My fave channel! Thank you so much, as I just decided to build an EDH deck. As a U - U/W control player, I refused to play creatures-heavy decks. Then Noyan Dar came out xD Blue is love, blue is life
I think this list of awesome blue cheap cards could go on forever. I'll add a small list of a few of my own favourites for the cheap: -Crysal Shard -Trusted Advisor - negate -Mnemonic Wall -deep analysis -Standstill (espescially with negate!) -turnabout What I like about the blue creatures is that they're very annoying and cheap enough to be able to be bounced very cheaply but ripple off big effects from tapping down a board to allowing lots of silly combos! Surprised u didn't mention Diluvian Primordial it's cheaper than almost everything in this video!
Polymorph is narrow, but it is cheap and is insane in my Talrand deck. And I'm using 3 budget targets (which are also very good on their own): Sphinx of Uthuun, Diluvian Primordial and Scourge of Fleets.
Another great video Wedge! Personally, I like Mnemonic wall over Archaeomancer, even though it costs an additional mana. I think a 0/4 is better than a 1/2 and the mana cost is only 4U instead of 2UU (Because we've all been mana screwed before :( ) Anyways, I'm looking forward to the rest of this series!
I've got the sad situation of playing in a playgroup that's smart. I rarely get to draw off of Rhystic Study or Mystic Remora. That being said, I slow them down in the process, so it's win/win.
Thanks wedge. I have been trying to make an infinite turn combo for a while I just couldn't bring myself to drop 30 dollars on a time warp so 3 for walk the aeons is more than acceptable. You are the sole reason I ruin my friends lives. Lol
I'd like to add to this video with a few blue cards I really like in Commander that are under $5 and were not mentioned in this video. I'll put the current TCGPlayer average price after each card too. AEtherspouts is a fantastic way to destroy someone's plan to swing out at you for the win, and will set them back very far, maybe a little more/less depending on if they are token heavy. Also, it's a rare in M15, so not too hard to get currently. ($0.75) Cyclonic Rift is one of the best psuedo-board wipes in blue and is a great way to clear a path to win the game that turn or as a reset button for everyone but you. One of the more powerful instants in EDH in my opinion. ($2.99) Diluvian Primodial is a cool big thing that is a potentially game-changing card due to the power to be able to play and then exile your opponents' cool/important instants and sorceries that they already played. ($0.28) Rite of Replication is a really awesome and really funny card to play. More often than not, it can be the reason you win a game. Want 5 Avenger of Zendikars, which means like 45 Plants at least? How about 5 big, dumb Dragons? You can do all that for just 9 mana. There's a reason this card is at the high end of the budget curve. ($4.49) Thanks for reading through this and I hope it helped at least somewhat relevant to how much Wedge and the TMS guys did. :D
Great show! Can't wait for Green though. Ugh, why does Green have to be the last colour in WUBRG order. It's OBVIOUSLY the best, I mean who doesn't like big things? :P Also, I really think Cyclonic rift deserves a place on this list, the amount of blowouts an EOT overloaded rift can have against players without a reliquary tower is pretty horrific.
I really need get an rule where Deadeye Navigator's are banned from Commander. The problem with the card itself is just how degenerate it makes the game. With enough mana, its near impossible to remove and comboing it with cards like Mystic Snake really just... makes the game broken in a way that its not fun. Fortunately, in multiplayer the guy who runs such a combo gets picked off nearly immedialety. Cyclonic Rift on the other hand aint actually such an degenerate card. Of course its an one-sided wrath effect, but I havent found it hard to come back from it. At that point, I usually have the mana to cast my stuff back immedialety. Anyway, I hope to see more of these videos from you Wedge! Always nice to see cards that I have never heard of before :)
I played against a mono green player and I knew his deck and knew blightsteel collossus was in it. He played a turn 1 concordant crossroads after I hit 4 mana turn 1. (land, sol ring, talisman of progress) I played acquire turn 2 and won...
Hey when you did the spoiler for m15 you mentioned trying to make a kurkesh artifact edh deck. Any chance of getting a video of the deck tech in the near future?
Hey mana source, could i ask a favor? Recently i pulled a foil brago, king eternal, and have been interested in making a commander deck around him. The problem is, I don't have a lot of money to spend, and my knowledge of cards doesn't span that far. Do you think you could do a budget commander deck tech around brago, king eternal and flicker effects? Btw, love your channel
It took me a year and a half of playing but blue is my favorite color to play. i like to be "In Control" and i love Prognostic Sphinx! and all sphinxes. fave color combo is Blue/White and 3 color combo is Esper but post rotation i'll probably be going for USA control. What about you Wedge? btw what would you say is the best Blue/White general for a control based commander? right now i'm using Isperia lol
so this has nothing to do with vid but you should talk about how to change our uw control decks to good modern decks for cheap since so many of use spent so much on them already and some of the cards are still powerful
So, I have a request (i'm not sure if I can do that), but... yeah. I'm looking forward to build an EDH deck with Phelddagrif as the commander. I don't play very often and when I do, I do it with friends. I'm looking for fun cards (not extremely good overpowered cards) to play in conjunction with the hippo-thingy. Could you make a Budget (or not) video about cards that will make you and your opponents have fun? TL;DR: I'm looking for fun cards to play with. Like... Phelddagrif.
If black is next im going to start having nightmares..... Alot of people play MonoBlack "no one plays anything" deck on MTGO because all the black tutors can be obtained with less than 10 bucks, while the rest of the cards in the deck like Pox and Smallpox cost less than a dollar each. The amount of Turn 2 The Abyss, Turn 3 Mana Web, Turn 4 Smokestack, Turn 6 Contamination is way too common there... Of course this will never happen in real life because those are mostly nonbudget cards in real life... but MTGO card market prices scares me.
I agree, it was broken with the Primordial, but it's just as broken with any of the untap land creatures, counterspell creatures, or destroy land creatures. It seems to go against the reason for the format, fun. Should be banned.
Lol, speaking of the card "bribery" when I was new to the game, I traded one of those, a scavenging ooze, a RISHADAN PORT, a breeding pool and an elspeth for only 85$! I had no idea I was being ripped off. The rishadan port alone is worth 120$!.... :-(
This list is quite thorough, however I would certainly add one card to it which I'm sure has won more commander games than any other single card: Cyclonic Rift - gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=389477 This is the single most hated card in my playgroup, and I haven't ever seen a blue deck without it. Its price is just around 5$ so it should make the list.
To hell with all of you. Green is the best color in EDH. Number one thing that all decks have in common, they need land to work. Green gets your land out faster, so you can do it first. Wedge, you got to make the best green EDH list video. Back me up here
Blue the best color? Wedge please everyone knows black is where its at. :3 1st: Black 2nd: Blue 3rd: White 4th: Green 5th: Red. Best three color combo: White/Blue/Black. :3
Hey! You're missing the best blue card EVER!!!! Eye of the Storm!!! (maybe not the most recurrent but trust me, if you master that card you master the game)
Deshawn Davis Definitely didn't forget. The Rift is great, but we figured it was an obvious inclusion for most people and it was recently printed so even newer players knew about it. We wanted to focus on cards that maybe some newer players hadn't heard of yet(Blatant Thievery) or really paid attention to(Archaeomancer).
waitttttt a second, hold the kitties, this list doesnt include THE best blue edh card. I mean really, where is Future Sight? The card literally wins games on its own, it is literally the most broken card advantage engine in blue and with a recent reprint can be had for under 1$. It doesnt seem intuitive to newer players, but Future Sight is a beast.
time walk cards need to be banned and thrown into the sun and anyone who plays them needs a kick in the nuts with spiked boots. you mention the top with trinket mage yet you did not pair it with future sight??? also, the best color is ALL OF THEM. 5 color FTW
Blue the best color? Wedge please everyone knows black is where its at. :3 1st: Black 2nd: Blue 3rd: White 4th: Green 5th: Red. Best three color combo: White/Blue/Black. :3
I don't always play blue.... but when i do i take all the turns and draw all the cards
john wilda ^^^ Best shirt.
I love it when do the shirts and sleeves and playmats come out lol
My fave channel! Thank you so much, as I just decided to build an EDH deck. As a U - U/W control player, I refused to play creatures-heavy decks. Then Noyan Dar came out xD

As someone who just started playing edh this was amazingly good tips, thanks :D
Just starting to get into EDH so I'm looking forward to more!
Holy crap i'm definately getting recurring insight for my Kami of the crescent moon EDH deck.
Polymorph is narrow, but it is cheap and is insane in my Talrand deck. And I'm using 3 budget targets (which are also very good on their own): Sphinx of Uthuun, Diluvian Primordial and Scourge of Fleets.

Why not both? *mexican music*

Great show!

Getting an archaeomancer will be a SNAP. You exceed my ability to make puns :-)
Still, often times more broken than snapcaster mage in commander.
with trinket mage you could also have mentioned fabricate and treasure mage but other then that good video

Enter the Infinite + Elixer of Immortality (after you have to discard).
Super risky, but achieves maximum lulz.
Will kurkesh's ability work on doom engine's ability when used with shrapnel blast for a total of 17 damage?
would kurkesh's ability work with shrapnel blast and scuttling doom engine?
so this has nothing to do with vid but you should talk about how to change our uw control decks to good modern decks for cheap since so many of use spent so much on them already and some of the cards are still powerful
omg archaeomancer let me abuse pull from tomorrow like 6 times. awesome card
Deadeye navigator and Cloud of Faeries= Infinite blinks and add vela for infinite damage
On what plane is blue the best color?!?! This video needs more Slivers.
pjsfn GET OUT OF HERE!
TheManaSource
Blues the best color until I play price of glory and then they cry all day long.
TheManaSource TIMMY!

my favourite colours are by far blue and red, Izzet FTW
Ikr! Niv-Mizzet is a boss as well

Deadeye navigator can do some broken games, not super fun for anybody else when that happen.
PIZZLEdeTWIZZLE Yeah....yeahhhhhhhhh

Asher Quirion :( I'm here for you!
Sounds like a good trade
This list is quite thorough, however I would certainly add one card to it which I'm sure has won more commander games than any other single card:

Bluuueeee!! :D #bestcolorinmagic
literaturegeek ^^^ My hero!
I know right!
No one color is best in magic. i never make a pack with less then 2 colors in it.
it is easy to fined a way to block or kill all cards of one color.
+Nate L Black and Blue have the edge though
Chris Herold red and white, or black and green.
Wedge if you could add some cheap tutor, it would be awesome :)
Green is the best .Garruk says hello.
Another card advantage tool is MIND UNBOUND. What do you think?
wat no brainstorm and company?
thank you, just *starts crying* thank you.
Kevin Aziz Xd
Thank you sir
you guys should do a collab with tollarian community college
Don't think that allusion to snapcaster mage got away.
Cyclonic Rift?
Yaaaaaay! Blue!!!!! :D
William Josh McCarthy WWWWOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Fancy Coat I don't think Wedge or any of us like you telling us to go to hell... I think you need to also learn that Wedge loves blue
Blue the best color? Wedge please everyone knows black is where its at. :3
1st: Black
2nd: Blue
3rd: White
4th: Green
5th: Red.
Best three color combo: White/Blue/Black. :3
Blue is the best? Ha! My black magic disagrees! Come on Wedge, show us what black has next!
MadaraStv HOW DID YOU KNOW THE NEXT COLOR!!?!??!?! WIZARD!
TheManaSource
its because no one realized you do them in order of the color wheel yet.
No green is da best
Or maybe red
+latorquemada LOL, certainly not in EDH.
Hey! You're missing the best blue card EVER!!!! Eye of the Storm!!! (maybe not the most recurrent but trust me, if you master that card you master the game)
I have storm commander deck
Black > All
Will you be doing every colour? I want to BURN things! Nudge nudge wink wink... :D

SKULL CLAMP! CLAMP ALL THE SKULLS, BURN ALL THE TOKENS!!!
sinecurve9999 >
whatev's yall be roast'd by turn sevn wit my red deck
I refuse to play with dead eye navigator. That shouldn't have been printed and broken cards, shouldn't be accepted. It is banned for me.
Sad fact...some of these cards are now $10 or more
White. Forever. Period.
but...but....but..counterspell?
under $5? consecrated sphinx is about $20!
This video was made 2 years ago, prices change...
How could u forget the most busted card in edh right now, CYCLONIC RIFT!!!!
No seriously it should be banned in multiplayer
Shocked too, that card is so damn powerful.
Deshawn Davis Definitely didn't forget. The Rift is great, but we figured it was an obvious inclusion for most people and it was recently printed so even newer players knew about it. We wanted to focus on cards that maybe some newer players hadn't heard of yet(Blatant Thievery) or really paid attention to(Archaeomancer).

this is almost exactly the same list as your best blue cards for edh....
blue players die first. and this is why.
poppaDehorn In my experience it is typically Kaalia players that die first
time walk cards need to be banned and thrown into the sun and anyone who plays them needs a kick in the nuts with spiked boots.
you mention the top with trinket mage yet you did not pair it with future sight???
also, the best color is ALL OF THEM. 5 color FTW

4th: Green
5th: Red.

I prefer Grixis to Esper but to each his own.
laucorn123 HEY HEY HEY!
Azorius 4 lyfe!
TheManaSource Esper 4 lyfe!
Blue > Black
But yes, Esper is life. :3
