    The theros mess kit is something you should have a factory reproduce for you too sell,its pretty awesome! I bet for the self-reliance outfitters im sure they would be interested in that kit with their alcohol stove. I love it, or you could even make alcohol stoves that would fit inside! Super cool!

    I really like my serbian army mess kit.
    I have a bunch but this one hasnt been topped yet.I wish they made it in all stainless.
    I've considered the swiss kit with the trianga stove as well.
    These stoves are only going up in price so now is the time to get them.

      Is it the type with enameled pan that the plastic canteen fits inside and two other plastic cups fit on top? If so, the idea is similar to the historic early 1900's Preston mess kit which is on my list to find some day. I can certainly see the benefits.

    I have a Coleman kit in stainless steel (from about 1990). It doesn't have the fire/fuel module or windscreen, but it nests three cups and one pan, and I pack a little pop can alcohol stove in it, so it's somewhat similar. It had never occurred to me to bake with it or use it as a space heater, but now I want to try.

      Just make sure there is plenty of open air flow due to carbon monoxide brother. Old canvas tents without bottoms, zippers, and air tight materials are safer in this situation. You definitely want a draft in this case

      I used my Czech mess kit as a Dutch oven to bake a french bread of the 2 cups of flour size. Also used it to mix, knead(with my fist)and rise the dough. For baking, I put the dough in the lid and inverted the pot as the top. Baked the usual manner in the coals.

    👍 Very interesting video. I agree an excellent cook kit. Would still be a good idea today if someone reproduced in stainless steel, titanium, or even anodized aluminum as non-anodized aluminum creates some health concerns.

    • @honorableoutfitters

    You could also use that bottle marine and said over some coals on the ground they don't have to be in the bucket. Much like a canteen burner. You could even lay a couple pieces of wire acrost to hold a smaller pan. It would have to be something like heavy duty wire. Unless you made a cross section potholder but, that's just an idea too. Truth is we already have stuff for that be a waste of something so historic

      In an enclosed tent, absolutely and you would only want to use embers. If your tent is like a wheelen tent or a shelter half(not enclosed) it is like sleeping next to a fire.

    • @honorableoutfitters
      @honorableoutfitters  2 года назад +1

      A complete one would likely fetch $75-$100 when the market is good. Inflation/recession has everyone holding onto their money so the value of collectibles in general are sinking currently because the buyer just can't afford spending extra money so hard to say at this moment. A well laid out auction generally determines a good honest value.
