If you want to see a ship excursion in St. Maarten here’s my ATV adventure Exploring St. Maarten - MSC Seaside Cruise Vlog 2019 ruclips.net/video/1dLDDXyid2o/видео.html
My favorite thing to do in St. Maarten was going to Maho beach and watching the planes come in right over the water and beach. A short taxi ride, good food and drink at the nearby bar. They even had a surfboard with the arrival times on it.
My wife and I just arrived safely home from our first cruise vacation. We both loved it. The only bad thing is that it ended. Thankfully we were blessed with beautiful weather and calm seas the entire trip. Thank you very much for your tips, tricks, and advice. It really helped a great deal. My wife would ask me questions and I knew quite a bit of the answers because of the awesome CruiseTube community. Again thanks for all the help and can’t wait to try another. Thanks Tony and Jenny B.
Have to say I have really enjoyed this series. The news is interesting, helpful, but I love seeing the vlog style cruises, things to do onboard, and forays into port and excursions.
Love Love watching the "walk along" vids w/ you!!! It is like a mini 20 min couch cruise watching your vids!!! You are more appreciated than you think!!! Safe travels home!!
We have truly enjoyed every port stop and are sad that your cruise is coming to an end . We have been to all of these ports which made traveling along with you even more fun! Great job and very well presented! Thank you, Tony!😊
The symbol on the hull is most likely to tell you there is an Azipod in the water. You will often see a X in a circle for thrusters or fixed propellers.
We took our grandson to meet him. Our grandson is autistic and covers his ears when noise is loud. Nick recognized the symptoms and when he spoke to our grandson, he knelt down to make eye contact and spoke softly to him. I was almost in tears. Nick gave him a book he wrote and autographed it. My grandson was sooooo happy, he hugged him.
We loved Nick and his museum last year. He took time to really talk to our teenagers about their futures and offer advice and it was such a special, touching conversation that he would take time out of his day to have a meaningful conversation with them. I will always recommend anyone to go to his museum. Such an awesome experience.
I'll recap my cruise excursion under NCL in St Maarten as quickly as I can in May 2023. Bottom line it was a nightmare. The excursion was the normal bus cruise around the island exploring both Dutch and French sides of the island. Started at 11:30 on a Sunday when we docked and 90+ degrees already at start. Excursion was 30 mins late, and everybody was standing in a line on that dock. No water, no food, no chairs and no shade provided. When we finally got on the buses (6 total) we were told that the island on both sides of the island are closed for Sundays. We get to the other side and we had 1 hour to get back to the buses. No bathrooms at the drop off, and only 2 food joints were open which 6 buses of people converge on. Food never arrived as we had to cancel our orders and get back on the buses. TOTAL FAILURE of the excursion tour company and never once notifying us of any Sunday issues.
What stands out in this cruise series is how clean the ports are and reasonably free of crowds of folks crawling all over folks trying to sell stuff or begging for money. They also seem reasonably safe to walk, even for a single women. Folks can actually stroll the area in peace and enjoy themselves! Quite refreshing! ❤️
We have been to St. Marteen 3 times, the last time we went to Orient Beach where we didn't have to wear clothes. Tony would have had to bleach his eyes if he had seen us. 😞
Thanks Tony we really really enjoyed it! We really like when you do these walking tours at the port any idea how much the taxi would’ve been instead of the water taxi and they really like the way you sound now thanks again🥰🛳️🦩🏖️⚓️🛟
To the right side of the beach nude. Left side is family and clothes. Been many times and the nude side is always people who should have never taken their clothes off.
Because my last 2 cruises were Carnival and special and fun and not crazy...this is double the fun. Thanks so much,,,I love your taking us on the trip. thanks for another great one and making this a working break.
Thanks for the memory of my visit last February when I was there. I did my excursion with Chan’s 20/20 Vision, she wad excellent. Chan actually was on your cruise. The highlight was Moho beach.
Love St. Maarten !! One of our favorite spots. I highly recommend going to Maho Beach to see the planes coming in over your head!! And for the young adventurous type, trying to stand in the jet wash of a plane taking off. Easy to get to. Take one of their buses, $2/person each way. Keep up the great videos!!!
We stopped in St Maarten years ago on the HAL Noordam. It was a similarly beautiful day. It was nice to see the sites with you again Tony. Thanks for letting us ride along. 😊
Brought back many memories… We were there in Saint Maarten for our anniversary - February 14, 2023 on the Enchanted Princess - looking forward to going back again next year on Majestic Princess and we plan to take the Water Taxi - we will be looking for lobster roll and Carib instead of coffee. Thanks for the tour - your cruise itinerary looked fabulous! Thanks Tony.
Was in Sint Maarten a month ago... Walked to Philipsburg in the morning and then took a scenic coastal hiking excursion, complete with iguanas, along a section of beautiful rugged undeveloped coast to Geneve Bay.
My all time favorite port. I always bring back a few bottles of that wonderful Sint Maarten guavaberry rum. The small shops have hand painted bottles of it.
St Maarten, flew down twice and cruised there twice. Was there for a week when Hurricane Irma blew through and destroyed the island. That was fun. But we love the place. And yes, they have really fixed up that cruise port since the destruction by hurricane Irma. That's why it all, beach and dock area, look so new. Good view of it all. Had you continued down the shopping street when you took that right turn you would have seen the casino. Looks like a fun trip. Thanks.
We were about the last ship before Irma. Been back since, nicely fixed up! Takes to one the vendors I knew, he said they had little damage in the shops especially at this store area.
Good to know. I will be sailing on Rhapsody, out of San Juan, early Sept., to the last 5 ports in the Southern Caribbean I have not been to~ St. Croix, St. Maarten, Antigua, St.Lucia and Barbados. Thanks for the shopping tips on St. Maarten.
My favorite island!! My first time there we had to take a tender from the ship and they let us off where you got off the water taxi and the whole boardwalk was not there. Love the videos Tony. Makes me want to go on another cruise
I think this is one of my favorite videos you have done Tony. Love the walk about and your commentary. Great video that makes me want to go to St Marteen.
St. Maarten got SO beat up with the hurricanes. We went there in 2020 and they were still slowly rebuilding. Port of Happy Hour was fun. Decent prices, decent food. lol The Blue "W"itch Bar was fun.
Love St Maarten. We go a few times a year just for a long weekend getaway. We live in Naples, FL and there are 2 daily non-stop flights out of MIA so we drive over, leave the car and go. There are many flights our of RSW but they are all 1 or 2 stops, no direct flights and takes longer and wastes a lot of time you could be where you want to go instead of waiting in an airport.. Oh, and the croissants with Gouda and ham filling are to die for!!! Like St Lucia too, but it's harder to get to and we usually do a week there.
St. Maarten was great, we loved this truly beautiful island. On my cruise last year, we got some great pictures in the cruise port side (right in front of the St. Maarten welcome sign). Was wondering if you would capture any image of the caves forming up alongside the mountains; seems like you did but hadn't focused on them; we thought that the caves were pretty cool even if they were inaccessible. We also got a big kick out of all the free roaming roosters near the Atlas Statue. We did a kayaking excursion. They bus you to the other side of the island. Then you kayak (in kayak's built for two) for about 1 1/2 hours around the pier and under a bridge on the Dutch side of the island. It's definitely a work out, but loads of fun (and yes some folks will collide into your kayak). The main guide regales you with all kinds of stories about how the Dutch and the French side borders were determined. Then he takes you to a cove filled with conch shells along the shoreline, and jellyfish in the waters. The stories were hilarious (not necessarily 100% believable), but he truly knows how to engage the group. There are also a couple of extra guides rowing along there to make sure your safe, and able to keep up with the main group; they would give you a helping hand if you needed it (impressive given that they have to also guide their own kayak at the same time). When you are done kayaking, they feed you. Just wish I had used more sunscreen (legs were burning for the next couple of days). Definitely would recommend using a lot of sunscreen if you do this excursion, particularly on your legs as they will get wet a lot, and have the greatest exposure.
My husband and i were on the Reflection that same day you were on Carnival, this past week. We Love your RUclipss!! We would have Loved Meeting you!! If we had only kown!!!! .... we did Moho Beah w planes flying in every 15 or 30 min! It was my Husbands long time bucket list dream and was definitely worth it. It was a Reflection official Excursion! The blue blue ocean, soft sand, Sunset bar n grill lunch, lovely people!! Highly recommend! But we certainly would have liked to meet you Tony! Hope your trip was as enjoyable. We just disembarked today, 4/21/24. Celebrity Reflection was a perfect cruise for us!!! St Martin right near top destinations too!
Thanks very much Tony we really enjoyed watching your cruise vlog The great way you capture day to day life gives us a really good feel of ports you visited and the Carnival Pride.
Nobody is having g as nice of a day as you are - unless they are also in St Maarten! I love these "walking through port" videos. Helps me to know which one's I WANT to go to!
I was there the same day as Icon and a different ship so it was wild 🤪. We caught a taxi to Orient Beach but couldn't enjoy it for fear of getting back in time. Then we did a bus and boat tour. Its beautiful, but the clock goes fast
Thanks, Tony…great presentation. Our first cruise ever was late November, 2022 on the Celebrity Reflection. We took the bus tour you inquired about in St Maarten. It was great, but when we return, we’ll try the Tours by Tony: St Maarten Extravaganza!!! The best to you and Jenny B.
I can’ t remember the date we were last here. My husband passed in 2015. But, prior to his death it was a while that we didn’t sail. We loved St Maarten. My husband would always buy cigars. The was a tiny shop that sold knock off watches. You could tell the Rolodex were knock offs since the ticked the minutes. I had a favorite store that always had Laramar jewelry. It comes from the Dominican Reublic, and it had gotten very hard to find. I have a nice collection. The pieces in silver were usually around $25-$75 each. Now it’s a stone you can find online at multiple vendors. It’ d no loner available at $ 20:57 75 per piece
Thanks for taking us along and showing us all of the ways around St. Maarten’s love this island and it’s one of the ports of call for our cruise next February. Will definitely stop at the Coffee Lounge for breakfast or lunch.
Wasn't gonna comment till you got me with Schnitzel lol Enjoyed your casual relaxing tour. Also your looking good these days! The one with the best scar wins!
I love St. Martin, I was all booked a few years ago when the big hurricane hit. My hotel was completely demolished. Great Bay Beach resort. I was just there a few months before the hurricane. It was terrible to see on the internet, all the damage. So I’m happy to watch this and see that it’s back in business. Tony, your looking great!
Hi Tony. I think I would just spend the day in port eating my way around. 😊 Maybe a little time on the beach, just because! Another great adventure with perfect weather. As always thank you for all you do ❤️
“Do you know what this port needs… Diamond international “ 🤣 I don’t know why, but I found that hilarious Exactly what any port needs to make it pop! 🤣🤣
Just a few observations! Great commentary. I haven't been to St. Maarten since 2001. I know a few hurricanes caused major damage and things had to be rebuilt. So much looks completely different. They even relocated the piers. The Coffee Lounge had reasonable prices for the Caribbean! You should have tried a Guavaberry Colada. They are delicious. We purchased four bottles of Guavaberry Rum! I believe the "missile symbol' you joked about indicates where the Azipod is located or that the ship has an Azipod system.
Sorry your hop-on didn’t work out but glad you took water taxi. Have always done excursions there and was planning to do water taxi next time in St Maarten now I know process. Always enjoy watching your tours when you are in port.
St.Maarten has always been our favorite it is usually a chill day for us. We take the water taxi to the pier. We take a left and walk down the beach a little way. We usually pay $10 for a couple loungers and they also bring you a bucket of beer. We even order burgers and fries from the person helping with lounge chairs and they bring us the food. One time the person helping us had a daughter the same age as our daughter and they played on the beach and in the water while my wife and I sipped on rum punch under an umbrella.
We were in St. Maarten a few years ago. We went to Maho Beach on our excursion. It was a fun day of swimming and watching airplanes. The water was awesome and the weather was perfect that day. We had a great time.
As I sit here in 40 degree weather I long for another cruise to the Caribbean and the next one will have to include St Maarten. It looks like the perfect stop. Thanks for the tour.
@2:20 the symbol means the ships' Azipod is directly below it under the hull The spirit class has two Azipods so you will see the same marking on the other side. Other notable markings you will see is a circle with an X in it...which denotes where the thrusters are located below. At the bow, if the vessel has a bulbous bow below the waterline that is marked as well forward of the bow thruster markings.
Thanks for the tour. I love seeing these places with you. Your commentary is enjoyable and informative. Loved when you ran into folks from the Loca Fam in the swimming pool along the boardwalk. 😀🩵
I love that line, “I’m afraid to go in there. I can see goodies from the distance.” That’s exactly my thought every time I pass by a place like that!🤣🤣🤣 Then “the fact that cheesy bread makes me salivate. Could be a character flaw…” I don’t think so but cheesy bread does the same for me and now I want cheesy bread! Thanks Tony!🤣 Another great video! Loving these port stop videos.

Cool thanks for linking this. And thanks for all your informative helpful content
The "missile" you're seeing at the aft on the outside is the symbol for azipod propulsion. It's located right under there.
Thanks … I sail for a living in the Caribbean and I did not know that.
My favorite thing to do in St. Maarten was going to Maho beach and watching the planes come in right over the water and beach. A short taxi ride, good food and drink at the nearby bar. They even had a surfboard with the arrival times on it.
This. Also, the departures on the same beach, watching people trying to remain upright from the jet blast.
Go a few blocks into port, and get full-length sun dresses for $5 and St. Maartin T-shirts 5 for $20! Lots of friendly people and great food too!
My wife and I just arrived safely home from our first cruise vacation. We both loved it. The only bad thing is that it ended. I love watching your adventures to these different cruise ports, as well as your ship tours.
St Maarten is one of my favorite islands...your walk brought back many memories! Cant wait to go back! Thank you Tony!
I’ve only ever done the water taxi to downtown and love it. One of the best easily accessible public beaches I’ve found yet in the Caribbean!
You can also walk it… 8 1/4 min
It takes less time to walk the flat, nicely landscaped side of road than to walk to the boat taxi and wait for it!
This is our all-time favorite port of call. We've been here 12 times and love it. We'll be heading back in November for our 50th anniversary cruise
The mines been running out for 30 years
I will be visiting later this year for the first time. What has been your most memorable experience in St Maarten?
I’ve been to St Maarten 6 times, by plane, by sailboat, and by Celebrity Reflection! By far the best shopping in the Caribbean!
Tony I really enjoy your tours at different ports great information and great humor thank you for sharing!
We have truly enjoyed every port stop and are sad that your cruise is coming to an end . We have been to all of these ports which made traveling along with you even more fun! Great job and very well presented! Thank you, Tony!😊
Being from & living in PR St Maarten is one of a couple of islands I don't get tired of visiting.
when those people in the pool said they were from Canada, I was sure you were going to say "oh, you must know Don Terris"
😂😂😂😂 understand as a Canadian!!
I’ve so enjoyed the break from news and following your travels.
Tony you should’ve gone to Maho beach and hang out at the Sunset Grill next to the beach. You could’ve watched the planes land and take off!!
Tony your commentary is legendary! Thanks for taking us along with you.
Thanks for sharing St. Maarten with me, Tony. Always enjoy my time there when cruising the Caribbean.
Thanks for the tour Tony. St Maarten has changed a lot since I was last there.
The symbol on the hull is most likely to tell you there is an Azipod in the water. You will often see a X in a circle for thrusters or fixed propellers.
I was about to say the same thing. Spirit class had azipods.
I was looking for this comment!! Thank you for sharing 😊
There's also symbols for stabilizer and bulbous bow.
Great job Tony, as you continue on your 14 day cruise. Thanks for your time and doing a thorough job at the port.
Great day in St.Marten Tony!! Loved spending it with you. It is one of our favorite islands ! Thank you for taking us along!
Have you looked for "The Yoda Guy" museum? Nick Maley has a lot of Star Wars memorabilia and art. He created Yoda for Star Wars..
Yes!! Was just coming here to comment the same! We were there 7-8 years ago. So grateful he's still there! Tony would love this place!
@@tanya_az229 yes it was a great place to visit a visit with Nick
We loved Nick and his museum last year. He took time to really talk to our teenagers about their futures and offer advice and it was such a special, touching conversation that he would take time out of his day to have a meaningful conversation with them. Thanks Tony! I have been there many times over the past 20 years! I have never taken the water taxi, but now am excited to do that!
Loving these cruise/port walk alongs!
As always thank you for all you do ❤️
“Do you know what this port needs… Diamond international “
🤣
I don’t know why, but I found that hilarious
Exactly what any port needs to make it pop!
I love watching your cruising journeys Tony ❤ I'm a much bigger fan of your vlogs then when you're just sitting down talking.
Thank you for the Port Review of Sr. Maarten. It's one of our ports we will stop at in May 2024. Really enjoyed your view.
Thanks for your views and the cruise news
We were in St. Maarten a few years ago. We went to Maho Beach on our excursion. It was a fun day of swimming and watching airplanes. The water was awesome and the weather was perfect that day. We had a great time.
Yes! Maho is a lot of fun.
Very cool. Thanks!
Thanks for the tour. I love seeing these places with you. Your commentary is enjoyable and informative. Loved when you ran into folks from the Loca Fam in the swimming pool along the boardwalk. 😀🩵
I love that line, “I’m afraid to go in there. I can see goodies from the distance.”
That’s exactly my thought every time I pass by a place like that!🤣🤣🤣
Then “the fact that cheesy bread makes me salivate. Could be a character flaw…”
I don’t think so but cheesy bread does the same for me and now I want cheesy bread! Thanks Tony!🤣
Another great video! Loving these port stop videos.
Memories! Thank you we will be back soon!
Tony, you missed the Guavaberry Emporium on Front Street, best coladas ever.
I love the Southern Caribbean and your port videos have been so enjoyable. Thank you!
I loved your video!! Have been twice to St Maarten where I took an excursion and never saw any of this. Great info!!!
A new La Lida Loca video, it's a good day.
Thank you, Tony.
