Like Russia didn't have to agree to stealth being the defining factor of 5th gens but they did and tried to design the SU 57 around that. I accidentally did the same my first time. I see a mostly air to ground mission, I grab my favourite air to ground aircraft. When Mihaly shown up with an Wivern, I facepalmed, only to take it down with the gun.
Weirdly cause of its slow speed it makes it a beast for dog fighting in campaign cause even air craft fastwr than you take longer to adjust their trajectory so leave you in a position to line and 1st while having complete vertical and horizontal control
i do think the gun is underrated in ace combat, missiles are so much less effective than they are irl,but if you manage to actually aim the gun it cant pretend the missiles dont know how to hit a target in fuckiing visual range
I've played some ace combat myself, and from my observation, the missile is less effective due to it *always* following the afterburner.. that's why 6 o clock shots are required to use QAAM, otherwise it won't connect 😭😭
I went into the game blind and used the a10 for a good chunk until like mission 6 or 7 when you first fight mihaly That took me like 2 tries at 20 minutes each and then I save quit to use the f-14D which for someone new to ace combat was much much easier
The first time I did Battle for Farbanti was in the Su-34, but given that's also the aircraft I've used for some of my fastest times against him on First Contact and I use it now and again in multiplayer, and it has thrust vectoring, this definitely looks harder. So I think if I'm gonna know what this fight is like to do I'm just gonna take an A-10 and go do it. Might make it stock too.
I did this once on my first play through of the game in easy difficulty (i thought itll be easy). So, i wasn't expecting a boss battle. So for how many hours i finally destroyed Mihaly with an A-10

In the 1.0 game the A-10s brrrt was actually very effective versus aircraft. They literally had to nerf it.
