Scenario has been updated to a little more easier, less bombers. Note during the real mutiny the Soviet Airforce sent about 60 warplanes for the Storozhevoy. :D
Thanks for the mod, it's really a wonderful piece of history. In Russia it's rumored that at some point Sablin realised that nobody would let him speak to the nation, and Baltic Fleet and Naval Aviation will simply sink his ship, so he tried to change his course for Sweden to ask for a political asylum for himself and the part of his crew that supported him. He didn't quite make it anyway. It's still disputed though, as this whole story and many of its facts are still under the shroud of propaganda and secrecy.
The crew freed the captain and then regained control of the ship and surrendered. All went to gulag, including the captain, Sablin was executed. No hits were on target, bombers only managed to hit a friendly ship from pursuing flotilla, despite Storozhevoy actually did not shoot back
@@raa729 well, not exactly. Sablin was executed - yes. But he actively insisted that the whole mutiny thing was his own responsibility and begged to spare the crew. So for others the consequenses were surprisingly soft: only a single sailor (who assisted Sablin most actively) was sentenced for 8 years in prison. Others were just lowered in ranks and transferred to other ships and fleets while signing a non-disclosure agreement, and some others were fired from the military. The ship herself was tranferred to the Pacific and given the entirely new crew and captain.
The Politburo would like to express it thanks to you for the valuable operational testing you provided for our weapon systems. Enjoy your all expenses paid one way trip to Siberia :)
0:44 For those unfamiliar with Soviet history, the Aurora is a protected cruiser built in the late 1890s for the Imperial Russian Navy which was seized by her crew, sailed up the Neva River into Petrograd and at 9:45 PM on the 7th of November 1917 (possibly apocryphally) fired the first shots of the October Revolution. She was later turned into a museum ship by the Soviets for exactly that reason (later being after fighting in WW2), moored on said river, where she remains to this day. She's also one of two surviving ships from the Battle of Tsushima.
17:51 - I guess you could dodge, tho'. If you try to extent directly away from the incoming air strike and go hard to port or starboard the instant the bomber drops its payload. Since the bombs are unguided and impact in a straight line, they should(!) all miss (barely, that is). edit: In addition: countermeasures have a cooldown/reload as well. So if you launch two missiles a couple seconds apart instead of a salvo of two in quick succession, the enemy will be able to evade the first missile, but the second might hit the now defenseless target.
This game like most grossly overestimated soviet capabilities of tech and crew. In real case storozhevoy did not shoot any comrades yet all bombing was extremely off the mark, they managed to hit only the friendly from pursuing flotilla by a change
Stealth btw when using geckos and old Soviet Sam’s just spam rclick on the target and it will ignore flares 😅 (also start maneuvering before they drop and after they drop maneuver the opposite direction, and go full astern, you just have to dodge that one center bomb)
Quite the gauntlet, by the looks of things, doubly so with the questionable AAW of the Krivaks. on an unrelated note: I want to recommend a mission I made, Operation Bodacious.
An Udaloy's missiles (3K95 Kinzhals in VLS launchers) are much better than the Osas carried by a Krivak, but they're also shorter ranged if I remember correctly so I'm not sure how well that would work. Something like a Kashin (with medium-range M-1 Volna SAMs) would probably be better.
23:06: This makes ZERO sense. Chaff works by creating a larger radar return, and the missile targets the center of that return. Since the "ghost image" is so much larger than the target, ideally, the missile would miss. The SA-N-4 here, though, completely ignores the radar return and turns AWAY from what is the center of the new return. I think its hard coded that chaff simply causes the missile to fly off in a random direction. I get that this is a naval sim, but considering how much of a threat aircraft pose to ships, I'm disappointed with how much they neglected air- and surface to air combat.
I'm not sure how SAM ranges are modeled in this game, maybe you can't fire until the target is within that range? Theoretically, you should be able to engage said target before that. For example, the target approaches at 1000 kph and you're firing a SAM that goes 1000 kph to a range of 8 km. You should be able to engage when the target is within 16 km. Tha SAM should meet the target at 8 km distance. Unless radar, radio command, etc. are the limiting factors.
I mean this is obviously simplistic. Just read about SAM Envelopes. This is the kind of thing Aegis is excellent at, but I don't see any of that in this AI, sadly.
Did just manage to get to the end of this one with the fewer aircraft Ship like a Swiss cheese as it took a full load of shells from a destroyer and I ran out of ammunition to shoot back If the AI used the secondary mode on Sams it would’ve been game over
Is there a way to make your ship preload missiles to be ready when planes get in range, because as it stands now the game to my knowlage only lets you do that once the missile is in range and if that missile takes ages to load its a problem
Fun fact: A certain man would get hold of this event, now knowing that he may be murdered by an oppresive autocratic regime that may or may not have flown red on its flag, he changed the details of the entire event while keeping the general plot of the events similar. This would go on to be a very famous Novel that would inspire a Live-Action film of the Novel in 1990 The Novel's name? The Hunt for the Red October
In it's current state the game is garbage... You just have to accept that you have no control of the ships . The game is more frustrating than enjoyable , i wish i could refund...

Wow ok. So this was the easier version.

@@pasha_exodite6475 the real red october yes :) not the movie. I saw a documentary about some years ago about it.
You see, comrade Stealth, those bomb are guided by our glorius leader hand. No matter how hard you tried, they will always hit. 😂
Someone ask William Shatner how to play this one 😂
He'd hack the scenario I bet
I guess that the man in charge was wearing a red shirt. 😂
Valery Sablin mentioned 🗣🔥
is that a TNO reference?
Oh this brings back the memories from Paper Skies and History of Everything- I was nearly driven insane!

The way you said, "away, away" made me think of Sir Gallahad at the Castle Anthrax.
Absolutely hilarious with the talent meme and the mib mention you got this

Iron bombs seem insanely accurate in this game.
haha, it's rather entertaining to watch the first 2 attempts so far, good work! (I mean, i probably don't want to be your crew, Captain 🙂)
Oh god yes, I've been waiting for you to touch on that for so long
Mod the ship into a kirov, a little bit more likely to succeed
I would say Cruiser Slava should be more then capable of defending herself

Kinda defeats the purpose of a historical reenactment of the real-life event... don't you think?

Assuming direct control and steering help me dodge the bombing run.

if only he had some Gauntlet SAMs lol
Maybe the political officer should have waited to be stationed on a more capable ship before attempting a mutiny...
I think you can guide those missiles like the torpedoes
I like a hard challenge scenario.
Should try it with a better ship like a udaloy
...and at the better time, too. Had he make it 10 years later, he might have had a chance.

@@taiko1237 According to Wikipedia, the Osa has 12km range and the Tor/Kinzhal has 25km range.

That’s just brutal…I look forward to getting good enough to never play that mission

Nice attempts, somehow I think the game overestimates the accuracy of dumb bombs on a moving target. Enjoyed the humorous edits too, nice touch!
Just from watching videos, I also get the impression that the accuracy of dumb bombs is way too high.
LOL I won't even try this one, if you could not do it, i got no confidence in me. 😂
In its latest version it's much easier! Give it a try. YOU HAVE TO INSPIRE THE PEOPLE!
@cent348 ah, nice, but I am real bad at this type of situation, I am more of the encyclopedia reader guy types. But I'll give it a go. Cheers 🍻
Wait what attempt 6???? I only remember you doing one other attempt. Honestly I think another try was in order because 2 wasn’t that many

I was about to ask, I wonder if this influenced Tom Clancy
I just finished the video on the story
The made the scenario easier with the aircraft but that not the end of if
I still couldn't complete first attempt.
I played this mission and did it 1st time albeit with some damage and run out of ammo and missiles
TNO reference
Damage from tiny bombs and missiles is turned up way too high
Also the accuracy with the mig dropping the tiny bombs is unrealistic
Note to self…don’t try this one. 😱
