warm enough for REALLY good fishing, I would honestly just stick to surf fishing. The backwater still seems to be too cold. Just throw on some squid and try and get your bait out as far as possible. I say this because surf fishing at the moment is your best bet to catch fish. If you have any other questions for me please let me know!
It's pretty good, redfish, bluefish, and Spanish action are what tend to be hot this time of year. In the backwater creeks, speckled trout is also good right now! Let me know if you have any other questions! Thanks for watching me!
I believe I was fishing high tide, to be really honest, I didn't think the tides affected the bite that much, it's honestly just personal preference from my experience! Feel free to subscribe it would help out a lot!
Ohh nice, I've always wanted to try to surf fish there! To answer you question, yes, I do have quite a few different tips and things that you might find helpful. 1) Use either a top and bottom rig with a 3-4 oz pyramid sinker depending or how rough the water is, or use a carolina rig with a 3-6 oz egg sinker also depending on how rough it is. If you don't know what these rigs are, I have a video on how to make a carolina rig on my channel and if you need to know about the top and bottom rig there's plenty of vids on RUclips (sorry I don't have one yet haha). 2) For bait I would narrow it down to four things when it comes to natural bait. Cut bait (mullet, etc.), shrimp, squid, or live mullet or mud minnows. Normally my go to is the cut squid. If you do end up fishing a top and bottom rig however, make sure to use two different baits on the top and bottom hooks to see what works best. 3) Get the bait out as far as possible. I would try to stick to natural baits as much as possible but if not use a shiny casting spoon or something shiny that you can throw far and just reel in. Those are a few of my tips and if you have ANYTHING else to ask me I would love to help. Also if you could support my channel by subscribing that would mean a ton, thanks and good luck!
I will definitely subscribe. For sure. So i’ve crossed two videos. yours and one other and you both said shrimp so i’ll try that out and see about that carolina rig. thank you so much for the tips and i’ll let you know what happens!
@@johnbartle4224 Great, the one thing with shrimp is it doesn't stay on the hook as good as squid and that's literally the inly reason why I prefer squid over it haha.
One rod is an Ugly Stick GX2 with a Penn Fierce 2 Live Liner size 4000 while the other is an Offshore angler surf rod combo that to be honest I don't know what model it is.
Land It Fishing thanks man! Getting ready to head down to Emerald Isle to surf fish for the first time in 8 years so trying to get some intel on equipment that works
@@DarkRoastDiscGolf Yah man absolutely! I personally would recommend the Ugly Stick combo I mentioned first. The Penn Fierce 2 is extremely durable when it comes to saltwater and the Ugly Stick provides a great casting range. If you have any other questions I'm here for you so ask away haha. Also if you could spread the word about my channel that would mean the world, Thanks!
What kind of line and what test do you normally use for surf fishing? I’m about to go to Ocean isle for a few days and do some surf fishing, but I’m not too familiar with ocean surf fishing
So although I have braid on one of the rods and mono on the other, if you’re just going out there to catch anything I would just use 20-30 lb mono. Now there’s a chance you will get broke off by a bluefish and if that becomes too much of an issue just put some wire leader on, but you should be fine as long as the drag is set pretty loose to where you’re not putting an excessive amount of pressure on the fish. If you have any more questions feel free to let me know!
@@LandItFishing Thanks for the fast reply! So I’ll have about 320 yards of line at 30lb test, so would you suggest half mono at 30lb, and then like 40 lb flouro
@@russelljochim8607 I would just put on the 30 and that's it. And to answer your other question, I would make your high low rig line weight be 20 pounds mono/fluoro or do it in wire.
To be honest, I really don’t know, I just know the size of the hook was about 3/4 of an inch to an inch long, nothing too big, sorry I don’t know the exact size...
There’s not really a definite way to avoid them cause they will often bite whatever is in dorky of them, but I would stay away from live or cut bait if you don’t want sharks and focus instead on using shrimp, squid, or sand fleas.
Is may any good for fishing there?

Pierce is getting famous???
1:22 I see you Pierce ZOAMING!
Them Ray's step on the tale and cut it off. Then cut the wings off and use as bait. You can also eat them they are delicious. 😋 Yummers.

Not surprised you caught some baby sand sharks every time i go down there I always end up catching 5 or 6

The aggressive “are you kidding me” is how everyone feels when they loose and big fish
what background song is this at the beginning?
Every time I surf fish there I don’t catch anything but I’m going there tomorrow so I need to pray🙏. Canal fishing is fun tho!!!
Thanks for checking out my channel, and good luck man!
wheres the intro?
Sometimes I feel it's not necessary haha.
Went there on vacation last year. Didn't get to fish unfortunately, but I did get to swim in the ocean for the first time in my life.

what's the best bait to use while surf fishing
You’re gonna want to use either squid or shrimp, I prefer quid because it stays on the hook better though.
Where did you get the pole holders at ?
I honestly don’t know cause their my grandpa’s. He’s had them for over thirty years so he doesn’t remember where they are from, sorry

My family owns 2 houses at ocean island beach
First
You are endangering the people at the beach by attracting sharks and stingrays😑
Ben Raulston you are endangering society by being gay
I apologize...should I just stop fishing everywhere cause its endangering people haha?
Of course
It’s hurting the fish and it’s not vegan
Swift you obviously didn’t understand that it was a joke
If you had watched the previous video about private ponds you would understand🙃
Fisher man doesn't even know how to cast 😂😂😂😂
What do you mean haha?
