With the Infinity War coming I think a real collector would pay good money for them. I don't think those books were as massed produced as other comic events were. It all depends on how interested the buyer is.
Free Range Nerd Thanos Quest is equally as important as The Infinity Gauntlet run. It gives you insight into who Thanos is as a character, and almost makes you route for him to succeed. The Infinity Gauntlet shows him unravel recklessly, drunk with power. They compliment each other beautifully.
The Power gem is the most important, unlike the other gems, the power gem works in tandem with the others to further amplifying their powers and allow them to reach their full potential. Damn guardians I was so close.
Wrong, its because Thanos attacked Nebula because he finds offensive that somebody would imply that he, Death's greatest servant, would drop progeny and create life.
Thor is over a thousand years old. maybe much more if we count the cycles of Ragnarok. Wolverine over 100. Why would they want to make Thanos more relatable than two main Marvel heroes? I'm 100% sure it has NOTHING to do with that.
oh man that moment with the Infinity Gauntlet in JLA/Avengers was awesome. cant wait to see the episode. Ya'll should do it live!! We'll follow along at home and shit. Bong!!
You guys have a great show. I've seen some other comic book shows and not enjoyed them. Yours I'm showing up every day to watch another episode. So, great work!
I think in a way that Thanos as a character has been ill-served by being entirely defined by "The Infinity Gauntlet," and in particular by the bizarre misunderstanding of that story as a sort of blockbuster crossover full of superhero pyrotechnics where the Avengers fight a super-powered baddie and take him down. "Gauntlet" was, in typically Starlin fashion, a wonderfully trippy headpiece filled with psychedelic imagery and bizarre reality-warping dreamscapes - and, also typical of Starlin, it dispenses with its big-name superheroes in an almost hilariously brusque fashion, with the omnipotent Thanos bumping off the laughably ineffectual remains of Earth's Mightiest Heroes in increasingly morbid and creative ways, like a little kid pulling the legs off a bug. A-list characters like Captain America, Spider Man, Iron Man, and Wolverine (memorably dispatched by having his bones turned to rubber!) are of far less import to the story than the underrated supernatural heroes like Silver Surfer and Doctor Strange (to say nothing of Adam Warlock), and the whole thing is really a story about what happens when a universe-conquering villain finally conquers the universe, only to realize that even that will never make him happy. "Gauntlet" really is the culmination of Starlin's work on Thanos as a character (he really could have left him retired as a farmer on that planet, and if we never saw him again, it would kind of been perfect), but that's just the end or climax of who Thanos is - it's not the entire story. Marvel, by trotting him out as a rote glowering supervillain for their next chain of blockbusters - and regressing his characterisation in the comics as a petty and brutish cosmic potentate - show how little they understand the character, and how little they understand the old stories they're currently trying to exploit.
CapMar-Vell92 Returns you cloud make that argument about a lot of the characters in the marvel cinematic universe, but that's a lot of the time the main issue with taking sprawling, decade-long story arcs and compressing them into a 2 hour film. It's the flaw with the entire MCU and why i kind of despise it
There were comics which did show Thanos gathering all of the gems to build up to Infinity Gauntlet, it just wasn't in this particular trade. I think the trade which does have them is called Silver Surfer: Rebirth of Thanos
+50jakecs The two issues of Thanos Quest are included in that trade, along with some issues of Silver Surfer's own title at the time, which have Thanos in them
To really get the whole story of the return of Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet you have to read Silver Surfer (vol2) 34-50 along with the Thanos Quest mini where he actually gets the Gems from the Elders of the Universe who don't realize how powerful they actually are.
the reality gem in the movies, probably does alchemy stuff, like the old "water to wine" trick. Or like in thor 2, changing light.. into dark (or whatever that cgi was doing...).
Way back when I played World of Warcraft, there was a region on the extra-planar world of Outland called Netherstorm. High on a plateau in the north area of that zone, there was a single Orc farmer that I think about every time I ready Infinity Gauntlet. If I recall correctly, he was in exile as well. I wonder if it was a direct reference. Bought trades since I started watching Back Issues: 9
Lol when the watcher image shows up, there's a small panel in the bottom right that says "wow really?" when Sal is talking about how the watcher has a long standing relationship with the fantastic four. Nice editing Sal I laghued fuckin hard homie 🙌
Thanos gets all power but cant convince Mistress Death to love him without forcing her. He felt like life wasn't worth living, and that pissed him off more. Anyone like that would be like an angry 15-year-old lol
Love the series guys but he didn't just have the infinity Gems there was a whole series of comics where he gathers them from elders of the universe barbarians called the champion and so on he has to trick then into getting their gems he even gets one from the inbetweener. Just wanted to let you know also the gems came from a a single entity and there's another gem retconned out called the ego gem that houses the original host of all the hems called nemesis.
I'm shocked Sal didn't know about Thanos first 2 big arcs before this, captain marvel #25 thru 33 involving the cosmic cube and Warlock #9 thru #11 involving the magus
Yet another entertaining episode! I really feel all of these Hickman Avenger titles will be way more enjoyable in trade form, I'm a huge Hickman fan but the slow pace is murdering me. Also, is there any chance of getting a Brian K. Vaughan Saga episode? I know it's fairly new but it's so fucking good and already complicated enough to get a Back Issues out of it!
It really is one of those books, like Preacher or Sandman, where it doesn't matter how long it's been out, you just don't wanna spoil any aspect of it.
Great videos guys, also cool new profile pic. One thing to consider, Death doesn't like Thanos, but she does like Deadpool, one of the most annoying people in the Marvel Universe.
Thank you! We're working on rolling out some new designs over the next little bit. That's funny about Death and Deadpool. I know she has a soft spot for Peter Parker, too. At least, she lets him go. At least in this: bit.ly/1uuZo6n
Uh, guys, the Reality Gem manipulates reality. For instance you can turn granite into water, gold into salt, etc. You have the power to change the environment. That's how Thanos turned Wolvie's skeleton into rubber. He changed the part of reality that made adamantium unbreakable into a reality where it's soft and bendy. This is something that the other individual gems can not do. I know this is oversimplifying it, but I hope this helps you understand what the Reality Gem does.
My point was simply that power and space are part of reality, so the reality gem should be able to do everything the power and space gems can do, making them kind of superfluous. Arguably mind, soul and time are part of reality as well. In fact if you have the reality gem what is to stop you from altering reality so that you have all the gems? It seems the reality gem would be the only gem you ever need. For that matter, couldn't you just alter reality such that half of life in the universe is dead, meaning that Thanos didn't even need the infinity gauntlet to do that, all he needed was the reality gem? And if you can't do that than I'm very confused as to what the boundaries of the reality gem's powers are.
From what I can understand about how the Gems work, each individual Gem can only alter the facet it has control over to a certain point. The limit of the individual Gem is based on the ability of the person who is in control of it. Now, it has been stated that the Reality Gem is potentially the most powerful gem, but if someone who has no clue what they are doing tries to wield it to it's highest power, it will spin out of control, shifting through alternate realities, and could cause it's user to cease to exist. That's one reason why you would need the other Gems, to keep reality in check with what the user wants reality to be. Let's take the example of destroying half of life in the universe: You have the Reality Gem, but no other. You wish that half of the lives in the universe is to be destroyed. Now, what keeps you from being one of those killed? What if I have the Time Gem and use it to see into the future, giving me the knowledge of what you intend to do? Well, I just go back in time and (hopefully) stop you from ever gaining possession of the Reality Gem in the first place. I know, it's really complex to explain (plus, I don't think Marvel thought about all the "geeks" who would over-analyze the Gems powers), but I'm trying my best to explain what kind of limits you have if you are only in possession of the Reality Gem and why it's not an "end all, be all" type of thing. Hope this makes it a little more clear (BTW, thanks for the reply).
patgeta2678 Yeah that makes sense. Or at least enough sense for me to give it a pass and move on lol. And yeah I have no doubt Marvel didn't spend a lot of time internally deciding how the Infinity Gems work.
I read the latest Avengers and New Avengers run (leading up to Secret Wars). The art is awesome and dark. The writing is slightly confusing but I found it so gripping!

Thaons is just kinda OP and whatever the writers want him to be like. When Starlin's writing him, he's pretty consistent. Otherwise they're kind of like, "Whatever.."
Check out the Comics Explained review of this game, he does it in 8 parts and goes real in depth into it. I LOVE this story. It is really good. (Sorry if its a mistake with suggesting to check out the other channel, but they are all on theweeklypull.net, so I thought it would be ok.)
You don't understand the story and some points are just wrong. Death doesn't become Thanos girlfriend (equal) because he transcended to a higher plane of existence having the glove.
WORST back issues, ever. Just to bring in and keep the crowd who watches the movies, they talk about tons of things other than the original Infinity Gauntlet. DC now copies this with still force and all that crap.
Oooh, you dropped the ball on the ``Dr. Doom and his mom`` thing. She wasn`t a bitch, she was actually pure and sacrificed herself to save Latviria from a tyrant and was ``punished`` for it. It`s the reason why he`s so arrogant and evil because she was the most noble, living saint he`s ever known and her reward was eternal damnation. Hell, he finally rescued his mother once and she saw what he`d become and she voluntarily went back to Hell.
Represent! We might have preorders on shirts, but we'll definitely have some kind of merch for ya. And if you can't make it, totally understandable. We'll try to have something up on the channel for those who have geographic hindrances.
Finally getting the chance to check this video out.
Yay! Here's hoping you like it!
ComicPOP could you Guds do Infinity War and/or Infinity Crusade and Thanos Quest?
I want you guys to collab at least once so bad lol
This exchange is going down in the ComicPOP Historical Archives.
And... I realize that you guys have been for years 😭😭
"you can trust me cause im fucking captain america" hahaha this quote is so much better now
There were 2 books titled Thanos Quest showing how he acquired all 6 gems before the Infinity Gauntlet series. Great videos dudes.
Thanks, Chris!
With the Infinity War coming I think a real collector would pay good money for them. I don't think those books were as massed produced as other comic events were. It all depends on how interested the buyer is.
I hear that.
Christopher Wurtz In a lot of ways I enjoy reading Thanos Quest even more than Infinity Gauntlet.

So the power gem is the most useless by itself?
@@nubworthycigars6682 Nah, it still kinda works like a Mario-Mushroom Power up.
Those are some of the best stories of the bronze Era of marvel
Grab dat gem
who ate my pasghetti?
The nature of the Reality Gem has always puzzled me, too!
Fair to say that there's a "shred" of this book in Infinity War.
*snaps fingers
He kills half the universe
“You will never see the fantastic 4 in the MCU” well well well that didn’t age well
Right? What a bunch of fucking morons, assuming Disney wouldn't spend 71 BILLION dollars to own Fox.
Try to show off to get some on the first date, end up going home to be a farmer of rocks and misery.
Just Some Guy with a Mustache jesus you are everywhere
I just want to reach past your head and grab all the copies of Amazing Spiderman 4 on that shelf
The reason they don't want to say if Nebula is Thanos' granddaughter or not is because that makes Thanos seem old and not relatable.
_Whoosh._
Don't worry Smokey. I got you.
Batman joke?
Haha I get it....
Fantastic show guys. Discovered you last week and I've already watched every episode. Great stuff!
Wow, thanks Andrew!
The Thanos Quest explains everything about the Infinity Gems.
I'll check it out!
Thanos Quest is actually better than The Infinity Gauntlet imo.
I totally agree. its quite a gem
Gabriel Carlisle nice!
Best Thanos story imo.

The Reality Gem can turn people into ribbons!
Very good video. Really entertaining and funny.
Avengers -jla next maybe?

I have watched nearly every episode. Big fan guys.
+Michael O'Reily Thank you, Michael!
ComicPOP Anytime guys. Really, love back issues.
Please cover back issue on thanos quest
Guys, sometime soon can you do either Batman: NML, or Avengers Forever? Thanks!
We've got AF in the shop, I think. So possibly!
The whole story of Thanos destroying the elders of the universe to acquire the gems is even better than the final fight, in my opinion.
I read the latest Avengers and New Avengers run (leading up to Secret Wars). The art is awesome and dark. The writing is slightly confusing but I found it so gripping!
Thunder Strike...sigh trying to forget that happened
I love Thunderstrike.
Ditto
Also avengers annual #7 and marvel 2 in 1 annual #2 was the big finale
Someone has probably already said it, but I'll say it myself just in case they didn't: Ben leading this episode would have been really fun.
I bought that Infinity Gauntlet book on sale at Hastings
Damn, this was 8 years ago
By our power combined I am Captain Pl....wrong IP.
As far as the whole reality gem, it can for example make your enemy a monster with the thirst for rabbits because you warp that unto reality. Or you can make your self a billionare but making that your reality.
I have a question, After fighting Thanos most of the heroes are are killed. thank you.
It's fascinating to me thinking about things like Hickman's New Avengers, just how broad his work is.
His avengers is super dark, his fantastic four is way less dark, and for me is the definitive version of these characters (besides Mark Waid's) Secret Warriors is basically an action thriller, and goes from dark to fun very quickly.; and his SHIELD is a crazy mindbender. That each feels natural within the same universe is crazy to me.
Awesome story .. Thanos rebirth is a great one too that leads into this one.
You should do the thanos imperative I just read it and really liked it
I read it a few days ago... I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around it.
Nothing is better then the Astral Conflagration.
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like DC is much better at huge crossover events than Marvel.
Honestly DC just has better storylines than Marvel overall
I don't refute that, but I just feel that many of the big earth shattering events for Marvel seem to fall short narratively while DC has been able to write well a little more consistently
Jake Mayorquin I feel like huge crossovers for both companies turn into giant quagmires narratively eventually
Hey comic pop I know you guys are from the northern New Jersey so do any cons you go to are in the southern counties are the mid state are nearby Pennsylvania and DELAWARE (where supposedly metropolis is)?
I live when Steve goes to the iluminaties to stop the incursions and he is all like
steve-guys, guys, don't freak out. i know you are all smart cookies, and you'll find a solution. we are supers, we can do it.
tony-steve, steve * knocks him down * okay, Strange, perform a lobotomy on him. make him forget evrything he knows. we'll keep killing worlds"
Awesome
Was Deadpool around during The Infinity Gauntlet? If not, can you imagine if he was?
Robbie Lee He wasn’t, and Deadpool is overexposed tbh
My uncle has the original release of the infinity gauntlet.
Ha I just bought and read this last week, good pick. Couldn't call the ending to this book at all ha.
Thanks! Yeah, that ending...
TVLittleHouse I was like WHAT?! big bad Thanos became a fucking farmer?!
the stuff that you guys are talking about, with reed richards gaining the gauntlet, and then captain america's journey through time, what graphic novels can I get that cover these arcs?
It's Jonathan Hickman's entire run on Avengers and New Avengers, if you want a quick run down of it read Secret Wars issue 0 (it's free)
rbraunbeck96
ok is it the new secret wars or the old ones?
ninjarai001 New Secret Wars
So a lavender skinned alien who prefers to wear royal blue and gold spandex, collects six colorful gems to put into his sparkley gold glove and is the strongest and most intimidating foe of the universe . . . why wouldn't they change them to Infinity Stones?
LOL sal is also a mere mortal and cannot explain reality
Reed Richards (human): *cant use the gauntlet*
Captain America (also human): *can use the gauntlet because fuck you*
What is the name of the comic you talk about the 3 minute mark and did you do a back issue on it✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
It's basically Hickman's New Avengers. Not yet!
ComicPOP hope you guys cover it :D
I liked time runs out
To get a better infinity gauntlet just search
INFINITY GAUNTLET GLOVE Thanos Nebula avengers wearable movable fingers
So wait, no Watcher in MCU because of Fox having Fantastic Four movie rights?
Reason #93,765,43,234,567,890,987,654,345,678,987,654 to #BoycottFantasticFour
Right? Ugh. No Galactus, no Watcher, no Skrulls (possibly), no Badoon... It's a disaster. Just stop, FOX.
I want my Stan lee as the watcher Camilo!
What about the 7th gem ego
It seems like Thanos is only relevant when he has the gauntlet, but what does he have besides that? Like does he have any crazy powers or is he just a strong guy?
Apparently he can't die and he's really tough. That's the gist of it, as far as I know.
Sounds kinda useless when hes supposed to be a copy of darkseid who can shoot frickin lazers out of his eyes.
TVLittleHouse thanos also spent half his life traveling the universe learning the "dark arts" and "dark magic"; he is also rated as super intelligent by Marvel, which is ironic because in Infinity Gauntlet he acts like a high school boy haha
So he can do magic then? Well that would help make him more of an actual threat.
Thaons is just kinda OP and whatever the writers want him to be like. When Starlin's writing him, he's pretty consistent. Otherwise they're kind of like, "Whatever.."

Dr.doom is a great sorcerer 2nd best
also, rise of thanos, the silver surfer graphic novel shows how he gets all the gems. Pretty ingenious actually lol
Masonic hand signs by Sal at the opening of the vid.
I think it's a gem, we have misunderstood it it was created for people who have sleeping issues 🤣
Sal you need to do more research...
You don't understand the story and some points are just wrong. Death doesn't become Thanos girlfriend (equal) because he transcended to a higher plane of existence having the glove.
What's the problem with the nasa shirt dude?
Kind of old school-writing for today standars
The gems are useless outside this universe.
read Thanos Quest, that is the story of Thanos collecting all of the jems and forming the gauntlet. These guys should do a little more research.
We appreciate you checking out the show!
Thanks Bill.
Jersey Native here! I`ll try to make it out to see the panel lie. Have some shirts or something that we can buy.
Represent! We might have preorders on shirts, but we'll definitely have some kind of merch for ya. And if you can't make it, totally understandable. We'll try to have something up on the channel for those who have geographic hindrances.
