I would love to see some more experienced pilots running some side alpha accounts and seeing what kind of trouble everyone can get into. It is an excellent way to have content without big expensive boats.
Cyclone is a solid ship when fit properly for the situation, both alpha and omega can turn the tide of a fight if they try hard enough.
But should you start off as Caldari for those missile skills to not be short on skill points.
The Cyclone is what got me my 1st omega and kept me an omega pilot, I use to have like 120k hp and more than 750+ hot dps while using Large shield booster, soloing T10 anomalies but not able to finish scouts and inquisitors fast, especially that BSs with webs well be almost impossible to get since I didn't use a microwarpdriver or an afterburner, but the Cyclone got me per bounty between 5 m isk and 8 m isk.

Using the Welcome Back pack nanocore on a Hurricane Prototype, my alpha has 729 cold dps on paper with 3 gyros and 17km falloff. Still missing 1 level in med cannon upgrade and 4/5 drone skills so can go higher.
It does advanced news encounters in 6mins in Claralam (explo hole).

I would actually swap all the tank rigs for dps and try to get better highslots for max dmg, I'm pretty sure a highsec mission is not too hard to tank
Pretty interesting video Cpt. I do feel Alpha players are kind of neglected - I do hope one day skill restrictions are raised to maybe advanced? I can see Netease wants to make money but if people are hooked in perhaps they'll upgrade their clone.

I love the cyclone! I’ve had one for a long time and have had a lot of fun flying it. I just hope that the game gets a little more love to make it worthwhile to get back into the game

Honestly with the introduction of salvage drones I feel that the myrmidon would also be a good alpha friendly ship. I used to run a myrmidon with the classic missile/drone combo and it handled quite well in situations. Gotta have decent skills of course (at least lvl 5 in missiles and medium drones)
Drone ships are your worest option because the dps depends on the ship bonus like nothing else in the game. The myrmidon itself does 2.5 times of the drone dps with it, thats a big no for alpha players.

What is the point of the large rapid? Its lower dps than the medium torps and wastes an engineering slot to fit it?
Ive been playing since launch and i play exclusively on Hi-sec... By this point i can guarantee to make 1 mil a day and worked myself till i got a Harbinger prototype which of course i chose out of preferance... But the fact that i can get to 150 mil isk as f2p gives a lot of freedom to do other things with it

I tried it out. My alpha skills are apparently better than what you used. First time my dps was higher with the same fitting 😂
Looking at the numbers from those medium torps, with the alpha skills, it seems like that large rapid is a little redundant. It churns out less dps than the medium torps on this toon
@@captainbenzie partly, but also because of your medium skills & no large skills.
I’ve forgotten & probably wrong here, but am I right in thinking large weapon skills are locked to tech level 8?…. Which would mean using all medium torps would be the best dps output here, regardless of what meta lvl modules you are using
@@captainbenzie yeah fitting them is alpha T7, but what about skills?
@@captainbenzie and that is slightly incorrect - mk9 large rapids are locked to T9. But meta-5 (i.e gallows) are available at T7
@@captainbenzie yeah as I thought. So with basic medium missile skills at 5, you actually do more dps with 6 medium torpedos than if you fitted 5 medium torpedos & a large rapid. You might as well just fit all medium torps, save the PG and rig for targeting speed or cap instead
can alpha characters use nanocores? cause a basic one could help a lot
I am wondering the best ship with either missiles or cannons (what i have highest focus trained) to use that can make quick and easy work in the hard encounters. those t7-t9 ones. Mainly the ones paying out a few million isk as a reward. Isk isn't an option, just the quickest and best all around to accomplish this.
I currently have an Orthrus at 1005 dps and in the 4.5 million encounters i have to wrap away, repair and return. this results in a negative profit cause of the repair.
Depends on your own tech level, what areas you're flying in etc. Sadly, Battleships will forever be the best option. Machariel, Apocalypse Striker, Vindicator.
@@captainbenzie I am tech9 headed to t10 in 146 days. I think i have lvl5 missle basic and advanced. need to work on third tier. I don't mind grabbing a BS but never used one before. I am used to speed frigate ratting or pvp. Cruiser Orthrus the same way with a micodrive and going 2400kms.
Still i am finding this won't work on the higher payout encounters. Any recommendations?
@@EC-ht5og MWD is a bad idea for trying to speed tank. The increase to SigRadius is bigger than the speed boost. You're easier to hit with it on than without it at all.
@captainbenzie ok on the orthrus I will change that down to a thruster. I must admit the mwd helped when the rats have my warp scrambled. I couldn't warp but my speed was fast enough to pull away and then be able to warp out.
I do run a mwd on my garmur cause they can't hit me at 3400 m/s at 12km
Did they rebalance this ship? I have tons of powergrid left with none of those engineering rigs.
I've done this on an alpha clone with low skills.

@@captainbenzie definitely does... I had 200 mill isk laying around and enough skillpoints to complete the build! do you have an alpha clone isk making guide to go with this? mostly because im broke now and i wouldn't dare hit lowsec with this and my current skill level

@@captainbenzie Ya, I did not quite catch that. I was going to go off about with all my Alpha experience that I think the best PvE ship is the Navy Executor. 500+dps out to some 20km. Strong tank. Nibble for a Cruiser. For the price, its better then any BC. I also play in LS, and I think Navy Cruiser ships are less likely to be hunted down over the slower BC, lest in my experience.

The Cyclone is a great omega ship let along alpha. T7 is fantastic as is the whole family line. Ended my Echoes career in the T10 Cyclone, and considered running the T7 as alpha for a time after I decided to stop rewarding Netease, but just quit entirely. All Cyclones are boss, especially the super cheap T7.

If you have laser skills and high capacitor skills, sure
Also, Harby Proto has better DPS on paper, but higher skill requirements by a long shot to be able to actually apply that as effectively.
Myrmidon is the best non omega ship
