He does a great cover of Blurry, too. I think it's safe to say he's more than a country singer at this point. Wait in the Truck just opened the door for him.
@@katrinamillings3651 I swear when I explored him was after hearing this on the radio. I said he sounded like Puddle of Mudd. Then I did a Hardy mix on youtube and it hit that cover! Sounds just like them!
Yea, seen him in concert, wasn’t expecting the screamo which doesn’t necessarily bother me, I’m not a hardy fan by any means this song is catchy but he can’t sing live to save his life. Obviously, his vocals are heavily manipulated.
I’m 2months completely sober & have been at the gym 6days a week since the new year. This song comes on in there all the time & it took me a few listens to realize who “Jack” was. It hits me really hard every single time now, especially that line about being a “friend of your dad’s.” Great song.
Man I've been in that struggle the past few months but that same line hits home for me, I was at odds with my dad when he was drinking but were all good now but I feel like I'm headed down that same road.
@@swat5395984 well now is the time to lean on your dad for the best advice possible since no one knows you like him and he happens to know the struggle very well also

This actually made it on to a satellite rock station, otherwise I would have never heard it. Love the song, and the lyrics are thought provoking regardless of your view on sobriety.
As someone who struggles with alcoholism, who has a father, who struggled as well, and committed suicide because it got so bad, the song hits home for me. It simultaneously causes me a lot of pain, and also answers a lot of questions. I still listen to it sometimes, just because for some reason it helps me grieve. Which doesn’t really make sense, but it just does. Please ask for help if you’re having those thoughts. You’re a lot more loved and needed then you know, and the amount of pain that you’ll cause people after you’re gone it’s far worse than anything you did in life.
You know it's funny about wanting to hear something which is talking to your grief, and pain, and even though it's not really solving it, it speaks to you. I hope that you find peace. My husband left me for another woman, and 15 years later I still want to hear other stories about this kind of pain.
As someone who still struggles with my drinking, this song hits me differently depending on the day. Sometimes it's motivating and is like "Hell yes, it's my friend and here to help" then the next time I hear it, it just screams, "It's hurting you and making you think things aren't as bad as they really are". Either way, this is great song and speaks to some of us very deeply
simple, just stop drinking. You may ramble about your body needs alcohol, im stressed etc etc. Those are just excuses just like your comment here. It's not about the struggles; it is about you telling others you refuse to stop drinking.
I hear this often driving my work truck and the more I thought about the lyrics the more I was like wait a minute he's talking about Jack Daniels whisky, the thing about needing courage, mom calling him the devil, was a friend of your dads, causing trouble with the people in your life. Super catchy and the lyrics are deep and suggestive despite being rather upbeat. that's a ten.
Yeah man, its an alagory but a warning too. This entire song does it very well without explaining any fallout. This song is purely about being in a low or moderate place, and then finding the thing that lets you loose, loose or relaxed, the brain slow enough to realize the problems but too uninhibited with response. This doesn't paint a good or bad picture of "drinking". This is purely a rager song for those who kinda know jack. And he did a great job doing that. Without shaming drinkers. He merely set up the scneario and option or outlet of the feelings. We all know drunks, we all know shitheads. He soley focused on that drunk feeling and relationship with the slow down, quiet noise of it, the clarity but also potentially detrimental results.
I hear this song on my way to work every night on our local rock station. Its definitely a banger. Finally a song in the mainstream that most people can relate to
My big brother passed away recently, and his fav superhero was Superman, and he wore superman shirts, had belts, jewelry, and his nickname was "Superman" ... miss him... but man this song is something special.
I gave Jack the boot from my life over 12 years ago! He had been my drinking buddy for 35 years If you are struggling help is out there, reach for it. You will get your life back. It's possible
I was a bartender back in the day and watched Jack loosen a lot of mouths and hands, watched as wedding rings were pocketed and told if their wives, husbands or current squeeze called, they weren't there. Jack convinced people they could dance, fight and be who they wanted to be. This was back when music was provided by live bands, "house" bands and karaoke was some drunk who'd stagger up to the stage and try to grab the microphone. Good times🤣
@@darthy008 No it wasn't😂 My "regulars" knew if I answered the phone I wasn't going to stand there looking at them and say they weren't there. Jack and I have a love hate relationship. So long as we only get a little of each other we are all good. But when You take a Drink... Then you Take another... Then The Drink start to take Drinks... Next thing you know you're waking up hating yourself, The Drink and everything in between. Took me awhile but Jack and I have a smooth relationship now. In a glass with some Ice and sip only. Country ain't been country western for a long time - 80s came and saw a big push towards digital sounds, 90s pushed country fully into pop territory, and in the 2000s it used that to reach out into neighbouring pop genres like rap and metal. Hank Williams III comes to mind as an artist who does country and hard rock/metal music. None of this is to discount the song - a good song doesn't need to be novel sounding, just done well.

I thought when I first heard this on the radio, that the song was about a music manager that made the kid stray from his friends and family for fame. Listening back now I was wrong 😅
I definitely misinterpreted it until seeing a few other perspectives and thought that the "Jack" being Jack Daniels and the song getting gradually more aggressive, being the progression of alcohol on the body. The false promises of fixing all your problems, and being famous, which is usually how people view alcohol until they've done it. One I saw that perspective and heard the song over again, it totally made sense. I don't struggle with alcohol, but for those who do, I'm sure this hits more. But for me, it's still a massive jam. Even if I did discover it and Hardy from WWE2K23. lol been checking out some of his other songs, and damn. I've been missing out.
