"The rap part killed it for me" trust me, every Gorillaz fan thinks this at first, until after enough repeats suddenly something changes in your bioloical makeup
I can attest to that. I am no rap fan (Tull, E.John, Abba, Dark Tranquillity, Infected Mushroom), but this album has a special place in my collection. Listened to this on the car CD player on repeat for weeks. Love it! Plastic Beach too.
I was like that too at one point lol, have never been into rap and never will BUT i have grown to really appreciate and like the rap that Gorillaz include in their songs
please do plastic beach next
Yesss!
I AGREE
Once they hear Empire Ants they’ll know
THIS!!!!!!!!!
@@silentnoiz also rhinestone eyes
Gorillaz is a fictional band, all the vocals and music are done by Damon Albarn (from the band Blur) and a bunch of guest musicians he brings in on every album
Very important to know this when listening to Gorillaz. Damon Albarn is basically the musical genius behind them with vocals and instruments, bringing in other artist. And Jamie Hewlett creates the artwork and story behind the albums.
are we (audience) canon to the Gorillaz lore?
@@anthonyalienz hes basically produces a bunch of people working and creating the songs - less so on the newer stuff except sound machine. if u watch any docs its very much a collab situation
Not fictional, they definitely exist. Virtual band is more accurate lol
@infinityzer054 concerts have linked into their lore before so yea I guess so
RIP to Dave of De La Soul he is the iconic rapper on Feel Good Inc.
Bootie Brown is on Dirty Harry. He was apart of The Pharcyde a 90s westcoast group Known for Passin Me By, Drop, and Runnin
58:43 the way you guy edited it, and the way THAT LIGHT SHINED IN THE WINDOW it made it feel like the sun was rising WITH the song bro. PERFECT 😭😭😭
Thank you my good man :)
23:39 Bro on the right had to check his pulse cause El Manana is that beautiful
Bro every planet we reach is dead is A FUCKING CLASSIC ITS A MASTERPIECE. One of my favorite songs of all time YUHHH
"Every Planet We Reach is Dead" just has something special about it man.
That piano solo fkn takes me out everytime. Such an amazing crescendo and a perfect blend with the rest of the instrumental. There is so much going on musically in that song, so many sounds, instruments etc and it just works perfectly. Probably my favorite song on the record too.
It's the first song that comes to mind when I think of Demon Days.

@@chasetucker322 THE GOAT
Best song on the album.
definitely check out their album Plastic Beach!
I am glad you guys enjoyed one of the greatest albums ever made.
I think you win the prize for the most highly entertaining reaction video I've seen. For it to be on one of my favourite albums (been listening to it for 19 years holy shit), and seeing how much you're all enjoying it, is so fricking amazing. When you went nuts over White Light you made me sooo happy.
yeah, it's definitely meant to be cinematic. the thing about Gorillaz is that every album is a concept album that follows a story (in an abstract way). you can go on a deep dive into Gorillaz lore for HOURS, there's a whole saga that the characters representing the band have been going through since the start.
Plastic beach is needed immediately
Bro said: "he's killin this beat"
MF DOOM righr after: "the beat's got family members asking him for closure"
I find a lot of Gorillaz songs to be kinda "Let them cook". There are some songs that I love from the start but even if I don't like some that much, they tend to grow on me after listening for a while or after few times.
Same. I have that feeling with many bands/artist. If I struggle with the album several times it usually becomes my favorite after having time to digest and really listen to it.
absolutely goated review 😂😂😂😂 you guys are gonna love Plastic Beach. Demon Dayz will forever be my fave Gorillaz album tho & my fave closing arc to any album
Gorillaz is my favorite band, but honestly, when you said these guys touched gold, I think the gold they touched is Danger Mouse.
He produced the entire album and every single track just bleeds his style, just listen to some of his other stuff and you'll know what I mean. Gorillaz and Danger Mouse was a god-tier duo
AKA half of Gnarls Barkley
Danger Mouse is so goated, everything he touches is so good
How the hell have I listened to this album so long and not known Danger Mouse is responsible, I fuckin' love Danger Mouse, his Karen O and DOOM colab albums are so damn GOATed, no wonder.
@@pptemplar5840 once i found out danger mouse was in broken bells i knew why i loved them too
@@pptemplar5840 same here, this came out my sophomore year of hs, been listening to it for 20 years now wtfffffffffffff
this reaction quite honestly made me appreciate the album more, so er good job? i subscribed? please do plastic beach? this was an amazing reaction?? possibly maybe??
another album i feel is in a way similar to demon days is 13 by blur! gorillaz and blur have the same frontman (who also ends up being the mastermind to many blur songs, and all gorillaz songs).
I clicked on this reaction so fast. I hope yall check out some more gorillaz on this channel. A personal favourite is 'Plastic beach' but others like their self-titled album, 'humanz' and 'song machine, season 1: stange timez' all have amazing songs.
love how you guys are getting better at reviewing the songs and the production quality
Appreciate it 😭🙏🏽
The way you guys just lose control and start moving during White Light is exactly how I used to be at 14 in my room listening to it, made feel happy and nostalgic. This album is very special to me.
I love how the single bit of glare appeared just in time for Demon Days it looked planned! I thought they edited it in. Great reaction guys Ill be back for 'Plastic Beach' and maybe if you are looking for newer stuff I think 'Song Machine' is one of their best newer albums.
Maybe one day some radiohead
👀👀

Hot Take but calculated:
Start with In Rainbows album it’s their best
@@user-ge5ug9bd2g I’d say to start with Ok Computer and build up to In Rainbows to keep people around.
You never forget the first time you experience Demon Days. Their first album is still maybe my favorite from them but this album waa insane, on a whole other plane of existence.
yep, first 2 albums are the best
@@cotdd But plastic beach tho... And song machine
Bro its so funny how different the reactions can be to this album. White Light is usually considered the weakest song on the album (I think its underrated) but I smiled so much seeing yall jam out to it
You gotta check out all their albums, newer ones too.
Awesome reaction!! 🎉
you got my sub just from your honesty. Some of those songs that i now love i too once didn't like the start of many of these but giving it the time to evolve really makes for some great music imo
Heyy appreciate the sub and welcome to the playaz review family
The music is good, Damon's vocals superb, but meaning of the songs will come in time, I'm sure you'll play it enough.
@@mannysense3703 reading comprehension :/
I'm so glad to see people discovering and enjoying this album all over again. I LOVED ya'lls reaction when you hit the all-bangers region of the album and just realized.
this album owes so much to danger mouse's production. i don't think gorillaz has ever been so coherent on an album the way they are on this one (i enjoy all of them, though. d-sides is a hidden gem i've been revisiting a lot lately)
I would highly recommend plastic beach it’s in my opinion their best record
Best album of all time
this album is a journey for sure, i have a hard time hearing any song from this album without having the itch to listen to the whole album
edit: love that white light just triggered that party out of no where, thats exactly how i feel every time it comes up
the pause part on dare was hilarious lmao
All alone is so underrated and remains my top gorillaz songs
AMAZING REACT!
Love from Brasil 🇧🇷
It was so great seeing the build up of everyone's reactions throughout the album, it really is such a special and unique experience.
YEAAAAAH GORILLAZ REACTION 🗣🗣🗣🗣💯💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Probably the very best reaction to this album I’ve ever seen! Respect brothers! 🎉🔥
yESSSS yall are gettin into Gorillaz. Honestly any of their albums would be a fire mf listen but Plastic Beach is a must. HUMANZ goes hard asf too
Definitely Plastic Beach next. Gorillaz changed the scene in the 2000s, their first album was very much experimental. With this, they changed the game and created the best genre fusion album ever. Then, they did it again 5 years later. Demon Days is why I’m into so many different styles of music. Unreal.
still waiting for a Bloom from Beach House reaction y’all not gonna regret it 🔥🔥🔥
Every time I replay 'All Alone' I have the privilege of being reminded, just how fucking good that song is.
Also, Gorillaz is one person with tons of featuring artists. The story goes that Damon Albarn the lead singer of a popular British band called Blur was tired of the music being played on MTV, and instead of just compaining about it, he set out to create pop music with a message and a soul.
P.S. the reason it sounds like Arctic Monkeys, is because Arctic Monkeys sound like Blur.
My favorite band! You guys got to keep going down the rabbit hole of Gorillaz. It'll change your perspective of what music can be. Also check out the music videos because they are a huge part of the lore of Gorillaz.
Gorillaz is my favourite band. Their two best albums are Demon Days and Plastic Beach. Although i wanna recomend also their first album "Gorillaz". Excelent reaction really genuine
lmaoo I love how they all just high as shit and zoning out every song
Highly highly highly recommend Plastic Beach by Gorillaz, in my opinion their best album, even more so then this one
Another smasher bro so good
you guys should really look into the lore of the band! incredible story, hopefully it will make u appreciate the albums even more
oh my god, pls more content of gorillaz! ❤
Fire vid! We need plastic beach next for most people that’s on par or better than this album. I can’t pick a favorite between the two
"Every planet we reach is dead" might just be my favorite Gorillaz song.
Yeah gonna need more of this
My RUclips algorithm is absolutely SPOT on with this one.
Damon is a GENIUS
This album is a classic 🤘🏽
Cool
Diamond eyes or white pony by deftones would be a banger reaction. Great vids guys 👊
31:29 yep... that's why is my favorite Gorillaz song
Gorillaz is one musician and one animator. They feature underrated artists to portray other members of the "band". De La Soul, MF Doom, and Del The Funky Homosapien are some of my favourite collabs. they also get celebrities sometimes like having Bruce Willis in a music video and Jack Black in another music video, also Snoop Dogg has been in multiple songs.
The thing that everyone experiences with Gorillaz albums and songs (because everything is so fuckin different from each other) is:
*First listen* "Man, that didn't really do it for me. I miss the old Gorillaz."
*Fifth listen* "Okay, I can vibe with this."
*Twentieth listen* "This is the greatest thing I have ever heard in my life. I am sorry I doubted you, Damon Albarn."
I have experienced this with every singled of their albums hahahaha
😂😂😂 I’ve felt the same way! The most recent album still hasn’t grown on me ☹️
This was my favorite video on youtube. Felt like I was having a listening party with the bros.
I like the way you cut the songs. You give enough to enjoy different parts of the songs and skip some of the repetitive stuff.
Hope you will react to some Trip-Hop soon.
Can't wait for the plastic beach reaction!!!
Please Listen to Plastic Beach by Gorillaz Next!
I have the same opinion!
Niceeeee reaction xd Lets go with plastic beach now pls !!!!!
every gorillaz album is this good, you guys need to get to them
check out plastic beach!!! guarantee you'll love it
The collective head-bobbing during November Has Come is amazing. 😎
One of the best albums in the world.
LET’S GOOOO!!
Gorillaz collaborated with Peggy on Song Machine. Yall should react to that album.
Random recommendation but you guys should check out Cocteau Twins' "Heaven or Las Vegas". Its a very dreamy and ethereal album, I feel like you guys would love it.
YES YES YES YES YESS THISS!!!!
5:40 Kids with guns is so like Song number 2 by Blur, cause Gorillaz's frontman is also Blur's frontman
The vocalist who does 2D is also the vocalist in Blur
This reaction of you was awesome. If you enjoyed this album you must listen to Plastic Beach, a 10/10 Album.
veteran gorillaz listener but one of my favorite tracks is fire coming out of the monkeys head. it's like a little break from the madness and its a great story
This shit so good my mans even stopped rating lol
Everyone says to go forward. Nah you need to go back man. Thr OG Gorrillaz album is a certified classic
I really think yall gonna love humanz
also you guys gotta do exmilitary by death grips
They gotta watch that interview where Damon explained how he made some of the beats.
Yall ain’t ever heard this. Love it
I remember riding like, 6 years old Bumping that album with my mah
YES
I got this album when it dropped when I was 9 and I’d probably be a different person if I didn’t. Just constantly chasing the same high from music.
Can you guys also do the original gorrilaz album?
FUCK YES DEMON DAYSSSS! The song itself is an all time favorite of mine. Maybe check out The Avalanches, Bonobo, or Massive Attack if you want somewhat similar experiences sonically.
46:50 yo, this is my jam
Demon Days is one of the greatest endings to an album ever.
All Alone is the best track
The white light is what you see when you die from drinking too much alcohol...
You need to try some trip hop! Please do Massive Attacks Mezzanine album!
If you want more music that makes you see things in your head you definitely have to listen to Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. Its a timeless album that 3 generations of my family have listened to.
LEEETTTSS GOOOOOO
Pls react plastic beach!!! From gorillaz
DO MORE GORILLAZ BRUH YOU GOTTA 🔥🔥🔥
Yes.
You guys know that song that goes "WOO HOO"... It's the same guy
Try cibo matto's viva la woman. If you liked the triphop feel thats the way to go
nice
Plastic beach is also amazing
Please please please do plastic beach 🙏🙏🙏
Yes pls
i'd check out the lcd soundsystem albums
