Why it looks good? Probably it was meant to be a cultural thing and not just for decoration people now a days are using it for decoration that my friend will not look good when they get old.
When you get really old (like in your 80s) the least of your worries would be how good your tattoos look. As long as you don't have face tattoos, you've really got nothing to worry about for old age
Your culture is so open minded and friendly. You're way in front of the world cause you're without prejudice about ink and appearances, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I realized however that I spent my entire time there interacting with the locals, and I think that was the better choice in the end. I had some really magic moments in Buscalan

This brought tears in my eyes, those children remind me of my cousins back in the Philippines and my mom is actually from the Philippines in the dapa, surigao and most of my family were born there. I kinda speak the language but I half understand the language cause I'm mix with Filipino. I still miss my family but going back there in 2020.
