Every time I listen to this uptaking it is with a feeling of homecoming. This music for me has the quality I never seem to get tired of it. Every time is like a new time to enjoy this wonderful music, and Marie-Elisabeths wonderful playing. So thank you DW Classical Music for publishing this gem!
This has been such a wonderful surprise. First the orchestra, simply beautiful, gorgeous playing. Wonderful conducting. Them the soloist beautiful. She plays this piece with an understanding of every note every phrase. Bravo to everyone involved including the techs

A superb concert, with an exquisite performance by all these talented musicians - and the visual quality from 2009 is fabulous. Marie-Elisabeth Hecker is simply astonishing, and I recall this particular work performed in concert by the late Jacqueline du Pre - golly, all those years ago - and when I was young !!! Thank you DW for this fine upload - greatly appreciated :)

I had almost forgotten how beautiful this consert is, thanks for reminding me! And Marie-Elisabeth Heckers playing is exquisite, there is almost a touch of Jaqueline du Pré over it. Foregive me for saying so! This playing stands for itself, without comparison. This uptaking from 2009 can easily be heard also 2024!
@@staffanolofsson8201 das finde ich nicht. Der Klang von Jaqueline 's Cello kommt wunderbar heraus bei den alten Aufnahmen. Besonders beim Elgar Konzert mit Barbirolli. Für mich gibt es nichts schöneres.

Marie-Elisabeth Hecker is a superb cellist! I saw her in the Sendesaal Bremen a few years ago with the best Brahms e-minor I've ever heard!!!!!

A part of the difference to Jaqueline du Pré is that nowadays uptakings are so much better. I am grateful for this uptaking with so much better sound.
