    I have a small ranch 1950 house. It’s septic, but I think the gray water is not hooked up to septic. How do I know if it’s been vented correctly? I think the double sink was put in later. The pvc pipe goes down into the crawl space.
    I removed a garbage disposal - rarely used. Constant plugging problems.
    Also, I just installed two new strainers. One leaks. It’s a Kraus; foam gasket on top on ceramic sink, rubber gasket underneath sink. The left one seems ok. I removed the foam gasket and tried plumbers putty. That didn’t work.

    Thanks Chris, I am wondering if those pipes come with kit are too small for kitchen plumbing? Cuz the PVC has bigger inner diameter.

    My new double sink does not align on one side of the old drain; also the wall pipe is 3" left of the left drain so the old hookup had the P trap filling the gap. Think I have to replace the whole assembly, pvc, mostly glued. Sound right?

    I had problems with the pipe slipping out of the seal rings. First slip the pipe into place to see where the ring should be, then use superglue inside the ring and slip into place. The glue drys in 15 seconds so you have to be quick. Let it dry and then tighten the connection. I wrapped the threads with teflon and my connections stay connected.

      pvc primer is the purple stuff.. you don’t use anything on the threads they are compression fittings

    Now, I love this video, my problem is that I have a double sink that doesn't have the drain going directly down into the basement. The pipe goes off to the left & goes through another cabinet & then into a pipe that's on the wall of the other cabinet! How my home inspector didn't catch this is a mystery to me.

      Plummer's putty is always used on the bottom of the top drain fitting. Sinks fittings and bath tub drains. It's a second defense for controlling that you have no leaks.

    Chris, thank you for a well-thought out video.
    Question: The T fitting you installed - it would have been so nice if you had let the camera look straight through the T fitting, to see whether it has a clear, unobstructed passage in all directions, or if there is some sort of deflection baffle.
    I'm baffled by the baffle in a T fitting I want to replace.
    The baffle is a violation of a fundamental rule of plumbing; drain lines should only get bigger as they go downstream, never smaller.
    The baffle is excellent for creating clogs. I'm having trouble finding a Tee fitting that doesn't have a baffle. Does one exist?
    Thanks!

    • @chriscraft2
      @chriscraft2  2 года назад +2

      they all have a baffle if not it would fill the other side up when draining a full sink.. just cut it out if it bothers you...

    Sorry but this would fail in NJ, NY, Conn, and I believe PA. Not to get too deep but basically if you put a snake down one sink it would go right up the other. Yes I would clean the trap out 1st. One sink should have a sweep 90 and under it a dwv tee.

    • @chriscraft2
      @chriscraft2  Год назад +3

    That's pretty nice... I still prefer the look and durability of SCH 40. Once that stuff is welded, light rough-housing with dish soap bottles and such, it won't leak. I have had bad luck with those poly systems, they are kinda feeble, great for setup but lame on the toughness scale. After you see a properly assembled SCH 40 apparatus you'll scoff at that other stuff and the price delta is insignificant. I mean really, show some backbone and figure it out.

    • @chriscraft2
      @chriscraft2  Год назад +2

      no one plumbs this in sch 40 .. that would be retarded, literally.. it easily comes apart for blockages and maintenance.. stop making up stuff
