This is an absolutely fantastic bike. I bought one for my son recently, and based on the quality and spec, had no hesitation going into our local dealer and ordering a Siskiu T8 for myself. Can't wait for it to arrive. The quality of the Xtrada is comparable to any big brand bike, but the components fitted would only be found on one literally more than double the price. (Xtrada is $950ish here in NZ, Specialized or Trek with same components about $2200.)
@@AdrenalineIsLife UPDATE Son is riding a T7 now, and I've replaced a few things on my T8 to suit my likes, it actually needs a paint job to make it look exotic. Best thing though is fitting an SLX chain to replace the KMC ones on all our bikes, makes an incredible improvement to shifting - don't know whether I saw it here or elsewhere, but it's true. Don't know why but it works.
Awesome video! I tried going with the PNW Rainier Gen 3 post in my new Xtrada6, but unfortunately the bottle cage bolts are in the way. I would have to compromise the frame and the warranty. A local bike shop mechanic told me the bolt can be removed and leave a hole with really no good way to seal it. He also said that the 2nd cage bolt would hinder the actuator on the dropper. So I am having to resort to the KS eTen to get the proper fit. I'm interested in your ideas for mods & upgrades so keep these videos coming!
Thanks! The bottle cage mounts are always an issue on these types of bikes. The bigger frames will have a little a little more room than the smaller ones. A short dropper will work just fine for most people as long as they get the seat out of the way. We're going to do some cool upgrades to this bike soon.
I got the PNW Rainer 3 as well but worried about the insertion tube sticking up to high. Is this what you guys noticed as well? I haven’t inserted yet so I can still exchange but I also want something reliable.
Update: i used a 10’ inch metal file on the first bottle cage mount inside the seat tube i sanded it down make it smoother so that the dropper can extend a little bit more. I also got the PNW rainer gen 3 !

Can you provide me with the measurement from the seat tube to the rails of your saddle with your dropper extended? I have an Xstrada 6 as well but I’m worried the dropper post won’t give me the same riding position I have now with the seat up!
I can give you the measurement but I have mine raised slightly. They don't have to be fully slammed. I can measure it fully slammed and you can go from there
With the dropper slammed on a size medium frame from seat collar the rail is about 6.5inches. You can adjust the height from there or purchase a longer or shorter dropper as needed. Hope that helps.
My current saddle height is 230mm / 9.25“ when I normally ride, will the dropper post you have reach that height, or is there another dropper that I can get for the Xtrada 5 that would work for me to get that height (p.s. thanks for taking the time to answer, really appreciate👍)
Hi thank you for the great video. I thought I heard that the dropper post cannot be fully inserted due to a bolt in the seat tube. Did you have any issues with that?
Thanks glad you enjoyed the video! I'm able to insert it all the way down on the size medium frame. It's a 100mm dropper. It's possible that a longer dropper might not but I haven't been able to test that.

Hi I’m new to mountain biking and I’m just about to order my 2021 xtrata 6 and I was wondering if I could get the 120mm of travel that the ks offers. I’m currently 5’5 and I’m purchasing the medium sized bike. First off, would the 120mm fit in the frame of my bike? Second off, is the dropper post able to lock in when it is only partially up or can it only go the full travel. I want to make sure my pedal efficiency with the dropper is at its greatest and I’m wondering if my smaller height will affect anything?
I haven't tried a 120mm. I can slam the 100mm post all the way down without issue. At 120mm worst case it sits up 20mm. Even if 120mm will fit in the frame it may not fit you at your height. I'm 5'9" and 100mm works just fine. I raised it only small amount and I have plenty of clearance. You are at the shorter height for a medium frame. You still have to account for the seat tube height as well. Keep in mind that droppers do not have to be inserted all the way down to the seat collar. You can always dry fit the post first to see if it fits you and exchange for a longer or shorter post if it doesn't. Better to have a shorter post raised up than to struggle with a post that is too long.
Ok thanks I’ll go with the 100mm. Do we need anything to swap the brakes asides from a barb, olive, and a bleed kit (which I see you linked in the description)? Can we reuse the brake hose?
Just curious m, why couldn’t you route the dropper through the left side with the other cable? Since you ended up putting 2 cables through that side anyways?
If you run the cable through same side as the controls there will be too much cable sticking out to snag against things on the trail. If you trim it down, your cables will be too short and will potentially get damaged if the bars rotate too much in a crash.
It's not clear to me why you reroute the rear brake cable. Why not just route the dropper cable through whatever side you want and have it share a grommet with the brake cable?
If you want to save some time and hassle, you can get the appropriate grommets from Bikes Online at the following link. bikesonline-usa.sjv.io/Pyq9Ej I made the job a little harder by making my own. 🤒 But it was a fun exercise. 😃

Big opportunity missed, you should have went with the pnw loam lever. It’s 25 bucks more! Great video however
Thanks! I would have installed a full PNW setup but I wanted to show people a less expensive option.
I’m 5’6” with long legs do you think this dropper would be good for me on this bike? Tall enough?
What's your inseam?
@@AdrenalineIsLife 30inches I think maybe 31
@@mtb_newbie9184 that dropper should work fine.
It's not clear to me why you reroute the rear brake cable. Why not just route the dropper cable through whatever side you want and have it share a grommet with the brake cable?
nice Mtb Nice Ride..
Ride safe paps keep it up
stay safe mga idols have fun🤜🤛A16
Thanks! 🤜🤛
If you want to save some time and hassle, you can get the appropriate grommets from Bikes Online at the following link. bikesonline-usa.sjv.io/Pyq9Ej
I made the job a little harder by making my own. 🤒 But it was a fun exercise. 😃
I bought this bike a few months ago. I saw a previous video were you mentioned you can go tubeless tires. Can you tell me what to I need to do it? or how. Thanks and great content!
I’m planning on doing the hole punch method. Did you have to punch the grommet at the bottom of the down tub and the seat post tube grommet for the dropper cable as well? Thanks!
@@mtb_newbie9184 yes. Those two grommet need punching.
The link doesn't work bud
@bobcat3653 oops, that's an old link. Heres the new one. bikesonline-usa.sjv.io/Pyq9Ej
