The worst in NFL history, unquestionably. Wasted a period of time where the Browns had potential HoF talent on both sides of the ball, and mortgaged their future for the next half decade because they guaranteed absurd money to a sexual predator without a Super Bowl ring.

Watson hasn't had a good QB season since 2020. He's started just 19 games since then and hasn't played well.
There's a strong chance he's done as an NFL starting QB.

I may be wrong, but if he is on IR for the whole season, only half his salary hits the cap. This may be the best case scenario for the browns for cap space.

    • @wishlish

Unfortunately, because his contract is fully guaranteed, his full contract will count against the cap. The only way the Browns will get salary cap relief is if something happens that would cause the commissioner to suspend him.

Pretty sure that neither QB is a good fit for Stefanski. With his job on the line, I don't choose one of those in a prove it year. Build around the QB position, get a serviceable QB vet that does play in Stefanski's style, and go with a better QB option in next year's draft. We've seen enough of Watson and trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.
