Bro, Kaldheim reworked my Sliver Deck almost entirely. Spiteful Sliver now works as a kill opponent button with Hivelord in play, because Orvar the All-Form allows you to copy Spiteful Sliver multiple times
+Richard Rominger Slivers are nasty. I occasionally pit my edh decks against each other, and whenever I randomly pair one with my slivers I basically consider it to be a boss fight. Sliver mid to endgame is overwhelmingly broken, since all your creatures are usually giant unblockable vampire nighthawks with shroud and double strike.
Slivers was my first Commander deck. One thing I particularly enjoy about them is that they remind me of the alien franchise aliens. Sort of a fantasy version of those. On the other hand, they win so much that it's not that fun playing against them and these days I only play them against decks that all my other decks fail against. They are sort of my last resort deck. But they sure are fun to play with. Also: best wishes from Poland, Professor. I find both your voice and your manner of speaking soothing. Like a massage for my soul.
This is the first video of yours that I've watched, and I must say that I appreciate the fact that you don't expect your viewers to have infinite money like a lot of people making deck techs seem to. Thanks!
watching MTG vids with nostalgia... I´ve stopped with MTG around Mercadian Masque edition, veteran from the Alpha and Beta edition. Nice to see Slivers still going strong !
I would run the sliver that says "All slivers gain Whenever this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, counter it unless it's controller pays 2". It makes lightning bolt, mugging, or any other pesky targeted removal cost 2 more. It definitely buys time.
@@OrochiDoesMincraft Slivers is one of the first commander tribals I wanted to make after I got some from Modern Horizons but I didn't have enough to make it work even with changelings. :( but then Time Spiral Remastered came out and now I have too many slivers to choose from! :D I use the hivelord and, yeah, indestructible slivers are insane. What is that golgari deck? No exile based removal and not enough sacrificed based removal to make a difference? I had to put the deck aside as too powerful for most games (in a 1v1 pairing).
My cousin gave me a sliver deck to have when I started and absolutely loved it. This helps a lot. I also love the music for this video. Very ominous for slivers
I have to say Prof, as always, when i'm in doubt of my hive i come back to this video to see if i have strayed from the path. I have crushed many a deck with my Overlord. I am feared by many, hated by many more. The hive lives on. Love -One devoted fan of the Prof and of the sliver hive.
This video inspired me to build my first commander deck all those years ago, and while it's currently retired, I can't wait to sleeve it up again with the additions from Commander Masters :) Would love to see an update, especially after seeing the deck still exists in your triple sleeving guide!
I'm not gonna bother running Sliver Queen unless I can get one for cheap. I can use The First Sliver with some tech choices to make it more reliable than Queen anyway.
Love your take on the sliver deck. I got into commander a few years ago and the first deck I made was slivers. The biggest problem Ive found, which you did touch on, is that I am usually the target as soon as my friends see me put the overlord into my commander zone. in place of psionic sliver, I prefer to run screeching sliver as my non attacking win condition. Even though its not as practical, I love watching my friends faces as they mill all their strongest cards away
Thanks, for the video, Professor. My one suggestion would have been to add in Patriarch's Bidding. Since it's a Sliver tribal deck, your most likely going to profit the most from it, even against other tribal decks.
i dont you'll ever see this professer, but i started playing MTG around 10. My dad introduced me and brother to the wonderful world of MTG. The day I say my first sliver i've always wanted to play them. Today i orded all the cards for the deck aside for the lands as i already have them or better ones, but thank you for making this amazing list. I'm 19 now and this 9 years of MTG have been the best. I hope one day to play against you.
This deck certainly looks fun to play. I'm a huge fan of slivers. It also doesn't look to be unfair and shouldn't be TOO hated out in playgroups. But how COMPETITIVE do you think this deck is in your experience? I see a lot of insane combo decks running around that this deck might have trouble dealing with.
Well...i've been looking into Commander as the format i want to make my primary focus in Magic and i think you just sold the idea of running Slivers to me. They seem quirky (which is part of my own personal touch) and still mighty dangerous. Plus getting to be the guy everyone points their guns at first is rather thrilling~
l built my sliver deck back in the days of stronghold. It rocked back then. Now with the new slivers out I'm sure I could build one that's damn near unbeatable. Thanks for the run through, I may just head down to the card shop tomorrow.
Me watching this trying to build a sliver commander deck: “Wow! Look at all those good commanders! I want all of them in a deck! I mean sure the commanders cost around $50 each but that is not so bad!” *Googles sliver queen for sale* “Ahhhhhhhh!”
It's not so bad....years ago i got the Japanese Sliver Queen for $40 USD these days it is just about the same price as the English one while back then the English one was around $100 USD so yeah till people caught on about buying different languages being cheaper i was lucky. These days it is actually about half the price of the English one so still a good deal
I have been playing Magic for only a month or two. My wife got a Jace deck and I got Ajani. Just played my first prerelease yesterday too (4 wins out of 12 games) which was interesting. But a couple weeks in, I was watching youtube videos on how to build decks and I fell in love with the idea of a sliver deck. I bought it. And my wife refuses to play against it. I added Harmonic to counter artifacts that were played against me with success. I'm told however that if I started going to Friday Night Magic at the game store with it, it would likely not fare well due to there being a lot of counter stuff against it. I will probably try at least once. I also recently heard about the commander format and watched a video of you playing it. That looks like a very fun and entertaining format. I saw Slivers and Commander together in this video and now that's what I want to do. Thank you for your channel and your content. I have been watching a lot of your stuff as I learn to play this game and you have been extremely helpful. Especially when describing formats, gameplay, and synergies among cards and colors and guilds. I hope you keep it up and you can be sure I'll be watching.
I'd like to say thank you for this video. Because of this, I've been able to play EDH finally because I've always had trouble building 100 card decks. Thanks to your core list, I was able to create my first EDH that actually works and synergizes.
+Tolarian Community College because I'm a terrible human being and saw this, would you recommend throwing a ghostflame Sliver (all slivers are colorless) and an Ugin, the Spirit Dragon combo in the deck. it seems ridiculous, but if Ugin is in your hand you can tutor for the ghostflame and drop ugin to use his -7 and wipe most of the opponent's board with no repercussions, correct?
This deck looks like SO much fun! I'm trying for a mono-red goblin deck right now, but I love how this is almost the exact opposite side of the scale. Excellent deck tech. Thanks again, Prof!
I use Vivid lands in my Sliver EDH. I think they are better than tri-lands, because for 2 usages they function as 5 colored mana. Which most of the time is enough to push me to turn 5-6, where I have either a full mana spectrum or a Gemhide /Manaweft Sliver on board.
My friend runs Overlord and it's terrifying when the next turn is a lot of times a Crystalline and I have to pray to race or wait for a wrath. It's an awesome deck and I love the challenge. Thanks for posting the rationale-- sometimes it's hard to keep everything in mind when there's 99 cards you have to fit together!
The Vivid lands are another decent mana fix, for on the cheap. I usually find I'm in a more comfortable place mana wise by the time the 2nd counter is gone, if I even have to consider that at all.
I used to run all 5 Vivids in my sliver deck, but my mana base turned out to be good enough that the only things the vivids did above basics is enter tapped and sit there with counters on them.
Going back to watching this video after building my Sliver Commander deck and I have to say I fully agree with the Prof.'s choice for Overlord as a Commander. He is a must have in all Sliver decks. I'm still building it too.
I'd like to try a sliver deck one day, and I'm slowly collecting them via pucatrade. When I finally try it, I want to have the 10 Ravnica gates, + Maze's End. P.S. The big problem with Commander is that if your deck is too powerful, then nobody wants to play with you; I'd lay this sliver deck qualifies.
the Slivers was my 1st EDH deck; the only mass removal i use is "All is Dust" accompanied with "Ghostflame Sliver"; instead of the spot removals i have counters (unusual and cheap) typically used once i have my commander out (which is heavily targeted) - "Dispersal Shield," "Evasive Action, "Jaded Response," "Not of this World" (my favorite), and "Spell Rapture," and an overall evasion with "Teferi's Protection." "Boundless Realms" i would say is a must, can double your mana count. Besides the changeling, i have "Seedborn Muse" and with "Quick Sliver," BOOM! I rarely play this deck now because its a BEAST!

Just got back into magic and have had hours of fun playing this deck online. Thanks for a great and affordable deck. With such a huge card pool it's pretty daunting to get in to things.
"fury sliver" no no no "Bonescythe Sliver" is the correct one for double strike enable it cost 2 less than fury "Victual sliver" wrong again "Darkheart Sliver" is the correct one it may be one life less but its the same cmc and its free to sacrifice your slivers also diffusion sliver is fantasic defense thats cheap it gives all slivers spell pierce protection and if you have karraks thumb playing frenetic sliver might come in handy but not recommended and theres a budget alternative to shifting sliver and its just as good iand its 1 mana less ts called "shadow sliver" it gives slivers shadow and ghostflame sliver is considered a hidden gem that can get slivers past the color protection permanents most particually the swords oh even though its a old video its not as budget as it uset to be
I play this deck often (one of my favs) and I have to say quick sliver is one of my focal points when playing. The ability to tutor then cast a sliver in response to something is extremely useful. There have been times when flashing in a shroud sliver or flying sliver has blow out opponents. Of course the 8 mana nut counter of tutor then play indestructible in response to a wrath has happened but usually my opponents know about it not to run into it. Seeing as this video was made in 2014 another support enchantment I've added to the deck which has helped A LOT is cryptolith rite. Acts as a third mana sliver though not as good it is still extremely useful. As a 5c deck bring to light is absurdly good value to get 95% of the sliver in your deck and possibly an instant you need. I've tutored for indestructible sliver many times with it.
Question. Why did you pick Fury Sliver over Bonescythe Sliver? I would think the difference in power and toughness would be negligent given the number anthem slivers there are, and is more than made up for by being 2 cheaper to cast. Also...how about the Hellrider sliver? (Thorncaster, I believe?)
MirageDragonMyrgon Er...uh...because I was testing you. Yes! Yes! You passed. Congrats. My not including the better Bonescythe sliver was absolutely intentional. /quickly updates list
@@weareroger counter counter point: the only good looking one is Thicc Sliv-er i mean Diffusion Sliver. Why did they make it the only one to look female?
so, I have a sliver edh deck and I have a budget solution for dual lands. you can use the spell into the north from coldsnap along with the snow duals to fix your mana, Into the north also can fetch snow basic lands and scrying sheets and mouth of ronum. for basic card advantage and tool box effect for land-based creature removal. the whole snow package would be an easy include and give some variety. I also tend to prioritize green mana in order to make sure I can have access to manaweft or gemhide. I love your videos.
XToverdrive Tribal Myrs work great in commander, mine has been more then enough to stop most other decks. You can see my deck list at tapped out; my name on there is Penores.
XToverdrive check out my deck on tapped out. My account name is Penores. It should show you that making a commander deck based around Myrs is very possible and it works fantastic in practice.
Does Wild Pair actually work well with this deck? By the time you bring it out, you've probably pumped up your mass of slivers to the point where it won't be able to target much (since it checks Power/Toughness of the initial creature after it comes into play). P.S. We want a Sliver planeswalker. The hive demands it!
A little late of a reply, but it does very well with the right setup. You need a haste granting sliver, a sliver that lets you tap a sliver for mana and dormant sliver. It is best to start this without any power/toughness boosting slivers as it messes with things a bit. So you cast a sliver with all the previously mentioned slivers and wild pair on the field. You search for another sliver and put it into play. you draw 2 from the dormant, tap the two slivers for mana and repeat as long as you have the mana to play the next one you draw. It isn't infinite but it can sometimes seem that way.
Nanofuture87 One, I thought it would work well until one sliver messed that up: steelform sliver. That +0/+1 is all you need to make a mistake. Two, YES! Minds thinking alike. We need a Sliver Planeswalker...*cough*SliverDeity*cough*
This was super helpful! I really want to play Sliver cards now! It’s like a colored, cheaper, more efficient version of Eldrazi! I really liked this video! Keep up the awesome work Prof!
I would argue that all 4 of the legendary slivers have almost equal standing sliver queen can easily go infinite hivelord makes all slivers durable legion makes them all retardedly huge overlord can tutor for any of the formerly mentioned lords
This is awesome! I don't play MTG anymore but when I did I always wanted to build Slivers. If i ever get back into it, hopefully I can make something like this! Keep it up!
Hey Tol, where would I buy this stuff? It would cost me loads to get all cards shipped separately, because I live in Denmark. The shipping costs for one magic card only, and I four-star you not, is 3 dollars. That would be really expensive, Is there anyway I can order the entire thing.
I don't know of any one place to buy a completed set. I would look at getting one bulk purchase go to starcity games or another reputable MTG site that allows you to buy singles. Perhaps look at EU countries that have companies that sell mtg singles?
Try tcgplayer.com if you are going to by in bulk. They are truly a god sent when it comes to buying multiples since they have a special offer for magic the gather with certain partners that you can get off with no shipping costs. I just purchased this EDH deck with Queen and Legion plus a few others for a beautiful $230. with only $.10 of shipping costs!
cardmarket.com is strong in the EU, shipping prices are low, and you will find vendors who have several different slivers and useful cards so you can bundle. Or buy the sliver deck from the premium deck series, its an all-foil preconstructed deck with plenty of useful slivers.
Gotta love Necrotic Sliver. I have them in a 5 color sliver deck as well as my main Orzhov deck. Lots of good interweaving synergy w/ Deathbringer Liege, and Cauldron Haze.
Protagonist That's cause Slivers are evil and satanic and wrong... That's why I'm working on acquiring 58 Relentless Rats for my Commander Deck. Nothing like 58 57/57 Rats just a chillin.
I collected every sliver i could find back in the day so i had a huge pile of them. This was back in the Legions days though so nice to see more slivers have come along. Back then trying to play Slivers was a nightmare.. Mana was almost hopeless as there was so little things other then some elfs and expensive dual lands to speed it up. I recently got back into Magic and I'm trying to learn commander and maybe now it's time to find the slivers again as >I already have most of the cards here..
I run a powerful sliver EDH deck with Overlord as the commander. The deck is strong enough that I played a normal format game against an ally deck from the NEW Zendikar set made for tournaments and I won. Another great defensive sliver is the Frenetic Sliver. If someone pulls a Terminus on you, you have a chance to save some slivers and minimize the damage. No point in worrying about losing the coin flip because otherwise you lose all your slivers anyway.
Guys, im a Brazilian player and i crafted this deck, played several times and it's working wonders deckstats.net/decks/61977/455973-commander-sliver-overlord of course, the base idea came from this Tolarian Community College video, using their thoughts on this particular commander i went and changed some cards for more synergy and tempo gain, i would like to have your comments on it and last but not least i want to thank the Tolarian Community College for this great video on this awesome tribal that is Slivers.
I can't wait to be able to build this for EDH. I found a card shop that actually selling Overlord Sliver. I have Hivelord Sliver, so the most expensive cards are out of the way.
Another suggestion I have in my Sliver EDH are all ten gates in addition to maze's end. It let's you fetch up mazes when you need them, and is in itself a win condition if the need arises. Also, Amulet of Vigor can help budget builds with their land bases, and has a nice bonus of shutting down obnoxious cards like frozen aether or Urabrask, the hidden.
Sliver Queen with Intruder Alarm is pretty good. I made my 1st commander deck recently because of slivers. It was the 1st construction deck I played when my friend was teaching me the game. This video is going to improve my deck there is like 4 sliver I’m replacing
bobby bob as a Scion of the Ur-Dragon EDH player I know it isn't impossible, just a little bit annoying when you realized you forgot a decent ability for 2 seconds.
Something else to consider: Since you will want to run Heartstone, and if you can get a Sliver Queen, you can augment that into an infinite combo with Ashnod's Altar. Pay 1 mana to the Queen to create a Sliver. Sac the Sliver token to the Altar for 2 mana. And repeat until you feel sufficiently overwhelming. With a Heart Sliver in play, giving all of your Slivers Haste, and a Gemhide or Manaweft in play, you can also tap the tokens before sacrifice to also empty your hand. With Overlord in play, this gives you infinite mana of any color to tutor and play every Sliver in your deck. The combo is a little fragile since you need certain things in play, and it's obvious what your goal is once you start, but if your opponents can't stop you then the game is over.
Why do people not play Living Death? It's literally a trump card with slivers. If the game runs long and/or people have been loading your graveyard with your hard played slivers, Living Death will end the game in an instant.
WildMan There are things that prevent and/or counter literally everything in magic. That doesn't mean you shouldn't use that strategy just because *something* counters it. That's like saying you shouldn't play Tarmogoyf because it dies to removal.
It's not like saying that at all. You're looking at things through a narrow perspective, not the grand scheme. While living death is, indeed, a good card, it's not a staple and takes up a spot in the deck where there at least 3-4 other cards that do the same thing but better and faster.
WildMan There are exactly two cards in Magic that do what Living Death does, and the other is the star of a tier 1 deck in Modern that doesn't work as well in Commander. Slivers get tons of hate in Commander, and most of everything you toss out will be nuked from orbit ASAP. Living Death is basically a "you win" card if your slivers have haste.
Got my sliver overlord from secret lair and I'm finally ready to start building slivers. I only have half of the 6 WUBRG sliver commanders (if you count morophon as a sliver) but from just throwing all my rare lands and slivers I have lying around in my collection into a pile, I gotta say I see some potential with this deck.
Nice idea for a commander deck, i was watching this video to get an idea to build back up another sliver deck normal standard, this really helped me alot of the different types of slivers contributing in the mana factors, thank you
this video brings a tear to my eyes...my first commander deck was slivers and the first time i used it i killed my whole playgroup at once in a 4player game. with more tribal cards released with ixialan i need to update/improve my deck
Terrific Sliver deck! Thanks for sharing. I'm going to proxy it and slowly buy the cards if I like how it plays. Excited to use it against my EDH friends!
I know this isn't exactly the newest deck tech that you've posted., but I decided to run this as my first ever 100% legit no proxies EDH deck. I've played the budget version for a few months now and I'd like to give some feedback to those looking to maybe play slivers and this deck in particular. -First off, playing slivers makes you probably the most hated player at the table. You don't even have to do anything, just show up with the Overlord as your commander and chances are you have made an enemy. There have been games where I was hounded on the entire game when I didn't even have the most dangerous board state. -This deck is pretty slow to set up if you don't have the mana sliver on the field. I try and rush this one as fast as possible. -In my opinion, the deck lacked a more productive way of gaining life, so I swapped out Victual Sliver for the lifelink sliver. Lifelink sliver + sliver hivelord + psionic sliver = 5 life every time you tun a sliver sideways (do it end of opponent's turn). -Because of the speed of the deck, I spend most of my first few turns on the defensive. Try and look as harmless as possible while you slowly begin shutting down any options for them wiping your board. Some of the first few ones I make sure I take are my lifelik sliver, sliver hivelord, pulmonic sliver, and any of the slivers that can bounce your stuff in a tense moment. -The defender sliver is a good way to take focus off of you by making yourself look less threatening. The best way I have found to use him is to have a bounce sliver in hand with the flash sliver on the field. When you're ready to attack, bounce him instant speed. -I personally feel like this deck is very explosive. Don't make big moves until you plan to win the game. -If you go budget, be prepared for the manabase to not be optimal. That's where most of the upgraded cards will go. All in all, a very fun and synergistic deck. I think I might take out some of the spot removal spells in lieu of a few more tribal- focused cards, like Door of Destinies.
very fun take on the sliver deck. Affordable as well. One suggestion I would like to make, though: while it's not exactly a cheap card, if you are willing to spend the approximately $15 for a cavern of souls, I highly suggest shelling out an extra $7 for Prismatic Omen. The ability to have all your lands count as every basic land type as early as turn 2 can be a god send for mana fixing in any deck, but especially in one that requires running all 5 colors.
Thank you so much for this video. I always wanted to get into edh and this is exactly what I want to play. Also love the music in the vid. Keep up the great work tcc

I appreciate your mention of buying from local shops. It's surprisingly expensive to "keep the lights on" but we also understand that not everyone can spend $15+ a visit. That being said every little bit helps and while the internet has it's convenience at times, brick and mortar places are where the community is built. [these opinions are my own and in no way reflect the opinions of any employer past or present]
a few things: First, there should be no sliver deck without mana echoes (also infinite combo with queen) second, have you considered more spells that work with creature types? for example cards like descendants path, cryptic gateway, door of destiny and urza's incubator can be very helpful. third, harmonic sliver is bad for you if your opponents run out of enchantments or artifacts (it forces you to destroy all of your own artifacts and enchantments)(when you are quickly playing slivers they will) four, creeping renaissance can be better than aphetto dredging, it costs one more mana but it can bring back all instances of any type of permenant (all creatures, not just 3) and it has flashback this is my decklist: Creature (42) 1x Amoeboid Changeling 1x Brood Sliver 1x Clot Sliver 1x Constricting Sliver 1x Crypt Sliver 1x Crystalline Sliver 1x Galerider Sliver 1x Gemhide Sliver 1x Heart Sliver 1x Hibernation Sliver 1x Homing Sliver 1x Horned Sliver 1x Hunter Sliver 1x Magma Sliver 1x Manaweft Sliver 1x Megantic Sliver 1x Mesmeric Sliver 1x Muscle Sliver 1x Necrotic Sliver 1x Predatory Sliver 1x Pulmonic Sliver 1x Quick Sliver 1x Root Sliver 1x Sedge Sliver 1x Sentinel Sliver 1x Shifting Sliver 1x Sinew Sliver 1x Sliver Hivelord 1x Sliver Legion 1x Sliver Queen 1x Spinneret Sliver 1x Striking Sliver 1x Synapse Sliver 1x Syphon Sliver 1x Talon Sliver 1x Telekinetic Sliver 1x Toxin Sliver 1x Two-Headed Sliver 1x Venom Sliver 1x Virulent Sliver 1x Ward Sliver 1x Winged Sliver Land (40) 1x Bloodstained Mire 1x Breeding Pool 1x Canopy Vista 1x Cavern of Souls 1x Cinder Glade 1x Command Tower 1x Crystal Quarry 1x Flooded Strand 3x Forest 1x Godless Shrine 2x Island 1x Mana Confluence 2x Mountain 1x Overgrown Tomb 2x Plains 1x Polluted Delta 1x Prairie Stream 1x Reflecting Pool 1x Rupture Spire 1x Sacred Foundry 1x Sliver Hive 1x Smoldering Marsh 1x Steam Vents 1x Sunken Hollow 2x Swamp 1x Transguild Promenade 1x Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth 1x Vivid Crag 1x Vivid Creek 1x Vivid Grove 1x Vivid Marsh 1x Vivid Meadow 1x Windswept Heath 1x Wooded Foothills Commander sliver overlord Enchantment (6) 1x Burgeoning 1x Descendants' Path 1x Mana Echoes 1x Prismatic Omen 1x Steely Resolve 1x Wild Pair Artifact (6) 1x Amulet of Vigor 1x Coat of Arms 1x Cryptic Gateway 1x Door of Destinies 1x Sol Ring 1x Urza's Incubator Sorcery (3) 1x Creeping Renaissance 1x Distant Melody 1x Wargate Instant (1) 1x Luminescent Rain Sideboard (4) 1x Basal Sliver 1x Diffusion Sliver 1x Harmonic Sliver 1x Spined Sliver
Add a paradox engine you can easily get everything out. (Tap slivers for mana to search then cast card. Untap all creatures and do it again with one more mana). Also aggressive assault and mana echos. Mana echos is a must with queen because it’ll keep your colorless mana high and you can dump into queen until your ready.
Well now, time to do some searching. I have the bulk of the Slivers listed here, just a few needed but for me it's always been the lands that were troubling. Thanks so much for these cheaper alternatives which I'm still going to have a rough time finding.

There are two types of players: Those who use Armageddon and those who don't. haha
Milton Woo got hit with one last night while running this very deck. before I had the ramp slivers =/
And there's also those who don't play white.
Why play Armageddon when you can play Jokulhaups!?
My favorite memory of using Armageddon was when my opponent exiled my avacyn angel of hope then wipe my board so in return. I wiped out all his mana
My cousin gave me a sliver deck to have when I started and absolutely loved it. This helps a lot. I also love the music for this video. Very ominous for slivers
I hope the professor does a upgrade video on the new sliver pre con would love to see that. after ordering it I ran over to rewatch this video
I have to say Prof, as always, when i'm in doubt of my hive i come back to this video to see if i have strayed from the path. I have crushed many a deck with my Overlord. I am feared by many, hated by many more. The hive lives on.
Love
-One devoted fan of the Prof and of the sliver hive.
This video inspired me to build my first commander deck all those years ago, and while it's currently retired, I can't wait to sleeve it up again with the additions from Commander Masters :)
Would love to see an update, especially after seeing the deck still exists in your triple sleeving guide!
And now, include "The First Sliver". Hope you got your Sliver Queen already :)
I'm not gonna bother running Sliver Queen unless I can get one for cheap. I can use The First Sliver with some tech choices to make it more reliable than Queen anyway.
@@Thoughtmage100 you can get an altered art of Sliver Queen for 6 dollars if you plan on only playing casually
@@Thoughtmage100 my local FLGS got a hold of Overlord, hive lord, and the first sliver and wanted 20 for each. Best 60 bucks I spent in my entire life
Love your take on the sliver deck.
I'd love it if you duel with Josh and Jimmy from Commandzone again bring a sliver deck
Enthusiastically seconded! Granded, he'll be a clear target from the get-go, but it'd be worth it.
I'd watch that
Finally, an actual guide! My first sliver deck wasn't bad, but now I know how to actually use and fix my sliver commander deck. Thanks professor!
I freaking love Slivers, so much! This made me really happy to see.

It’s fun till you face another sliver deck and it’s a race to the first one to drop their overlord and kill the others 😂

l built my sliver deck back in the days of stronghold.
And only because of Modern Horizons 1. You could buy them both for roughly 40 each used for the last 7 years before that came out.
You could try making morophon the boundless your commander. Change his type to sliver and suddenly every legendary sliver’s mana cost is 0.
One of the fun things that my buddy runs in his sliver commander is an intruder alarm so that he could go off infinite
I'd like to say thank you for this video. Because of this, I've been able to play EDH finally because I've always had trouble building 100 card decks. Thanks to your core list, I was able to create my first EDH that actually works and synergizes.
+Tolarian Community College
because I'm a terrible human being and saw this, would you recommend throwing a ghostflame Sliver (all slivers are colorless) and an Ugin, the Spirit Dragon combo in the deck.
it seems ridiculous, but if Ugin is in your hand you can tutor for the ghostflame and drop ugin to use his -7 and wipe most of the opponent's board with no repercussions, correct?
Isn't it
Genius
There will be one issue, The second you pull out Sliver Overlord ever again it'll always be Archenemy. But it probably was anyway so... genius.
This deck looks like SO much fun! I'm trying for a mono-red goblin deck right now, but I love how this is almost the exact opposite side of the scale. Excellent deck tech. Thanks again, Prof!
Coming back in preparation for The First Sliver you immediately notice how far TCC has come in quality!
Thank you! Finally someone else with the vivids!
I also like how the Vivid lands enable Reflecting Pool, which should also go in the deck. I'm glad Conspiracy reduced the price on it.
Good catch.
MrMaster90 I never thought of that combo, thanks!
Love the lair lands
Yeah, I had to set mine aside as too strong for most games :P
the Slivers was my 1st EDH deck; the only mass removal i use is "All is Dust" accompanied with "Ghostflame Sliver"; instead of the spot removals i have counters (unusual and cheap) typically used once i have my commander out (which is heavily targeted) - "Dispersal Shield," "Evasive Action, "Jaded Response," "Not of this World" (my favorite), and "Spell Rapture," and an overall evasion with "Teferi's Protection." "Boundless Realms" i would say is a must, can double your mana count. Besides the changeling, i have "Seedborn Muse" and with "Quick Sliver," BOOM! I rarely play this deck now because its a BEAST!
Great video Tolarian!
Daneel Rakow Thanks!
Hey tolarian I love your videos and please tell me how you got the idea for the name "tolarian"

Just got back into magic and have had hours of fun playing this deck online. Thanks for a great and affordable deck. With such a huge card pool it's pretty daunting to get in to things.
"fury sliver"
no no no
"Bonescythe Sliver" is the correct one for double strike enable it cost 2 less than fury
"Victual sliver"
wrong again
"Darkheart Sliver" is the correct one it may be one life less but its the same cmc and its free to sacrifice your slivers
also diffusion sliver is fantasic defense thats cheap it gives all slivers spell pierce protection
and if you have karraks thumb playing frenetic sliver might come in handy but not recommended
and theres a budget alternative to shifting sliver and its just as good iand its 1 mana less ts called "shadow sliver" it gives slivers shadow
and ghostflame sliver is considered a hidden gem that can get slivers past the color protection permanents most particually the swords
oh even though its a old video its not as budget as it uset to be
I play this deck often (one of my favs) and I have to say quick sliver is one of my focal points when playing.
Tolarian Community College haha Fair enough. Glad I passed! ;)
Counterpoint: fury sliver actually looks like a damn sliver and not supersword arm tentacle dreadsman.
Roger Mexico agreed. I would choose any of sliver over new. Looks alone is enough for me.
@@weareroger counter counter point: the only good looking one is Thicc Sliv-er i mean Diffusion Sliver.
Why did they make it the only one to look female?
The music is so sinister...really loved this video. It was very informative on where to start with a sliver edh.
I made my girlfriend a sliver deck for her birthday.... Instant regret D:
My friend taught me how to play magic. He then proceeded to gift me his sliver deck. Without slivers magic would not be the same for me.
so, I have a sliver edh deck and I have a budget solution for dual lands. you can use the spell into the north from coldsnap along with the snow duals to fix your mana, Into the north also can fetch snow basic lands and scrying sheets and mouth of ronum. for basic card advantage and tool box effect for land-based creature removal. the whole snow package would be an easy include and give some variety. I also tend to prioritize green mana in order to make sure I can have access to manaweft or gemhide. I love your videos.
Can you do one for Myrs? I've been making one and I want to improve it
XToverdrive Tribal Myrs work great in commander, mine has been more then enough to stop most other decks. You can see my deck list at tapped out; my name on there is Penores.
XToverdrive check out my deck on tapped out. My account name is Penores. It should show you that making a commander deck based around Myrs is very possible and it works fantastic in practice.
I just assembled this deck! Very stoked to go and play edh tonight! Thanks Professor!
Would you consider sedge sliver a decent addition since is has power boost and regen?
Please, please Professor, give the people what they want! A new Sliver deck video after the Modern Horizon slivers!
+Nanofuture87 nicole bolas is great in a sliver deck
Karn Liberated. On flavour, and it's KARN LIBERATED!!

+johnnyscifi The Queen is worth quite a lot of money at the moment too.

I've been thinking about making a sliver deck and this is just what I need to get started, thank you !

I missed it, and regret missing it - thank you for the enlightenment!
Gotta love Necrotic Sliver. I have them in a 5 color sliver deck as well as my main Orzhov deck. Lots of good interweaving synergy w/ Deathbringer Liege, and Cauldron Haze.
I feel like the music in this video was slightly to sinister.
Protagonist That's cause Slivers are evil and satanic and wrong... That's why I'm working on acquiring 58 Relentless Rats for my Commander Deck. Nothing like 58 57/57 Rats just a chillin.
Andrew Thomson just wait till someone cast counterbore
Protagonist it's for slivers...did you expect anything else? Haha
you mean "too" sinister not "to".
Why would anyone play Slivers? They suc... ALL HAIL THE SLIVER OVERLORD!
I must have some sort of dyslexia or what, I swear that until I heard Professor said 'Sliver' I read 'Silver' on cards before, even in the video title
Sliver Queen with Intruder Alarm is pretty good. I made my 1st commander deck recently because of slivers. It was the 1st construction deck I played when my friend was teaching me the game. This video is going to improve my deck there is like 4 sliver I’m replacing
must be a pain in the ass to remember every single sliver ability on every single sliver
Ike
bobby bob unlike most players, I can remember each ability for each sliver off the bat.
bobby bob as a Scion of the Ur-Dragon EDH player I know it isn't impossible, just a little bit annoying when you realized you forgot a decent ability for 2 seconds.
New lands in Khans :D
player2aj I know! So excited!
I love that music. It suits slivers so well and I would love for WOTC to make a block based on Shandalar.
Why do people not play Living Death? It's literally a trump card with slivers. If the game runs long and/or people have been loading your graveyard with your hard played slivers, Living Death will end the game in an instant.
because of things that prevent graveyard return, exile graveyards and other things.
and there's a sliver in there that puts them on top of the library instead of grave
I have start to make sliver edh and this video is good advices to what cards put in deck. Thanks prof making this kind a videos.
Bravo.☺ I was aware of the slivers but was never really interested. This Video was both compelling and informative!! Well done!!!
watching this video taught me how to play 5 color allies in edh, so thank you prof.
Your examinations always fascinate me.
Love the transition at 2:22.
I remember playing Slivers back in the late 90s :D
Really digging the commander focused videos you're making! Really hope you make more videos like this in the future! Keep up the good work Tolarian :)
Just wanna say I love you videos. I started watching a little more then 2 weeks ago. Keep up the fantastic work!
very fun take on the sliver deck. Affordable as well.
One suggestion I would like to make, though: while it's not exactly a cheap card, if you are willing to spend the approximately $15 for a cavern of souls, I highly suggest shelling out an extra $7 for Prismatic Omen. The ability to have all your lands count as every basic land type as early as turn 2 can be a god send for mana fixing in any deck, but especially in one that requires running all 5 colors.
mrjanemba That's a great suggestion for the deck, and I think you easily swap out anything from the "Optional" tier for that.
probably my favorite edh deck of all time. Currently in the process of foiling the deck out (around 60/99 cards in foil no queen foil :( atm.)
Thank you so much for this video. I always wanted to get into edh and this is exactly what I want to play. Also love the music in the vid. Keep up the great work tcc
I've just made an awesome sliver deck(not commander I must say),but it is really amazingly fun to play and pretty pretty strong.I love slivers and their mysterious lore and evolution in Magic. This video deserves so many more views and thanks for your dedication and time that you've invested in order to made this.Make one video for Non-commander sliver dekcs please :).
Getting back into Magic from playing slivers over a decade ago. Would love a new updated version of this video for commander! Possibly even 60 card.
a few things:
First, there should be no sliver deck without mana echoes (also infinite combo with queen)
second, have you considered more spells that work with creature types? for example cards like descendants path, cryptic gateway, door of destiny and urza's incubator can be very helpful.
third, harmonic sliver is bad for you if your opponents run out of enchantments or artifacts (it forces you to destroy all of your own artifacts and enchantments)(when you are quickly playing slivers they will)
four, creeping renaissance can be better than aphetto dredging, it costs one more mana but it can bring back all instances of any type of permenant (all creatures, not just 3) and it has flashback

Add a paradox engine you can easily get everything out. (Tap slivers for mana to search then cast card. Untap all creatures and do it again with one more mana). Also aggressive assault and mana echos. Mana echos is a must with queen because it’ll keep your colorless mana high and you can dump into queen until your ready.
great video! Love the idea, slivers were made for commander! Beautiful box as well!
Great Video! I can't wait to try out this type of deck!
Well now, time to do some searching. I have the bulk of the Slivers listed here, just a few needed but for me it's always been the lands that were troubling. Thanks so much for these cheaper alternatives which I'm still going to have a rough time finding.
