Just getting into Countdown here in the states - unfortunately, we only get Cats Countdown on BritBox, not this version. But you did really, really well!
This is episode 4414 as of Monday 13th August 2007 in Series 57 & the original episode 4269 was as of the 4th quarter-final in the Champions of Champions XII.
Sad to think you don't have any shows like that at all over there!? I'm guessing you don't have anything like Only Connect or University Challenge either?
If I recall, there was at least some talks to bring a version of Countdown to the US several years ago, but sadly, I don't think most people on this side of the pond would find it entertaining, hence why it didn't happen. US game shows in recent years, have taken on more of a "comedy" theme; I think he only way a Countdown adaptation would work in the US is if it was like 8 out of 10 Cats...more comedy, less gameplay, because according to Hollywood, nobody watches a game show for the game.
Two thoughts (Spoilers) I'm a little surprised they didn't accept "matted". Motorcycle helmets can be matted or glossed. Also, for the last numbers game, just for fun I would have done: 6-1=5 25/5=5 100+5=105 Or: ((6*6)-1)*3=105 Or to use all the numbers: 100/25=4 4-1=3 3*6=18 18*6=108 108-3=105
@@marcopl5562 Whoops! Somehow my brain "saw" another T. Sorry about that. Incidentally, I just looked it up: the longest valid word is "damaged". (This is regarding the letters at 30:02.)
It looks like he went off to uni and graduated! He now seems to work as a Test Analyst for Yodel, but also blogs about mental health via The Huffington Post. So I think he channeled being bullied into something wonderful and is doing well atm.
I wish we could go back to these days when they had proper hosts. Des O'Connor may not have lived up to Richard Whiteley, but he was a very decent host with bags of charm and a friendly spirit. Frankly I thought getting Nick Hewer was an insane move and I stopped watching when he came along. But now it's got even more ridiculous, with Ann Robinson, and women hosts! It's like they're just vandalising the show, now.

This is much cheaper though
"The only time we'll have vulgarity on countdown is in the conundrum"
Step up 8 out of 10 cats does countdown xD
0fidudjdjdjdjeies’sksi#sushhshwuxusu
I think someone knelt on their device
You beat me to it. :D I don't think it was too much longer after this that Cats does Countdown started. A year or so later?
Don't forget about the "wankers" incident too.
There's always been plenty of vulgarity, it's just not said out loud.
2007 but looks like it was recorded in 1990
True
Did you ever become an accountant? Or did you end up on a different career path?
1st & 3rd numbers games were too easy yet again. The 2nd was on,y off by 3.
17:33 transpose patroness
My way for 164:
25 × 6 = 150
9 + 5 = 14
150 + 14 = 164
That's how I got it.
Same mate!
Same

This is Episode 4422.
Episode 4415 and Episode 4269 was on 12th June 2006
Well done, Bradley. 8-)
5x100=500
9+2=11
10-4=6
11x6=66
500+66=566
I did this:
5x10=50
50+100=150
150-9=141
141x4=564
564+2=566
25*6=150
9+5=14
150+14=164
Surely that is the easiest method?
It's certainly an easy method
I like it when there is a simple answer but there is a more fun way
So, did you get Carol, Susie or Des' job?
+countdowngoofs
32:36 - One of the easiest numbers rounds ever?
why didn't Carol push the button again? I've seen Rachel do that if it's too easy.
Heres the hard way to do it (25x3)+(6x6)-6
11:28 Slovenia for 8?
105 is gotten by 3 x 6 x 6 = 108 & (100 / 25) - 1 = 3 and thus 108 - 3 = 105; there must be some challenge involved at least
18:20 also PATRONESS as well as TRANSPOSE for nine
My Numbers Game #1:
25 + 6 = 31 X 5 = 155 + 9 = 164
I did 25×6=150 then 9+5=14 then add them together
17:30 There's a 9: TRANSPOSE
Nice! Very impressive.
8:44
NERAK???
KAREN???
Genius.
Countdown today its not the same without Carol vordaman she was good on here
I wish something this highbrow could be on American TV.
Don't think it would be popular

@@Scripture-Man We do have “Jeopardy”, but that’s as highbrow as we get.
Brilliant
I got 'flankers' as well.
100+6+1=107,
6/3=2
107-2=105.
25:45: 566 _6_
25x6=150+9+5=164
100+(6-1)=105
I got 164 that way
164:
25 + 9 = 34
34 x 5 = 170
170 - 6 = 164
Yuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhtttyyuuuuuyyyyyuuytt
I got 105 by doing 6 x 6 is 12 ÷ 3 is 4 + 1 is 5 then + 100
25x6=150+9=159+5=164
For 566:
100*5 = 500
10 - 4 = 6
9 + 2 = 11
6 * 11 = 66
500 + 66 = 566
I got the same
I had a nine letter on the preosntas mine was petronass

TFW you get 'diadem' but thought of it as a horcrux. #HarryPotterIsLove
TFW you get 'proxies' but thought of it as a verb. #LeagueOfLegendsIsLife
6/6 = 1
3+1+1 = 5
25/5 = 5
100 + 5 = 105
Cleverer!!!
That's what I worked out :)
25 x 6 = 150 + 9 + 5 = 164
164=25×6+9+5
Two thoughts (Spoilers)

Also, for the last numbers game, just for fun I would have done:
6-1=5
25/5=5
100+5=105

((6*6)-1)*3=105
Or to use all the numbers:
100/25=4
4-1=3
3*6=18
18*6=108
108-3=105
They didn't accept "matted" because there was only one T and you cannot use a letter more than once
@@marcopl5562 Whoops! Somehow my brain "saw" another T. Sorry about that.
