With the 'Truck Run 4 Katie' happening next weekend, i thought i would shoot a video on the truck that i will be taking part in. The 14 year old Scania 164L V8 Topline, with 480hp and 2300Nm of torque.

Man, Scania has changed so much since 03. I remember when my company got these 164's
These old 164's are Gold. I drove one for 2 1/2 years - they sure do make the hills disappear..this one's still got another half a million miles in it before touching the engine. Great video Stavros as usual. Liked

I totally love the design of this truck it maybe old but i love the looks because it looks bulky and Robust very simple
I used to drive a Scania truck lord she could go
She was built up in Sweden
In a place they call Malmo
There was no machine could touch her
With my shoe down to the floor
As I drove up the motorway in my Scania 164
Yeah me too I didnt bother after getting the licences for both rigid and artic and coach bus and cpcs and drivers card etc always wanted the job but the conditions wernt worth it. Im doing great at retail jobs.

You can hear that wagon coming with her mighty engine roar, this big machine is strong and mean haulin 40tons or more,nobody could touch her with my shoe down to the floor as I rolled up high and mighty in my scania 164
I drove a Scania millennium edition with that "layout" with the bed in the front and it was the best bed I've had in a truck! Much wider than the current ones.

God I miss the 164. I loved my old girl. Driving freight trains now, 3 times better pay, but a lot less job satisfaction than when I was driving these.
Eey, like my dad. He drove trucks untill 2008, and he drove the early R modells, and the truck he drove most was a 3 series, 143M I think, and also some Volvos, like an FM9. Now he too drives freight trains, and he loves it more, as he grew up a train enthusiast

That truck still looks new! All i could tell was the old lights and bumper. And diffrent dash panels And the R badges Ya would never tell the age. Beautiful machine. Well futureproofed cab and body.

I've grown up on a farm and driven since 11-12 year old, tractors ect ect. Not sure when you do as much driving as an average lorry driver why you would ever choose a manual over an auto anymore. Being that autos are very very good now and plus with the extra traffic and stress it's one less thing to think about. I'm a fridge engineer now and do 40k miles a year in a manual van and it's a pain
I've never been interested in trucks whatsoever but theres something strangely satisfying and interesting about these videos. Don't know how I found myself watching them. Haha.

Really enjoy your video's , I would love to see you do a vlog on a scania 143 - 450 or a centurian 500 . Loved driving a 143 out on the continent and in the bean back in the good ould days , late 90's , but the company I drive for now has a fleet of daf cf 85's , nice and comfortable but as boring as hell .
Looking forward to seeing it , keep up the great work , very enjoyable .

Haven't see one in a long time myself , last one I seen was in Monahan , at Century roofs ( kingspan ) on clones road comeing out of Monahan town , a lad had one there for years , don't know where she's gone now . " If ya know any of the lads in Mcehvanys or A&M " maybe they'll put ya onto one .

Look, i've liked this trip very much due to the fact that i've driven freightliner trucks in the real life and i've driven Scania only in a game called EutoTruckSimulator2 hahahaha... Autonomous trucks have nothing to do with driver shortages Stavros, it's to do about cutting costs..getting rid of drivers and the human factor eventually. Trucks never sleep.....and they won't be restricted by driver limitations....

The average truck driver age is 47.. That's no surprise when every job you apply for you get told you need to be at least 25 and have a minimum of 2 years experience. I would love to know where they expect you to get the experience haha.. (Currently 24 myself and have little experience)

Still a great truck Stavros doing good service for its owner, but how we are spoilt/pampered/flattered by the digital tacho(no writing) auto boxes(gear changing can be hard work ) which help to return better economy, aircon ( more comfortable driver works better and safer, less tired. A multitude of features that make the drivers life better, the employer can make more money. Just very interesting to see a 14 year old truck working and sounding so nice. Be interesting to go back another 14 years and drive and compare . Bet some of the younger guys couldn't even drive it. It would be so alien to them , the old technology. Let's be honest now, we would all prefer to be driving the new trucks. Great vid mate, enjoyed very much. Ps: try a 70s early 80s F86 against a same year Scania they are about still, albeit restored. Knowles transport have some real nice F86 and there are still some Essex international, Asian transport, and restored Russell Davies trucks about. Be nice to do some classic comparisons. Whatdya think?

I really miss the old V8 days, going to be such a shame when everyone is driving around in silent electric cars and trucks. I know a few people who have nearly been killed by them as they couldn't hear them coming.

Sounds nice but absolutely no match for the Volvo 500 I drove. Only place one of these could pass me was on the flat because his limiter was set higher than mine. Every time we came to a hill, he got his pants pulled down and his butt smacked.

We have our proud trucks over here in the states. Like big U.S. truck names like peterbilt and kenwoth even regulations that killed the sound of them. Once you hear the sound a caterpillar or Cummins diesel engine your never the same. But got to omit I'm getting more respect for you drivers across the pond. Lets face it with out Farmers or the world would starve. We haven't seen over here in the United States in the trucking community we got a new saying that goes if your wheels ain't turning you ain't earning.
