Spyderco Caribbean Rust Free Pocket Knife Review. OMG A PARA MILITARY 2 KILLA?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 26 июн 2018
- The brand new for 2018 Spyderco Caribbean Knife is part of the Salt line of rust free knives using LC200N corrosion proof steel. It has a compression lock like the Para Military 2, but with a larger blade and handle. Is it the Para Military killer we’ve all been waiting for? The milled G10 handle has raised and recessed texture to help it stay in your hand in wet or slimy conditions. In this video I compare it to some ofter Spydercos and Benchmades- like the Paramilitary 2, the Benchmade Fact, and the Endura 4. This might be one of Spydercos coolest offerings this year- and one of my favorites. If you’d like to support this channel buy the Caribbean from a link below:

Edit: Update on makeup of liners and screws from Spyderco: "The liner in this model is made from LC200N, the screws are stainless and as you noted the clip is titanium. "
The liners are also lc200n but I don't know about the screws.
Says stainless on a lot of the internet product descriptions. Can you confirm where you got this info?
Advanced Knife Bro I heard it in a interview with Eric but I can't confirm because it was live on Instagram.
I’d like that to be true... I’ll keep an eye out and add a correction to the description if that’s true. Maybe I’ll email them.
Advanced Knife Bro its all lc200n. Ask Lance Clinton, his collaboration with spyderco "waterway" comes out in august
While I’d trust them- spyderco should at least start by updating the wrong description on their own product page.

This is obviously the best knife channel. Thank you for not having an annoying voice. Cough cough.
I did a workout in the Caribbean... it's was pilates of the Caribbean...
Hey yo!
I can't quite imagine a pilates instructor who sounds like Keith Richards.
Brilliant :)
Possibly the best review I've ever watched. Well done my good man, well done!
Glad you liked it!
I prefer the non-filled holes , it's where I store my extra fish gut snacks for later. Plus, when you drop it overboard it acts as chum.
I enjoyed this review, I give it seven Metatrons
Ok I had to look this up.
forced obscure biblical figure bro
Having gone almost Cecil B. DeMille with your own productions, Pete, you've now gone all the way past Biblical on us! Ha, ha, ha, I didn't know this one. Interesting -- thanks for the reference.
I guess you're a physics nerd, too, eh [hinted somewhere]? But you never get into that over at Cedric & Ada Gear, do you, dude? --> Hooked on theoretical physics & cosmology since 1973, FYI & FWIW...
“Sassy” and “fidget-able...” this is why I will always watch, sir.
The two most important qualities in a knife!
I truly enjoy your reviews good job I think I’ll pick one of these up
Awesome man, thanks for watching!
Nice Billy Ocean (O'Shane) reference, lol! I've always been intrigued about this one, haven't seen as much on it as deserved. Thanks for reviewing it. Always great detail and funny.
I like it a lot. A lot of little considerations were taken to make this knife interesting and well thought out. The flush interior, the light weight- all excellent considerations when making a good every day carry.
Good videos AKB, I like the attitude, so keep'em coming please.
I subscribed. Your narrative was awesome. I hope your other vids are just as funny and frosty. 👍🏻
Thank you!
"Sal's gotta eat!"
Great video, you had me laughing and lockdown had me down. You made my day. Might even get this knife.
Nice review. Love the comedy and sense of humor!!😜
Love your reviews. Keep it up.
Thanks man!
Gotta baton those apples
Jus wait
Just ordered one based on your review, living in Florida its a must for beach and boating! Like everything else around salt water you must rinse in freshwater after use, cause everything rusts eventually!
love ur review style. and hilarious and true about guys buyin up the sprint runs/exclusives and flippin them for more. like that new. rivers edge cutlery para3...
Nice Blade Excellent review keep it up.
I love my PM2, but getting this one for sure now!
Good choice!
@@AdvancedKnifeBro I finally pulled the proverbial trigger on this one & it has replaced my PM2 as my left pocket EDC. Oh yeah, I have a new YT Acct too!
Most recent Spydercos have ben very similar - this stands out and looks great! me likey! nice review as usual
Thanks’
Just got this knife for my son for deep sea fishing off san diego. Told him only thing I want in return is more fresh Dorado and Blue fin. Thanks for review
Great knife for that! Thanks man!
By far my favorite knife review of any reviewer. I actually laughed 4 times during your video. And thank god for cussing. I’m so tired of videos without cussing. In my terribly done video of this knife I shove in a few choice words. We are all “adults” here.
Looks like a great knife for Summer Vacation. A "Don't worry, be happy" knife. A knife that doesn't take itself too seriously, until you insult its stainlessness.
Make sure you don’t do that!
Amazing knifes reviews video! ^^
Thanks!
You’re a funny dude - love your knife collection
love your video style
The whole time I kept thinking... "Huh... Looks like Spyderco finally made a Ganzo knockoff..."
You and Pork Chili!
Advanced Knife Bro You know what they say... "Porki Chilli has observational super powers." ... Okay... no one ever said that, but I still totally agree.
"looks real sassy" I'm sold!!!!
For real though, it looks to me like a Spyderco Resilience with upgraded steel and lock. Which is great. I love the simple handle.
Me too!
Illuminating review Mr Lucifer.
Awesome review👊
I am watching Your videos at work so I don't waste my time.
Sometimes I work on my channel, while at my real job- so I don't waste time. I understand this.
Oh yes! New review and flip-flops!
By request!
Glad to hear your was stiff too. Was actually thinking something's wrong with this one and I should return it. But I guess I'll keep working it out and slicing myself up everytime it lands on me
Sounds like you have it figured out!
I also like pointy tips to open packages of other knives I’ve purchased.
That’s what they’re for nowadays
I Read that the liners are the same steel as the blade. Smart idea! Nd i really love the g10 inlays in the cut outs. Helps with dust n pocket crap.
The websites product description says just “stainless”. I just emailed Sal for a response.
Wait till you get to be 73. I just bought a wait what's the name of it oh yeah a Caribbean. Very nice very well made.
Hilarious dry review. Subscribed
Im buying the sheepsfoot version of this. Still on back order 🙄 thanks for sharing 👌🏻
I actually finally got one! But went with the leaf shaped plain version. I LOVE it. 👌🏻
AdvancedCuttingboardBro. My wife loves the handle. Bless, Bro.
I love sheepsfoot, along with the rest of the sheep.
Pickled?
My pm2’s are great but i always choose the Caribbean lately. Guess i have some sales to do. “Sal gotta eat”😂. You crack me up
I love my Caribbean sheepfoot.
Live in Florida pretty sure there's an ocean somewhere close. Welp good enough reason to buy it for me
Just got a Shaman and it’s currently my favorite. Would love it more if it was closer to 4oz. Like this one but not the stripes.
You're a genius aren't you. Seriously I'm convinced you are
I'm just another asshole taking up a space on google's servers.
I've spent years of my life waiting for a Knife Review to mention 'horse semen'. My Bucket List is complete. Thank you, kind Bro.
I do what I can here.
I stopped buying spyderco a long time ago but dude your reviews are still hilarious !!
Soft screw and lock tight!!! Real talk man.
Gawd! Thickness behind the egde, al last! Thanks for the vid, bro!
I stress I use shitty calipers. Take all of my readings as data points only and not gold.
Awesome Review! Wouldn't want to piss off Baphmoet with a rusty choil!
Nope!
I have both plain edge variants, I think it’s one of their best models yet. I’d really like to see a smaller variant, and sprints. I much prefer it to the PM2.
I like the size just fine... but this a good new design- but you could make different non rust free variants and still be a very useful blade.
Smaller variant... yeah!
Billy Ocean lol, I love this channel.
Now, we're sharing the same dreeeeemmm,
I want this knife... but I own a Lc200n mule already, and I am satisfied with that given the issue of galvanic corrosion. Mean this shouldn't be an issue if you take care of your blades, but the "rustfree" claim just seems too good to be true. Even my pm2 which I consider to be pretty corrosion resistant... Already has surface rust on the stop pin after 3 months of light almost everyday use. My only mistake that I made (that comes to mind) is I washed the knife too much. I always dried it with a microfiber cloth afterwards. I attempted to get every nook, but some how came short at the stop pin. So now when I look at knives, I consider the totality of the piece. No sense to have a rust proof blade if the handle can still rust out. Also, the Spyderco rep informed me that they use tool steel in the pm2s stop pin because it is hard steel... My question, wouldn't stainless but the same if not better because now the pin is even less susceptible to rust? I plan to take my knife a part tomorrow for a deep clean, something Spyderco doesn't exactly enjoy... but like I said if the stop pin was stainless I wouldn't need to do corrective surgery. RANDOM NOTE Bought a Viper Knives Fortis and it is what a great pocket knife should be. m390 blade with full titanium frame lock.
It's like the tenacious cool brother
Have a sheepsfoot and is a great food prepper.
The handle scales are cool, just did not like the shiney on the black. A little 600 grit wet sand killed the shine and gives a bit better feel.
One of my favs.
Yeah... it is Shiny isn’t it?
I didn’t have to dial the pivot. I just kept flicking and flicking. It broke in quite nicely.
OMG!! Ez knife!! THX
I have the mule in lc200n. It’s some pretty good steel. Easily retains its edge longer than h1
So far so good... my edge still looks factory.
I thought about an LC200N Mule myself -- fantasizing that one wasn't as yet unobtainium -- but, honestly, I can't see much practical benefit to LC200N on the right fixed blade design. I'm steeling myself to pull the trigger today on a Bradford Guardian in Nitro-V, though, which might have further benefits.
Practically speaking, I'm pretty much already 'there' for any salty on-water tasks I could anticipate with the Krupp 4116 on my cheap Cold Steel Lites with polypropylene handles.
Frederick J. Yeah 4116 will pretty much get you through most tasks. And Bradford guardians are very nice, I almost bought the m390 version, but got a griptilian in m390 with carbon fiber handles instead. Nitro-v wasn’t around at the time, I might have went with the guardian lol.
You can still grab one on Massdump. For another couple of days, or so...
I have much optimism that the N690cos + the minimalist, easy take-apart design on my new Spy-DK will effectively be as "Salt" as really required for small boat sailing and sea kayaking, given sensible end-of-working-day maintenance. Definitely a featherweight, but very capable thin shorts, sweaty day option, I think, subbing for my likewise 1.90 ounce K390 Urban!
Frederick J. Thanks. Yeah N60 is pretty good
Had my eye on these. Which is painful, let me tell you. Eyes are fragile things.
Not stab resistant!
The liners are also LC200N and screws titanium.
That’s partially true. There have been revisions to this model. If you look at the description in the video at the time this knife was reviewed the screws were steel and not titanium.
I like the pm2 choil quite a bit. I've had my eye on the lil native but haven't done anything about it cause I have a pm2 Wich is the daddy version and I can only justify my want of it. Because I want it. Yes. Also the fact that you like the fact so much interest me. I like small stabby blades. Like the leek or that line. And the crkt m16. Seriously I love that blade. But I never carry it because the stupid fram lock on mine is so hard to disengage. Whatever. I really enjoyed this video
It's partially looks, partially the utility of the thin tip. It's just a knife I feel good about. Light, doesn't take up much room in the pocket- grippy. When a manufacturer takes time to consider blade proportion to weight, and not "overbuild" a knife that doesn't require it- then I really like it. Buy a fixed blade if you need a "tough" knife.
Advanced Knife Bro fair enough. Good response
“Sal gotta eat” 🤣
Funny video. They should call it the Spyderco "bumble bee" series.
Bumblebee tuna.
They could call a smaller, low profile iteration the "Stinger".
Purchasing either the Caribbean or the Kapara. Which one should I get?
I was going to ask about the baby but my suspicions were confirmed in this video and it's good to know I have another brother in the order. ..HS 😃
Shes the leader!
I heard on another Utube review that the screws are also Ti. not sure about the pivot.
That's definitely not true. I emailed Spyderco about this directly (after the review) and Sals assistant told me they were stainless. Liner is LC200N though, and the clip is Ti. That isn't to say they might not make upgrades, but as of a week after this review production models were shipping with stainless screws.
It's about time you batoned with a folder again. Now if you did some slo mo kung fu moves to test it's resistance to air I'd be all set.
I know... this was missing slow mo- I had Saturday to Tuesday to churn this out, so I cut corners.
I do not prefer a foreword choil over a longer cutting edge. My favorite is actually, this knife’s setup.
I like the choil
I suggest all knife company should make the handle blade space tapered customized to the blade to add more stability in closed blade centering, handle durability and aesthetic geometry.
Screw knife weight. I’m 170 lb so a extra oz or two isn’t going to kill me. Unless someone kills me with it 🤔
If you carried the knife in slacks or an interior suit jacket pocket you might feel different.
For eample I'm carrying a Cold Steel Code 4 today and it keeps sliding down my pocket and bumping against my flashlight. I feel it swinging in against my man boob as I walk.
Advanced Knife Bro lol. Yea in light clothes it can definitely make a difference. But I’m normally in dickies, some kind of cargo shorts or long gym pants with a string to hold them up. So it never really was a problem for me. Code4 is a good knife tho.
Advanced Knife Bro for me 7 to 8 oz is where I can feel it in my pocket. In my cloths I can’t really even notice a 6oz knife in my pocket. And I definitely can’t feel the difference between a 4 and 6 oz knife in my cloths.
Never really tried a crazy heavy knife in my workout pants tho. I could probably feel a difference in them. With those I normally carry a sabenza or pm2
4 and slightly over is fine. If it's much more than that, it's after work or weekend jeans wear.
Well they have arrived in the UK, I did pull the trigger and went for the Sheepfoot Serrated version. Arrives tomorrow ;)
Nice job!
Yeah I'll wait for that different handle color passive aggressive knife bro
A properly passive aggressive comment!
Ooooo, nice.
It's a goodie!
Great video! This isn't the cheapest Spyderco at 165.00 blade HQ. Random question, what do you think about the Benchmade North fork?
Looks good... however, handle might be a bit small for what I like. Knowing the grip area would be the key for me.
I think I read from Sal over on Bladeforums "Its not where your knife is made, but by who!"
The man himself!
I too avoided the Shaman train...
I like the option of using a choil. Like on the Millie. I’m ok with being forced to use it on small knives.
Soft screws and lock tight 😺🙀😹
Yeah I don't like it on small knives, just to give you a proper handle size.
Choil vs handle it really depends on the knife and task. It does help with controlling the blade. It's not very useful for battoning so I can see why you don't like it though :P
I spend about half my time in an area with sub 3" length stupidity laws and for some reason there are makers that don't think dudes with bear claw hands should be able to get a full grip on a smaller knife. I've seen a few smaller knives with handles that effective grip lengths seemingly made for toddler sized hands because of the butt and guard thickness/sticking out. So a choil can turn a knife I simply can't/won't use into one that I can.
There are also sub 2.5" knives that would be impossible to have a full grip on without a choil, like the dragonfly/pilar.
Yeah some of those smaller knives I've never been interested in. I don't live in an area with those sub 3 inch rules- but some people do.
Were you goin for Martin Yan? With the Guy Fieri joke. Just couldn't figure it out cause....well I'm in it for the jokes. And the knives. I also like the flashlights. And a touch of the ennui.
I watch the beer videos when I run out of easily findable.. the other ones, cause for me alcohol lies somewhere between a problem and a thing my fiancèée doesnt like. But, based on your comments, I wish other people watched them more.
Knife.
“Pig blood, moose urine, horse semen” 😂🤣😂 It’s like you’re reading my mind man. I really like this knife. I’ve been drooling over this one and the Hundred Pacer.
Oh and stop shaming me for watching your videos. Time enjoyed is never time wasted. Also, I learned about guts getting in holes so win-win! 👍🏼
Gotta watch out for guts in holes man... ain't no body like it!
That’s my new PFD knife.
Why did I not remember personal flotation device?
Definitely prefer a choil on most of my Spydies
I need a 2.5 in knife in lc200n for when the Atlantic Ocean inevitably reclaims the seaport District in Boston
Is this the new Fallout?
Now that I think about it, yeah that's basically Fallout 4
Careful with your Endura, i had two of them break on me
I’ve not had that problem and I bought mine in 2012
Fuck man, you’re funny lol. Little late but instant sub and like. Do an updated review of the Caribbean!
Hail right back atchya! Your soul is much appreciated! 👹👺😈
PLEASED TO MEET YOU
Those are some swanky looking shorts! 😊
My favorite. I feel so fancy when I wear them!
I like a finger choil for some cutting tasks.
Advanced Snark Bro.
Who dat
I love the video very funny and also in 4 minutes I guess and I can't believe that you're 38 lol
Yup... 39 in October.
With Spyderco raising their prices it's going to cost 1/3 more then a Caribbean cruise
Depending on which package you get!
...Or for some more hedonistic "vacation" destinations, perhaps, which sort of package you got. Again, not a quandary I'll need to contemplate, being now both old *and* respectable (yawn)...
"looks real sassy"
Actual lol
Lol all hail the lizard king 0:09
Is The Shametrain like a follow up to The Human Centipede?
A to M all the way down.
If you baton with a folder you should release the lock so you don't break it. :)
Every few months someone comes here and says this. I don’t really have anything to say about this comment other than “I read your post.”
Goodbye SpydieChef (from my buy next Spyderco list), hello Caribbean (to my buy next Spyderco list). I almost feel like something happened here today. Hooray!
Nothing happened here today!
I love my SpydieChef.
Hail . . . . I really like my Caribbean for death Cult Activities. Other steels start to rust at the sight of puppy or kitten blood, where the LC200N sadistically laughs at the blood as it spits it out like Richard Simmons on stage at the Cheyenne Frontier Days. Or was that a Gene Simmons' ball sweat workout video?!?
Seems like it's a little chunky? Blocky? Is it bulky in the pocket? I don't leave my knives in the ocean so rust free doesn't matter as much so I'll probably opt for the PM2 when I jump on the Spyderco train.
It's a bit wide, but not heavy. I dunno, it's a little more about weight to me since I carry it by itself in an inside suit pocket. PM2 has a slimmer profile for sure.
Well I appreciate your videos so thanks for putting them out!
