yea... 3:36 to 3:47 was fantastic but you're right, the whole thing is fabulous, and dvorak and rostropovitch where genius of music. What can we say ? Thank you for all the the things you left yo our (shitty) world ? no... such a small word. With your music, you just keep us alive, and that's a lot... Classical music is the power fullest music an human ever done.. i don't know what to say, I'm just glad i can listen to them... and the others...
there are in total four versions of dvorak cello concert interpreted by rostropovich,all good and interstng, i think people who have keen interests in either this cello concert or rostropovich would prabaly find something really interesng by listening to all four versions. thank you for this video!!!
That's my favorite part too! Indeed, I suspect it is this passage, perhaps more than any other, that is responsible for this piece so often being called the greatest cello concerto ever written.
Ah...yes :) This is one of the finest movements he wrote. My favorite, of course, is still the Largo from his 9th Symphony. Arguably one of the greatest pieces ever written by any composer. So powerful and emotive.
kuhataparunks+ The little exchange starting at ~1:20 is my favorite as well. An intimate conversation between lovers perhaps? The same question asked 3 times, and each time answered with increasingly forceful sincerity.
tromal217, So agree, and I can count on the fingers of one hand only a few cellists who had the intense inner vision and ability to compare to Rostropovich's performance...du Pre, Mas...
@Smitty427NJ - Okay, I definitely have no "extensive musical background," but that theme is very familiar to me, too. It sounds like Marche Funebre by Chopin to me.
@polymath7 LOL! No way someone who picks up the nick "polymath" can be humble... But I like the way you seem to know yourself. IMHO, your humble opinion is correct.
Oh, God! This goes right into my heart. If there was a God he would save the world - just because of this wonderful music.
Thank you, Lord, for Rostropovich, Dvorak, and music. Beautiful.
Arguably, the most gorgeous part for the horn section in the orchestral repertoire and it is in a cello concerto!
beautiful movement....fantastic orchestration......absolutely takes my breath away, it's so beautiful
Being that the Cello is one of the instraments I play, I love Cello pieces that bring out the sound as wonderful as this.
@BillBC I heard him live in Philly with my dad....will never forget...

So Beautiful, such powerful, yet sensitive playing.
Restropovich's just brilliant, unfortunetly I don't have the chance to hear this live.
Rostropovich was amazing on the cello.
it's very melancholic, I love this part!!
I find this concerto excellent!
Absolutely heavenly!
and his piano concerto too..not very well known, but a true masterpiece:)
So Beautiful.

thank you, really, for uploading
breathtaking...
It says everything that needs to be said.
I am so happy to share this music with you all!
From 3:36 to 3:47
Probably one the most beautiful cello part ever written...
kuhataparunks+ The little exchange starting at ~1:20 is my favorite as well. An intimate conversation between lovers perhaps? The same question asked 3 times, and each time answered with increasingly forceful sincerity.

@frazobe My thoughts exactly, even at the first phrase of his playing. His musicianship -- simply astounding.
tromal217,
So agree, and I can count on the fingers of one hand only a few cellists who had the intense inner vision and ability to compare to Rostropovich's performance...du Pre, Mas...
you are so right!!
@colourfulwithaU Who thumb down not love the music, this music
@eeddddddyy
I believe the expression says that if a specific thing is really good, then its "thumbs up"!
Grazie Rostropovch
@tromal217 Probably the greatest and most beautiful moment in music ever written :)

don't forget his symphonic poems!
@anjordan77 simply the best
(chuckle)
I have to bite my cheek at the thought that I might ever be sincerely humble. I only meant that I'm a musical layman. ;-)
@Smitty427NJ - Okay, I definitely have no "extensive musical background," but that theme is very familiar to me, too. It sounds like Marche Funebre by Chopin to me.
@beethomozart I think my favorite Dvorak is his 7th Symphony...or at least, one of my favorites:)
why arent we focused on Rotropovich at 5:00?!?!
@Rephrat : The Great Rostropovich Playing the Dvorak Cello Concerto with Carlo Maria Giulini and the London Philharmonic Orchestra
Very beautiful contribution - thx all
I like Dvorak and this performance very much ! But ... one thing : What happened in 6:17 ? :D :S
You're talking about the symphonies, yes?
In my humble opinion the seventh is undoubtedly Dvorak's best.
i wish they would show him from 5:10-5:18
Love 3:35 to 4:23
@polymath7 LOL! No way someone who picks up the nick "polymath" can be humble... But I like the way you seem to know yourself.
IMHO, your humble opinion is correct.
@TheSideflip - how do you know that?
omg 3:20 is gorgeous
which orchestra?
philarmonia orchestra London, Carlo maria Giulini
@colourfulwithaU I think eeddddddyy is expressing extreme astonishment at the eight people who voted against this video with a thumbs down.
@tromal217 I would say 3:36 to 3:56
@tromal217 nope
@eeddddddyy
Why? Be specific.
The trombone really fucked it up at 6:19...
Aaah.. Feinmann played drums.. Bongo-drums if I remember correctly? Hehehehe..
3,14159265358979323846-... 99999...
lol it's 'undoubtedly' his best, yet you say it's a humble opinion.
deliberate pun?
I feel gay
8 Thumb down.. FUCKKK!!
Fart @ 4:34
