When I played Watch Dogs Legion, I heard Feel Good Inc. By Gorrilaz and I was like "WTF wait they put the song too yoo" that blow my mind gotta admit that's a banger no doubt.
I wish you would’ve talked more about the features and collaborations your father would’ve been surprised how many artist he knew like Ike Turner and Dennis Hopper
Every Planet We Reach Is Dead is such an underrated banger on this album. Its just one of those songs that just makes you say "WTF" out loud. The Piano and the whole instrumentation in the end is one of the craziest things i have ever heard. Glad you showed your dad this album. Self-titled Gorillaz is a must-do as well :)
This video is a great example of what makes this channel such a good idea. Gorillaz have such an immensely unique vibe and it was great to see the reaction from someone who never heard their music before
So, this entire album was made as a commentary on the post 9/11 world, taking a more apocalyptic approach. El Mañana was supposed to depict a person who was high on drugs as he witnessed the towers falling. Every song is so deliberate in its lyrics, with El manana being the moment that the world ends, with each song after talking on the repricussions in the world, or how different people tried to cope/drown out the world. Brilliant concept
I disagree with this somewhat. I don't remember anybody having this view of the album. As far as I have seen from listening to it over and over for 20 years, plus everyone elses depiction. The album is commenting on the overconsumption of drugs. Coming from a dark place of addiction. "Don't get lost in heaven" speaking about the general sins of humanity, or the idea of overdosing on a drug that makes you feel extremely good. I think its just drug commentary on the breakdown of society
This is one of my "if I was stuck on an island and could only bring a few records" album. It's just so good. I regularly listen to Gorillaz when making my art (them and Tame Impala are some of my getting in the flow state bands) I had a huge crush on Damon Albarn as a teen and loved *Blur in the 90s, haha. But, damnit if he hasn't become more talented and better looking with age. Gorillaz is in a league of its own. The melancholic haunting feeling of each song is entrancing. He is truly brilliant and an absolute musical genius. *I'm sure Mike Sr has heard of Blur, he couldn't have missed it. When the British invasion came back again in the 90s- I'm just guessing since I'm pretty sure at 47 I'm closer to his age :) Shoutout to us "olds"😂
Danger Mouse was on production..then he went on to produce The Mouse and The Mask with DOOM, teamed up with Cee Lo Green to form Gnarls Barkley and last year did an incredible album with Black Thought called Cheat Codes..you guys really need to check that one out
Please react to the Norman F***ing Rockwell album by Lana Del Rey! She is such a great artist and lyricist and she’s inspired so many other artists like Billie and Olivia!
such a thoughtful commentary! i love that you guys hit some of their musical influences dead-on. also, i feel like danger mouse's production cannot be praised enough here the end note of this one used to seem weak to me until i saw the last 2 tracks performed live (like a lot of this band's material, even better in-person) and realized they're basically a functional handover/tribute to the backing vocalists who did such amazing work for them
Great video. It's pronounced Al-bahrn like a barn. Also, interesting to note, back in the day it was unknown who was behind the Gorillaz project and it was kept a mystery with many people being speculated to be the singers/songwriters but eventually people figured it out and Damon Albarn Just eventually started putting himself out there as the creator. Your dad seems to like de la soul. You should do three feet high and rising!
Also a lot of people don't realize that he's also the singer for a band called blur the main guy who's singing in these so yeah it was pretty cool I think they're also from the UK specificly Whitechapel, London and also he dosnt seem this old but hes 56😊
Great video, amazing album. You did realize the narrator on ‘Fire coming out of a monkey’s head’ is Dennis Hopper? (I mean, the list of collaborators on these albums is crazy; that’s what Damon is a master at). Just the pure concept of art and music interweaving this well (it’s 50% Jamie Hewlett, who does all the visuals and animation, the artist that also illustrated Tankgirl amongst many others) is amazing to me. And yet it never get’s too ‘perfectionist’.
You might like Lovage “Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By” from Dan Nakamura aka half of Handsome Boy Modelling School, the album has Mike Patton & Jennifer Charles on vocals with a few guests including Damon Albarn strewn about
Plastic beach is amazing u should check it out! just like demon days you can’t predict the next song and has some of the most beautiful songs(In my opinion)
Don't get lost in heaven is good, but it's much better when you play it and demon days together without any pause between them. Dglih leads into demon days, you gotta feel them together. that last AAAAAAAaaaahhhhh as the music turns into demon days is fucking transcendent. That'll turn you to the sun.
In Dare it’s not Damon’s vocals, the lead singer in Dare is a female vocalist who’s playing the character Noodle. While Damon plays 2d in the other songs.
Damon's voice is very far back throughout the "noodle" falsetto parts of the song if you listen very closely. But yh the main vocals is the female singer
Multiple coyotes are called a pack, a group of gorillas in the wild are called a band. 🤯
What the hell how did I not know this
A group of owls is called a parliament
Plastic Beach is a must after this! Especially since your pops mentioned Lou Reed
Ran to the comments when he said Lou reed
When I played Watch Dogs Legion, I heard Feel Good Inc. By Gorrilaz and I was like "WTF wait they put the song too yoo" that blow my mind gotta admit that's a banger no doubt.
Damn I forgot that game came out
I wish you would’ve talked more about the features and collaborations your father would’ve been surprised how many artist he knew like Ike Turner and Dennis Hopper
Just a heads up, Damon Albarn does the music but Jamie Hewlett does the visual/story related stuff. Fantastic album and one of my all time favorites.
And he also searches for new producers for most albums. For Demon Days for example it’s Dangermouse who makes the production

I like at 29:21 she says to close your eyes. And y’all follow directions
I noticed that exact moment too 😂

Ive never heard this clear of description of the concept before. Thank you
The El Manana MV is actually blocked in North America because of it.

@@TheLozfan1000art is subjective
@@TheLozfan1000 It call Demon Days, because the days where the world is in tension feel like Demon Days, like actual days
Demon Days is my favorite Gorillaz album
NOVEMBER HAS GONE, is pretty much about how the election process never changes anything in the hood. New leadership, same lifestyle.
Wish you noted that the rapper Trugoy The Dove on Feel Good Inc. sadly passed away recently. He was a member of De La Soul.
Just hearing you and your father talking about this album gives me so much joy!!! Damn, you have a cool Dad!!!

I know for a fact that your dad will dig Plastic Beach so much!
You must react to plastic beach now. It's a must
I know you're going to do Plastic Beach. Please do Song Machine too.
Danger Mouse was on production..then he went on to produce The Mouse and The Mask with DOOM, teamed up with Cee Lo Green to form Gnarls Barkley and last year did an incredible album with Black Thought called Cheat Codes..you guys really need to check that one out
I’m glad to see you actually had him react to this! It’s cool to see someone actually pay attention to their comments during a premier
Stoppppp I’m so excited to watch this! Love this album so much, so happy you picked it:)
Bit of trivia for you.. AJ Tracey (popular UK rapper) was a part of the choir that performed Dirty Harry live at the 2005 Brit Awards
Please react to the Norman F***ing Rockwell album by Lana Del Rey! She is such a great artist and lyricist and she’s inspired so many other artists like Billie and Olivia!
have y'all done any Ween? Quabec is my favorite album of theirs and would blow your dad away
Sadly, MF Doom passed away on October 31 2020, so sadly November didn't come to him. RIP MF Doom.
Still waiting for that achtung baby album review 😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨

Dude, you mentioned how much of a genius Damon Albarn is, please tell me you've heard his work with Blur. It's a whole other world of material.
Can you make reaction for conan gray superache album for the next video

Need another dad's album video
You might like Lovage “Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By” from Dan Nakamura aka half of Handsome Boy Modelling School, the album has Mike Patton & Jennifer Charles on vocals with a few guests including Damon Albarn strewn about
Not to mention he helped produce the debut Gorillaz album, love that Lovage record some of the lyrics are hilarious
turn yourself around to the sun!! ☀️
When it comes to gorillaz, you HAVE to let your dad know the features. Theres alot of legends on this album.
Loved this reaction. Keep it up.
999
Everytime after i listened to Damon (Blur or Gorillaz), must listen to The Smiths after lol
Plastic beach is amazing u should check it out! just like demon days you can’t predict the next song and has some of the most beautiful songs(In my opinion)
I think when you have to compare something with more than 2 things, It's its own thing...
Please react to Lewis Capaldi’s first album!!!!! I think your dad will be blown away
Please react to Raye's album. "My 21st Century Blues" she is so underrated ...
YESSSS!!!! Classic album. We now need a reaction to every Gorillaz album. Sorry I don’t make the rules
This was such a fun episode

The feature on feel good inc just died. He was part of the group De La Soul, his name was Trugoy the Dove.
