As kids we ran around the neighborhoods, schools, parks, hills and creeks until dinner and then even outside on the street at night to shoot off bottle rockets. I don't know one kid that got hurt or had a problem from doing this. The only kids that died in my neighborhood died of leukemia which my research has traced to the shots - this was back in the '70s. It seems like every year one or two kids died at our school and we planted trees for them.
I was in this village last month and spent time with those you met. Your video is a reasonable representation of Mwila life. Re the circumcision, I met the boy and his father during my time there, and he was luckier than most, as basic clinically clean instruments and reasonable sterility was maintained. This is not the case in some African countries I have been too and where female circumcising still takes place for the majority of girls, but that may not be a subject your followers or this channel would want to see.

beautiful that you showed them break dance, bcs capoeira even though it was fully developed in Brasil, has roots in Angola and break dance has roots in capoeira...(as well as kung fu ofc), so basically you brought them back what originated within their tribes, traveled through south and north america, traveled through centuries...you brought the result of their art back home to them :)
I have always wanted to experience these types of travel but was in a motorcycle accident and have had too many surgeries to remember. Thank you for letting me experience this vicariously through your adventures!
8:42 - 9:45 valuable message mate. I think it is sometimes hard to draw the line between bravery and foolishness but the best way to find that out is to go out and discover it yourself. Ugh, a tribal desert circumcision has gotta be the most brutal thing I could imagine. That's wild. But, after hearing the translated reasoning, it really does make some sense in many ways.
So you haven't heard about female circumsision before? :( It's hard to hear them cry, but what many tribes do to the girls is way more brutal and dangerous.
I understand people are making more money with shorter content.. but I would have liked to see more details about the rituals, a longer video! Thank you for all you do !! 💫

I appreciate you taking the time with these LaKee and explaining the meaning and process. It’s beautiful, yet brings up feeling of discomfort. But it’s that life? Great video
The adventure PSA section is why I watch these videos. So many years of chronically being online, reading horror stories on Reddit and news articles on Facebook I became scared to go anywhere or do anything by myself. I became depressed and isolated. Then I started watching videos like this and it planted the thought in my head that maybe the world isn't such a dangerous and scary place. Fearless & Far and other similar RUclipsrs are going to these places that, if you read about them online, sound like a death sentence. But everything you see in their videos is just good times with good people. I started going out a bit more, but I still felt nervous around other people. The big step that really changed everything for me was getting off of social media. I may have no idea what is going on in the world around me, but I feel happy. For the first time since I was a little kid I'm out living life, chasing new adventures, and having fun. Get off of social media. Stop reading the news. Live your life.
Completely agree on the social media. I watch RUclips instead of tv but haven’t been on Facebook, instagram ect for 4 years and it is so freeing. I didn’t experience fear or have any drama in it but it was just such a huge time waster and it does affect everyone in many negative ways. I swore it didn’t for me until I took a month off and I never looked back. My mom did the same and a few friends. It was crazy how much different things are when you don’t use it.
I’m going through this same thing rn.. too much RUclips and the world seems like an awful place especially reading the hyper-politicized comments nowadays.. you’d think everyone was down right hateful to one another. This is why I think complete honesty through anonymity has made the world somewhat worse than it used to be but most people aren’t like that irl.
@@bro6568 you are absolutely right! I watch you tube only but have been trying to stay away from reading the comments on a lot of videos. I’m sure it will end up getting as bad as other social media at some point. People can no longer have a conversation and agree to disagree without getting ridiculous, rude, mean.
Hello, Mike. I am from Kenya and I love your unbiased content. In kenya there is a community known as the Bukusu peopke who usually have circumsicion initiation ceremony every even year, on August. I will be glad to see it featured in your content for the world. Thank you.
Very interesting! You are correct about people knowing how their meat is butchered and prepared. It would be respected and understood that life is sacred if they did. That lesson isn’t learned by eating a chicken nugget. The rite of passage is pretty harsh . But much respect for their culture. They understand that life is hard and the month away to heal is preparation for survival in the future.
Right these people are thankful the animal died for them but people here just chow down bacon and chicken nuggets without thinking once about the animal that suffered for them
Been following similar channels for years, can’t believe I just discovered Mike’s channel a week ago. Great production and better stories than anyone else in the same lane.
I truly enjoyed this video. I laughed, I hungered, I lusted and I cried. Remarkable footage and dialog was on point. The villagers were happy and they know each other's business. This is key ❤
God. It’s so incredibly interesting to see and learn about these cultures, and I agree with what you said about men needing rights of passage to learn hardship, so I’m honestly so conflicted about the topic of genital mutilation. It just seems like the worst way to do it, but what do I know I live in California! It’s these kinds of videos that open my eyes to new perspectives, and I thank you for that.
Also here in South Africa, specifically in the Eastern Cape (Xhosas) right of passage is exercised when a boy is around the age of 17... That's when it is believed that you can become a Man and at that age usually you're finishing school and are either starting with your work life or you'll go and further your studies... But it's interesting to see those young boys in that route at that age
so glad i found this channel, i would have never imagined men waking up in a animal costume onesie in Africa in my life. Especially a situation coming from an act of care and kindness of humanity.
Mike, you were so horrified by this rite of passage that you didn’t mention what it was. It left us viewers guessing it was a circumcision. I hope it wasn’t more than that. Yes, it is horrific especially at that age. Please clarify for your viewers. Usually, you are excellent on describing your experience. I was surprised by this one.😊
I can’t just post videos uncensored, showing breasts, chicken choking and snip snipping without receiving the full wrath of the automated RUclips Content flagging system. I wish I could show you everything, but that’s not the world we live in. I don’t even want to say certain words in videos. You’d be surprised what gets flagged, demonetized, and age restricted. I post uncensored versions on my Patreon where I don’t get punished. I didn’t want to even say the word!
At what age is circumcision more horrific? In Angola most man are circumcised. There are boys that are circumcised right on the first month after being born. The difference is that in most cases, circumcision is performed at the hospital with anestesia and proper care to avoid infections
You could have described what happened A bit better imo. This is an educational Chanel and medical procedures by educational channel usually get a pass. However I understand not wanting to show the circumcision but you could at least said the word circumcision to clarify for the viewer
New subscriber here, I found your channel through RUclips shorts and now I’m happily binging all your videos. Amazing work and message! Thank you for sharing your travels
I loved the explanation he gave at the end. It makes sense in their culture to do it this way. It's not a thoughtless snipsnap where they couldn't care less if the kids are hurting. Everyone cares a lot. Look at the father holding his son in his lap and keeping his son's eyes shut during the procedure. The father's heart was hurting so bad to see his son hurting. But he was there for him the best he knew how to. So the son also learns that no matter the misery in life, he can always count on his dad. And that's beautiful.
Yeah even though I want to cry bc I couldn't imagine my boy going through that at an older age you can see how their fathers care. It is hurting them too.
These experiences do look beautiful. But I'm not sure the world is as kind as you say it is. Places like this regularly suffer from drought, famine, infant mortality, and other horrors. The modern world has a lot of bad parts, but if the right compromise is struck between tradition and modernity, technology and medicine would make people like these a lot healthier and happier.
I also wonder how kind people would be without cameras rolling. People just have to be smart and try to make wise choices when traveling, especially if alone.
@@richardodeyunscripted no not at all! I’m not trying to imply that IS the case, and I don’t even mean any group of people in particular. I just wonder if it has any impact at all when one travels, and people know they are being recorded. There may be no difference whatsoever, or maybe with some people there is. Everyone is different. It’s a possibility.
@@naturequeene132 I think there is a selection bias in these videoes. He goes to places with tour guides, and they will probably not take him to places were the people are unfriendly. Also, I think they let the tribes know he's coming, and the tribes recieve payment (chickens in this case). Things may go differently I you'll just arrive there unannounced.
@@DRGRZ yes that’s a good point! And a better description of what I was intending to say… doesn’t have to be cameras involved but the arrangement might make a difference. Thank you for your input!

Fascinating culture & meaning behind the hair style and necklaces! Don't have to agree with all the customs etc but can't judge. Awesome to see & learn about another culture and see how they live their lives.
These videos are so refreshing. In the US even the poor people are still well off in comparison to the rest of the world . When I came home from Afghanistan I had forgotten how good I had it . I always loved seeing the kids there and playing ball with them . I hope I get to travel to more places soon . Love these videos
I disagree with hurting children, altering them for anything but purely medical reasons. But I’m only able to have that opinion because I’m able to ask questions, know the risks, hear stories and other peoples opinions from around the world, stories of people who experienced it first hand and to hear their views on it. I’m lucky to be able to have that opinion. These tribes, and these families don’t have that luxury, there’s probably a fear that if they don’t force their child to go through with it, then they will not be able to become an adult, to have responsibilities, a family. So I get it. I don’t like it, or agree with it, but I understand why it happens.
The world you and I come from. Has birthed lesbians, homosexual, transgender etc. with no sense of society which path if we all took there would be no humans left.
Angola is such an interesting place. It's where the tribes are so culturally rich that their rituals make your daily routine seem shockingly mundane. It's like a place where 'morning coffee' is replaced with 'fire-walking,' and 'happy hour' means dancing with masks, not sipping cocktails. Out of many countries I wished my dart would land, Angola is something I always consider.
😂😂😂😂That's just in the tribes, in the cities, no one lives the way you described! Unfortunately, they don't show the cities much, they always look for "deep Africa", whatever that may be... If you decide to come to Angola, go through the urban cities, learn a little about our history, struggles, our chaos😂, the our entertainment, etc.
They might not be interested in this but it would be cool if you brought a small photograph printer so you could take pictures of them together without their family and gift it to them!
just wanted to point out that menstruation and childbirth for women are also centered around struggle and pain and suffering! I think it’s a rite of passage for all humans ❤ thanks for what you do!
Dude this such an inspiring story. And I love your open mind mentality when learning about the different ways of life. I already do a bunch of travel but now my heart is set on more like these. Thank bro
I love how he isnt dispresoectful (like most men of this generation) when the ladies arent wearing a lot. Many many people are stupid and immature and disrespect cultures and womens bodies. Thats what happens when porn gets everyone addicted to it. Women dont become human to many men, and they will have no issue disrespecting women and culture. Like the aussie guy in japan that casually stepped into an all womens train cart casually and didnt care about the scared looks he recoeved from the women around him. So glad hes keeping things respectful 🙏
Circumcision is a horrible practice anywhere in the world, at any age. Unfortunately I am also one the victims of this. Of course I was an infant so I don't remember the pain, but I've still been mutilated. And it's still wrong. I definitely agree that men need struggle. Women too for that matter. But I'm against mutilation of any form. You don't have to have your body parts stolen from you to struggle or suffer.
Living in the feelie west? Confused about gender or do you believe there's more than 2? Get over it, it's life. Give thanks to the almighty for life. Enjoy the journey.
@@kwacou4279 Don't assume I'm a fuckin leftie retard just because I live in the west. I don't have any perverse confusions about men and women. I said I hate mutilation of any kind. The retards over here who think men can be women and etcetera love horrific mutilation. I can't accept things that I don't like and think are wrong. I'm a perfectionist and an idealist. I'm not gonna give that up, because giving that up would be giving up. Giving up on everything I believe in, everything I care about, everything I want, and everything I love. In the first place, circumcision has nothing to do with that stuff you were talking about in your reply. It's been practiced for thousands of years, along with lots of other horrible practices. Being against mutilation has nothing to do with being some pathetic "feelie" person as you put it. That last paragraph sorta made it sound like I don't like the past, but that couldn't be further from the truth. I despise the modern era, and think every previous age of human history was better than the present. Why would take a lot more explaining. I just don't want you to get the wrong Idea.
Anyone who says surgical male genital modification is nothing and completely fine, but surgical female genital modification is different and worse has no idea what these children go through. There is no excuse. It should not happen for either gender.
So I’m presume you are against gender affirming surgeries, transgender modifications as well? We cannot pick and choose what is right or wrong for anyone
@@fetuseater ohhh you were so super close like “Want a dollar, you’ll have to be quicker than that!” Close Given that there are still laws circumventing issues based on age. Such as individuals need to be 21 to gamble, and drink. 16 to drive and needing to be the age of 16-18 to consent to sex depending On the partners age (Romeo and Juliet law) 18 years even before a tattoo or piercing artist will consider permanently modifying one’s body. The hypocrisy is beaming from you!! In their culture that individual is now a man and was able to consent. He will now be able to marry and have children and begin his life of adulthood. @@Pandagurl218 what are you talking about? We’re talking about female genital mutilation on babies and children. Good for the ones who did it as adults or ended up liking it. That’s the whole point of my initial comment. But by its very invasive nature at the very moment you’re pressing AND practicing it on babies and little girls, that is criminal. Are you supporting this practice for the sake of culture? Under the name of culture anything could be suddenly turn good. Did you know that in Islam slavery was very legal? So what happens now?
The Angolans sold their own. Sure Europeans bought them but they didn’t come in and capture these people their own people did and brought them to be sold.
Ok but they was still captured and enslaved by the Western Europeans .. let’s not just throw the Europeans around .. because you quick to say Russians or Georgians is not Europeans when it suits you but soon as it’s about some evil slavery shit the British Spanish Portuguese did its all of sudden the “Europeans “ nah don’t put that jacket on everybody ! Let’s call a spade a spade ! beautiful that you showed them break dance, bcs capoeira even though it was fully developed in Brasil, has roots in Angola and break dance has roots in capoeira...(as well as kung fu ofc), so basically you brought them back what originated within their tribes, traveled through south and north america, traveled through centuries...you brought the result of their art back home to them :)
this is beautiful

I think it is sometimes hard to draw the line between bravery and foolishness but the best way to find that out is to go out and discover it yourself. It's cool that they did this while you were there to document it for the future.
I enjoy watching your videos, seeing different tribes and rituals and such. Its amazing how little of the world we know! Love your work man ❤
Ugh, a tribal desert circumcision has gotta be the most brutal thing I could imagine. That's wild. But, after hearing the translated reasoning, it really does make some sense in many ways.
So you haven't heard about female circumsision before? :( It's hard to hear them cry, but what many tribes do to the girls is way more brutal and dangerous.
11:19 That's probably the purest hug I've ever seen.
I understand people are making more money with shorter content.. but I would have liked to see more details about the rituals, a longer video!

Always enjoying your videos. Dealing with some stuff in my life and somehow, this video has taught me a lot and it did put some things in perspective. Everybody needs breaks, but cool to see you again!
When white south Africans make videos about fearing for their lives from current events going on in south Africa, I believe them.

Right these people are thankful the animal died for them but people here just chow down bacon and chicken nuggets without thinking once about the animal that suffered for them
Your videos never disappoint 💯 can’t wait till my family can take out trip to Africa 💪🏽

Great comment and so true!! “you don’t watch the news, you’re disinformed, if you do watch you’re misinformed” 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Circumcision
I can’t just post videos uncensored, showing breasts, chicken choking and snip snipping without receiving the full wrath of the automated RUclips Content flagging system. I wish I could show you everything, but that’s not the world we live in. I don’t even want to say certain words in videos. You’d be surprised what gets flagged, demonetized, and age restricted. I post uncensored versions on my Patreon where I don’t get punished. I didn’t want to even say the word!
@@fearlessandfar Ok, I understand. Thanks
I keep watching you over again about the news and the world being kind. Live it up man. Luv your videos. 🖤 My name is Jen💫
The long wait is over 😂 watching now
New subscriber here, I found your channel through RUclips shorts and now I’m happily binging all your videos.
Yup. You nailed it.
Agreed. His fathers face looked pained as well.
Yeah even though I want to cry bc I couldn't imagine my boy going through that at an older age you can see how their fathers care. It is hurting them too.
Having the bear minimum empathy while letting someone mutilate your kid's body isn't commendable, and y'all aren't good people for endorsing it.
😤
Dude...i am STOKED to see you out there makin these super exotic Afria vids..soo entertaining..plz keep it up and be safe
Really? Do you mean we're unkind when no camera is rolling?

How much do you know about GIRLS and FMG!!???!!!!???!?!?!?! I hope you DON'T understand why THIS happens to GIRLS and HOW it is done
I was feeling down …I love ur encouragement and everyone seem so happy with just the smaller things🙏❤️😇
You keep on doing what you do...informing us about the different part of the world we cant be able to reach.❤❤
They might not be interested in this but it would be cool if you brought a small photograph printer so you could take pictures of them together without their family and gift it to them!
That’s a great idea!

I think prior generations of men were a lot worse than today’s generation.
I like how he makes everything sound very interesting , I am here enjoying ❤
Circumcision is a horrible practice anywhere in the world, at any age. Unfortunately I am also one the victims of this. Of course I was an infant so I don't remember the pain, but I've still been mutilated. And it's still wrong.
I definitely agree that men need struggle. Women too for that matter. But I'm against mutilation of any form. You don't have to have your body parts stolen from you to struggle or suffer.
I was circumcised when I was 10 on my own decision but probably our tradition have an influence in my decision.
Amazing video!!

Anyone who says surgical male genital modification is nothing and completely fine, but surgical female genital modification is different and worse has no idea what these children go through. There is no excuse. It should not happen for either gender.
So I’m presume you are against gender affirming surgeries, transgender modifications as well?

Given that there are still laws circumventing issues based on age.
