As a multi-Subaru owner I am very disappointed that a pickup truck is not in the future plans of the company. Comparing Baja statistics is, respectfully, misleading. The Baja was never seriously viewed as a pickup truck. If Subaru developed a Maverick or Ranger sized pickup truck I am convinced it would be a big seller.

My daughter and I are Subaru owners. We (me and everyone I know) do not want controls on the touch screen! They are a pain and a driving distraction. I am more than happy to keep buying older models with the traditional controls. There are plenty to select from.
Spending that kind of money, I expect to buy what I like and with the wide selection available out there it will be easy to find them.

Anything coming to the Ascent? Any digital screens for driver display? Any engine or powertrain improvements since many car manufacturers are moving back away from CVT transmissions? I am considering an Ascent but seems like GrandHighlander or Pilot or GMC Acadia (all ‘24 or ‘25 models) are updating their interiors and drivetrains to a much higher state of digital and mechanical refinement than Subaru has done recently. Just curious if Subaru will follow suit.

Great job Alex! I was in Subaru in the early 2000’s and Bajas were different but not super practical!as far as electric Subaru’s go, if we don’t have enough capacity in the electrical grid to run a/c in the summer, how will millions of cars get plugged in and charged up? Hybrid makes much more sense and relieves the issue of range anxiety! In the mean time how about some road repairs so what we are driving doesn’t get the $hit knocked out of it going to the grocery store???!!!

Will the outback be equipped with a 110v power outlet? My wife's minivan has one and we use it a lot. I thought my 2022 would come with one but it didn't so I have a bulky inverter plugged into the back 12v outlet, which both takes up the 12v outlet and gets in the way. Seems like it wouldn't be a terribly difficult option to add a "good" inverter with 110v outlet in the back of all subaru vehicles but for now we're stuck finding an aftermarket shop or RV customizer to put one in if we don't know how to do the electrical work correctly ourselves.

I had a Brat bought new in '78. Was great until caught in a flood in '82. Then a used wagon that wore out at ~112k miles, but served well until then. Also a short-lived hatchback for the wife. I got so good at changing DOJ and CV boots that I could have it in and out of the garage in 30 minutes. All-told, a dozen boots between the three vehicles. Hope this is no longer an issue as the daughter has a Crosstrek on order.

Not that I'm a forecasting specialist about small-mid size trucks, but I agree about not pursuing a Subaru truck. They'd probably be coming in a little late on that trend if they did, so it wouldn't be worth the effort. And honestly? I just keep the rear seats in my Outback down 80% of the time and it's sufficiently hauled everything I've needed it to so far. That option for versatility can't be beat (in my opinion, anyway).

    Alex,
Sorry to hear that Subaru is not planning a small truck.😢
We have been in Subarus since 2016 and will need to replace my old Ridgeline.
No thanks for a Ford or GM in a small truck.
    Thanks again helping Subaru people.

Alex, I like your videos. I wish you could forward this up the ladder. Subaru insists on CVTs. Many people don't like CVTs (ME! ME! ME!) Subaru already HAS a manual transmission, why not offer it as an option for those who prefer it. No engineering. No mods. Drop in a manual instead of an auto and voila! I'd love a Crosstrek with the 182hp engine with a manual. Yes there is the WRX and the BRZ, but those are not what I am looking for. So, I won't be looking a Subaru for the next car. I will accept a real auto, or a manual. NO CVTs!! It really sucks. Their cars are sweet! Cheers and keep the videos coming.

Thnx for helpful info. Would be really nice to read/see what makes Eyesight 4.0 different from other eyesights (Subaru offers only vague comments and I can not find any RUclips posts discussing it (top secret info or something ???)). Subaru advocacy won't tell me either.

Not super excited about lack of entry level PU truck. Can Subaru compete with Toyota's class leading hybrid software? Maybe a joint venture? Battery vehicles make manufacturers soft and fuzzy for regulations. Affordable vehicles, cheap energy wins the day (DUH)

I was looking to buy an 2025 Outback. But hearing that the hybrid isn't until at least '26 is disappointing. Even more disappointing is that there doesn't seem to be any major changes for the '25 model. If it doesn't come with the 360 back up cam view like the '25 Forester, I may look into other options outside of Subaru.

You forgot to add that the WR X will now have eyesight even the manual transmissions, I have been trying to buy one up here in Wisconsin and they just won’t give me the amount of money that I need to trade my 22 WRX Limited for a 24 WRX Limitedwhat could your dealership do on a 24 out the door including all tax title and license I have no problem driving to Louisville because I used to live 70 miles south east of Louisville and my sister still lives there.

I’m have a ‘24 Outback Touring XT. The car is absolutely a dream to drive, I love it. As for the absolutely HORRIBLE infotainment thing. I have had mine replaced and it is still malfunctioning.
I don’t think they were really ready to let that big screen POS out into the public. My car is going back in for the 5th or 6th time for this issue. 🤬

The previous Baja was a flop because it was bulky and ungainly looking as it was an Outback that had been modded. The heavy looking lower cladding did nothing to help the appearance. That said the world has changed and a truck-let version of the Forester would be interesting competition for the Maverick and Santa Cruz.

Autoline Detroit are a global automotive news channel. They've previously said it takes 66,000 units to break even on a new model. Subaru would need that volume n a new truck. It's a big gamble for a small company. I get why they're not making one.

I noticed the ASCENT is advertised as “larger” yet it has about the same cargo space as the OUTBACK (disappointing). Also the high end ASCENT doesn’t have a rear seat bench
(bummer..). Not but least, as CR notes, the ASCENT lacks a larger engine. Thanks!!
