If the best you can say about him is that he’s not a traitor to the monarchy or his family (surely the same thing in his case?) that damns him with faint praise. That means he does precisely f@ck all and stays out of the public eye.
Not that he ever done anything previously, he’s had to stand down from his post as special advisor for trade and investment for the United Kingdom, a made up job to give him the illusion of importance (there was no predecessor and no one has been appointed to that role since he left, a sure sign that it was a pretend job in the first place).

The usual American commentary here about how monarchy is useless. Not true! Or, true in our modern time. For a thousand, 500 years, Christian monarchy, with ups and downs, was a fine balance of church (Catholic) and executive (monarchy). Then came the beginning of the end, the Reformation. Between the two world wars, European monarchy really took a blow. As to Fergie and Andrew, I don’t know. I wasn’t there. But, I can say that be it royalty or commoners, marriage is primarily a religious commitment, secondarily romantic. This ignorance has been the reason for our divorced, no matter what class the couple come from.
