@@cthomp31 Glad to hear this is coming out. Music is amazing, and live performance with regular instruments gives it a different edge, there is something about being less precise more chaotic which makes it even better in some ways
3:36 Dave, can you maybe... already on it, my friend! "EEeeeaaaaaaoouuuuu..." Haha... genuine smile from me. But in all seriousness, this whole ensemble has my love and respect for going there and seemingly having a lot of fun doing so.
Someone linked it to him on soundcloud a long time ago. He said it could be really good but it wasn't tight enough, which I agree with. It could sound so much better with some more practice and good mixing.
There’s a word in french to express « playing when u think u’re good enough to be tight, to be right, to be insanely good…but u’re not » and this word is « armoire ». This video is a good introduction to this word.
First time I saw this video it came up on a playlist at 3 am after I had just finished a final essay. I was tired as hell but also heavily caffeinated. Thought I was losing my mind.
It's amazing how you guys nail every little bit of the mix with such accuracy and as much as I love RDJ's recordings, this is on a higher level for all the extra dynamics and just the performance aspect, my favorite genre of music is your ensemble renditions of RDJ please make more
This has made me so happy, but the warpy vocals near the end are either being drowned out, or they just couldn't find the right FX for them. Everything else sounds UNBELIEVABLY BRILLIANT
Personal Persona i believe the point is to do an acoustic version of the original. This will mean no vocoders allowed. It sounds like they used a ‘daxophone’ which is actually a wooden instrument creating throat like sounds. Super clever way to do the vocoder effect non digitally.
I’ve always wondered how electronic works, especially Aphex Twin’s and Boards of Canada’s would sound if it was done in the 18th century or like an orchestra. Thank you for this amazing work! It’s a blessing to have an answer to this question! How are you able to mimic the robotic voices in the song?
Drummer blowing my mind with that feel. Really very track accurate playing. For a human to replicate that mechanistic programmed feel is very cool and I'm sure RDJ would have been jealous that you got there without having to jack solenoids into a computer controlled system lol
Great rendition! I'd love for it to be on a next AWS does AT album, I already own Acoustica and I love it! Some other suggestions: Raising the titanic 26 mixes for cash (2003)
Where did you got the lyrics from?? I diddnt understand most of them in the original minipops track. Can you please post them here??? I just would love to just stop singing "You! What did I in the park with you." : )))
+\√a¡Π6£αs Thanks a lot, diddnt came across that when I was searching the net. Excellent lyrics in this: "You, walking dinosaurs, with you I don't think we can replace these fucking earthlings Maybe we can move back I need a fucking break"

Second line ends with the word Scotland (the country he lives in right now). 4th line ends in the word Syro. And the repeated part is "You, why did I get bored, with you". Still, without an official lyric sheet I guess one interpretation is as good as the other. And I've never seen any lyrics for the very last part so good work there whether they're right or not.
+x three vocalists total. The two sitting (violinists Caleb Burhans and Gabriel Dias), and the guy playing french horn (Matt Marks). Caleb and Matt are using vocoders.
+Michael Clayville Ahh, I see. What an intense arrangement. Fantastic to see these renditions, esp as a fan of both symphonic acoustic and electronic instruments. Well done!
This group is criminally under-rated
You guys should really do a proper recording of this, it would be glorious.
I was gonna post the same comment.
They should, but this is already glorious.
And sell on LP
it's on the way!

I'm waiting for you guys to play “girl/boy song”.
People all over the world are also waiting for it.
This is legit. That beat is so bad ass. Massive respect to you guys
Wonder if Aphex is a fan. All the covers these guys do are insane.
Someone linked it to him on soundcloud a long time ago. He said it could be really good but it wasn't tight enough, which I agree with. It could sound so much better with some more practice and good mixing.
You and Aphex should team up and make an acoustic version of this song, it sounds great
There are no rules in music - none that can't be broken anyway.
@Intermuluckia Wut? Lirva?
I don't get this Avril bashing all the time. Aren't you snobs able to simply enjoy things?
it already is
This is beyond incredible! Please do more Aphex Twin. I'd buy a second Acoustica album in a heartbeat.
yeah and i wonder if they could do collapse lol
It's happening. Watch out for "Post-Acoustica" some time this summer. It's not all AFX though but what they've teased should still be awesome.

One of my absolutely fav AFX tracks, I love how poppy those things on Syro are, without sacriface of any of their IDM/braindance elements
First time I saw this video it came up on a playlist at 3 am after I had just finished a final essay. I was tired as hell but also heavily caffeinated. Thought I was losing my mind.
drummer's got groove
Always bring a tear to my eye when I hear the minute detail in an Aphex song covered to perfection. 💐🙏🏾
every detail of the song, ,like a painting :D
This is one good way to do a cover! Unmistakebly the aphex twin track but also unmistakebly your own sound
Damn... goosebumps all over
I really hope to hear you all one day in Montreal. I still hope.
Brilliant. Orchestra will sound and never die, will be able to cover anything. You's nailed AFX just wow. Keep going
This is probably the first time I've heard an orchestral instrumentation that includes vocoder vocals :D :D
wow, so it does...
What could be more blunt that "COME ON YOU CUNT, LET'S HAVE SOME APHEX ACID!"?
drummer seriously carries. incredible!
whoever worked on this is awesome
Amazing work, keep it up. Classic AFX Track. Respect to everybody
This is insanely impressive!

Aphex acoustic goes so hard
The musicianship here is off the scale!
finally, some good music
1:28 very well done
Immediately showing this to everyone
Please do!
this is one of the most impressive arrangements I've ever seen
Phenomenal!!! Fantastic orchestra and orchestrator! I own an Alarm Will Sound album of Aphex Twin's music! Incredible!!!

Bravo!

Vocoder
Amazing
I don't say this often, but....this is better than the original. Man each instrument plays their part well
This is brilliant
This is really good. Spot on.
Crazy that syro is that old now, time flies
THIS IS SOOOO GOOD!
the drummer nailed it
I would love to have been there.

amazing
this is absolutely amazing!
well done!
Thanks for making and sharing this.
these are so cool
This is surprisingly good.
Damn i wish the sound was mastered better like in your newer videos
incredible
besides the raw mechanical musical talent, the fact that you guys can nail the wordlets is super impressive
I’ve watched a few of these kind of videos where people are doing acoustic covers of RDJ songs and I feel like AWS is doing the best ones
Cuanta genialidad
Drummer blowing my mind with that feel. Really very track accurate playing. For a human to replicate that mechanistic programmed feel is very cool and I'm sure RDJ would have been jealous that you got there without having to jack solenoids into a computer controlled system lol

XMAS EVET10 PLEASE
holy fuck
why wasnt this song on your album?
look at them trying to recreate richards beautiful sounds with primitive human instruments(still an amazing rendition tho!)
primitive?
Where were the vocals coming from? Just fantastic!
+x Seems to be two on the right.
+MrDetonia I suspected that as well, but it was difficult to be certain!

I need to see you live. How, where?
Aww, I live in the UK, although there is the possibility I could go to NYC for work, maybe I'll see if I can go in mid March :)
