I drive a 2000 F250 6.8L V10. I have 225,000 miles and have had very few repairs. I get 12 mpg empty, between 6-10 mpg loaded. The $10,000 dollars cost for the diesel and much more expensive oil changes easily offset the lower mpg.
The v10 isn't really that bad on fuel. It's in one of my main work trucks. On the other hand my 2015 F350 6.9 diesel gets around 13 highway and 8-10 city with the trailer loaded. Sometimes as low as 6 mph city loaded. Save the money and buy a truck with gas engines.

There’s a reason they are still used today in bigger trucks. This engine has heavy aftermarket potential for today standards as a truck ^_^
I posted here because people should see what’s good and bad with the engine, the dude in the vid didn’t really cover the most common issues as far as I could hear.
Had my V10 19 years , still drive it , I LOVE MY 250 , changed radiator , and water pump only because I had the front end wide open and changed the thermostat ................. THAT'S IT , I LOVE MY TRUCK .
My 1999 F-250 XLT V-10 4X4 Auto gets 12-16 depending driving conditions. I got 285,870 out of my first motor without serious issues. I spent $3200 on my new motor and also replaced all bearings and sills on 4x4 trans for another $500 so for $3700 I have a new motor and trans and the trucks runs super great again without issues. I now have just over 16,110 miles on both new units. No issues here.life is good,...In The Wind.
I love ford and I love triton motors because of how capable they are.... they’re basically pre-gen coyote motors really... but I hate the 6.4 power stroke. It’s a money pit.

Have a 2000 and 2003. My husband swapped the 2000 y pipe and exhaust to the 2003 using the larger pipe and gained 4 mpg at the end of the tank! Also replaced the exhaust manifold gaskets and studs. Big difference in performance!
There is a gas deduction... Thank God. So it looks like I won't go broke from buying gas for my Ford 7.5l v8 since I got a job and my parents won't buy gas for it anymore.
So, that means your getting $2,500 back after spending $10,000 for gas. Do you understand that you still need to work that extra time to buy the gas? You are NEVER getting YOUR money back. You are getting a PORTION of YOUR money back. Money that YOU worked to make. Are you the type that of a tax refund as winning the lottery? Because you overpaid your taxes in the first place.
Personally I love the V10. We have a few at work. My favorite truck out of all our Fords, even including brand new ones. My favorite one in the fleet is a 2008 f250 V10 rwd. We pull an 8,000 lbs trailer every day, and it pulls better than the newer 6.2.
I’m a Ford enthusiast and I’ve had so many Fords it’s unbelievable. I’ve also had plenty of Chevrolet’s and A Dodge, and I’ve driven more trucks than most people have seen their entire lives but the 6.8 V10 is in my opinion the second most reliable engine available. It’s very close with the 460. I have an 03 F-350 with the V10 and it is a strict work truck because of the fuel and the way it’s geared. It does nothing but tow or haul on a daily basis. I have never had a problem out of it. My dad bought a 2000 Ford Excursion brand new with the V10 and it has over 300,000 miles and still runs as strong as it did the day he bought it. The only thing he’s ever had to do to it other than general maintenance is put an alternator on it. It’s been all over the U.S. and he still uses it to this day as a work horse. He prefers it over his diesel which has given him many problems one right after the other. If that truck is making you money, you’re using it properly. Take it from me, the V10 is a damn good motor and if you service it regularly it will last.
We've got a 2019 F-450. Bare bones with a dump bed, 6.8L and the 6spd auto. And this thing is a beast, we work it to death, but I'm lucky to average 6 MPG. The real upside is maintenance and parts being cheaper than with a diesel engine.
I'd buy that V10 any day of the week. Never known for great gas mileage, but 6mpg is even way out of the norm for the 6.8. I would definitely be trying to find what the problem is there.
@Ron Johnson Sure sure. Got it. You are in love with mopar. I have 0 brand loyalty, but please post some stats and non-anecdotal evidence to support the statement.
I have 455k on my 2001 v10 f250 use it every single day for my lawn & landscaping company.. Never had it serviced .. had the truck since 200k mile range
This is why you research the purchase. That being said, the extra power can come in handy for mulch topsoil etc that causes heavy load. Over an XLT is overkill imo.
I still love a good old work truck. Nice video and you speak the truth on the whole work truck deal. Everyone wants to pull their mowing trailer with a big 4x4 diesel. I would rather ditch the trailer and drive a Isuzu npr to be honest
I have a 99 F250 super duty 4x4 4 door v-10 with an 8 inch lift running 35’s I get 14mpg with an aftermarket exhaust. But if I put my foot into it at 70-75 mph I get 10 mpg without my 23ft toy-hauler. I have room for 6 people or 4 large men comfortably . My towing mpg drops to 6-10mpg but a lot of that depends on how I drive or am I pulling big mountain roads in Colorado. If I am pulling a trailer on the flats I get 10 mpg all day every day and twice on Sunday. And yes there’s always a Chevy or a Dodge Cummins guy who is going to make some negative comments. I have no issues with my super duty and I’d recommend anybody to buy one.
Always loved the old work trucks that you didn’t have to worry about messing up. As long as they are reliable when you’re out trying to get work done on a daily basis.
I have driven an ‘08 f-350 with the gasoline V10 at my job. It’s getting about 4-5 MPG, since we mostly use it to pick up trash, which involves a lot of idling.
Exactly! When it's time to head camping, I get giddy and wouldn't even care if the MF'r got negative miles to the gallon..I'll get there safe and swiftly.
hey cool dude..your the coolest..ever wonder what a 460 ford mpg is?..ever wonder what a chevy 454 or 492 mpg is? or the mpg on a 440 dodge is?..torque cost money..simple as that..if you want economy and cool get a scooter..
Come on man, if you didn't realize the V10 was a gas hog then you didn't do any homework. Since you didn't, stop whining. I have a 2000 F-350 4x4 crew cab. My ONLY gripe is the small fuel tank. This truck pulls out 28' toy hauler (fully loaded), with the second CanAm Maverick Trail on a rack in the bed, and it performs exactly as advertised. MPG, about 8, but I knew that going in. When I clicked to watch this I thought there was going to be some good information imparted, Nope, just a guy whining about poor mileage. What a waste of time.
WOW- My 36' Tiffin Motorhome with four slides, weighing in at nearly 25K pounds while pulling a truck that weighs just over 5K pounds gets nearly 7 mpg with the V10! I think that's good considering the gas engine is pulling over 30K pounds with better mileage than your truck with the same engine. I won't complain.
I am looking at a Winnebago 30ft with 3 slides. Can you tell me what if any problems you've had withe engine? Does you have the six speed tranny too? Thanks
A lot of people don't love the 6.8 V10? News to me buddy. That thing is legendary in reliability. When you're saving tremendous amounts on upfront costs and maintenance over a diesel, fuel economy is negligible - it's cheaper in the long run. Title applies to like 10% of the video - too much rambling.
Fantastic engines, at work we had one v10 go to 480 thousand kms and it ran 12 to 14 hours a day all winter and sometimes the same in the summer over a period of 12 years or so
2001 F350 cab chassis 6.8 v10 434,000 all that has been done is normal service maintenance, radiator , heater core , alternator and coil packs once . Oil stays between full and add don't use a bit of oil . But used high zinc race vr1 since new . Truck always starts best truck I have owned. But yes it is a gas hog.
Be grateful that gas is under 2 dollars a gallon. Drove it till the wheels fall off and enjoy the power. You can always adjust prices for gas if need be.
One of the things you probably *love* about the truck is the train-like torque of the V10. I have had many trucks and my V10 excursion is my favorite. My 2-Axle car hauler with a 5000lb tractor on it doesn’t phase it. Room for 8 people is nice too. The V10 is a quirky engine, but a great engine when maintained properly.
I have the 2000 Excursion with this V10 and paid $6,800 for it. Amazing condition and I love it. No issues, 208,000 miles, no spark plug or coil issues, and I get 13-14 mpg on the highway when keeping around the speed limit. In town I’m around 10.5-11 mpg. Great engine. Now I’m looking for a 4x4 F350 with the same engine.
That v10 was Ford's workhorse. I've had a 2001 v10 6.8L that after years of poor gas mileage, replaced the exhaust system with short headers, raised the carb, removed the cat-covert, and now, I can get up to 18mpg. I have pulled a T250 bobcat(8500lbs) on a trailer(4000lbs) for over 400,000 miles and it's still strong and working!!! I Love this truck! 15 years of No Payment!!! Work Truck!
My Dad always had a Ford Diesel for a company truck but wouldn’t get one personally because of all the maintenance. He bought him a 98 Dodge with the V10 instead of the Ford V10. The Ford Dealer told him that Ford V10’s where having issues at the time. Only problem with the Dodge V10 the heads weren’t made right & coolant was getting into the engine oil. It was still under warranty & got it fixed. It now has 76,000 miles on it & mostly used for towing.
I drive my utility truck f350 v10 2003 every day I got it with 170k miles For $3000 this f350 is one of the most strong ones I ever have I drive 15 miles to work every day so 30 a day that's about 3-4 gallons. 16 dollar at day no bad to drive it every day it does the job so ......I'm happy with mine.
If you get 6 miles to the gallon you have something wrong with that truck. Should be in the low teens mpg doing lawn care work. Unless your towing a 10-14K lbs and they still don't drop mpg that bad.
Our local water department used to have F350 chassis cab's, both 6.0/6.4 PSD diesel and 6.8L V10's. The guys loved the V10's, the gas money wasn't coming out of their pockets though. Said they had really good power. I have a '15 Ram 2500 reg cab, 6.4L Hemi, 4x4, 4.10 gears. I get 15/16 mpg highway, about 10 to 12 mpg around tow and about 7/8 mpg plowing. I knew the gas mileage when I bought it, so I'm wasn't shocked at all.
I have an old 93 Chevy 1500. 204,000 miles with the v6, absolutely rotted away. That thing is so fun. You mash on the gas when you’re at a stoplight and then let go and it backfires, I love it. It’s fun because you don’t have to give a crap about it
Westland Landscape in Kansas City has one that’s a 2010 f350 Crew cab long bed v10 that’s red also and that truck is constantly towing trailers and plowing snow. There’s does great I see it all the time.
In 2005 I bought my 2001 f250 xl super duty 4×4 reg.cab no frills only has a/c no cruise no power windows or d.locks , had 89,800 miles on it and had been in an accident hit on right side at the wheel but straight and repairsd . Only took 6-7 months and it started making a ticking sound (kinda like a ticking lifter sound, lol. I found the culprit though, exhaust manifold studs had sheared off just inside the bolt hole in the aluminum cyl. head. Thus began my research into the 6.8l v-10. After some internet chat rooms and other posts about the same issue(which appears to be a v-10 recurring problem) I researched a permanent fix . One guy sourced headers and drilled and extracted the broken studs out and replaced them. Exactly fo the month a year later = Boom same problem w/ studs shearing off = OUCH ! So in my research I found out that Banks makes a total exhaust system upgrade the Went "PowerPack" and it has all the hardware NO Studs BOLTS 😄 . It came Stainless Steel and mandrel bent . Bolt on for the most part and upgraded mileage and power. I got it and went into surgery( if you will) . Not much room to work ,I had 11 of 12 broken inside head. I ain't and wasn't rich and I was trying to avoid removing the heads on the big Triton . I had some help but it was tedious at times. Used a lot of craftsman bolt extractors. But I got finished and haven't looked back. It was some BS but it sounds Totally BEASTLY great tone doesn't sound like some other header v-10's . Also changed coil packs w Accel packs and installed E3 plugs the Power Pack came w/ a upgraded RechargeableAir Filter(k&n). 14mpg avg. W/ the snow plow off. But Has more Power at the wheel. No Issues ! Thanks BANKS Power . And it's still running badass and my driver. Mileage Will Always SUCK it's a FORD Triton , lmao .... Hope this share will help someone else.
They probably did something wrong when they replaced the engine in yours if you're getting 6mpg. My all original 2002 V10 excursion gets 13 to 14mpg if driven right and 8mpg towing 10k pounds.
My 04 2v is an absolute hoss. It does everything I have ever asked except to get good gas mileage. Cheap and easy maintenance. The only problem they have is maintenance. I get 13.2mpg with a heavy old flatbed, it's a work truck and it doesn't go more than 300miles from at most, usually stay within 50 miles gas is negligible because it's always making money
I drove a 2006 Ford Excursion, and it had the V-10 engine. I went cross-country in this with my family, and as long as I kept the RPM's at, or below 2,000, I was getting about 15 mpg.
Part time Lawn care idk I just find those numbers super unlikely. The best way to check is to fill your tank to the max, set your trip meter, drive for a quarter or half a tank, full your tank to the max again, and check the mpg. I know in my dad’s 7.3 we can never get over 20 empty (but it is a 97). I also believe Canadian gallons are different than U.S gallons, something like that. Some places have different measurements or something.
My brother drove an Eco-boost across Canada pulling a 11000 pounds gooseneck trailer and he did as good milage per gallons as the big diesel F-350 His company still own and drive that pickup to this day, The turbo was replace once and it was the only thing they had with the engine and that engine as as much torque as a V-10
I had a 2000 f250 V10 and it would pass everything but a gas station, but it was bulletproof and a work horse if you know that you'll be fine, I would not hesitate to buy another one for work.
You get like 18 if you drive it right, v10s are one of the best engines out there. That's why Ford still puts them out even though everyone bags on them
Have an 09 and a 2010 v10. 400,000 and 350,000 miles respectively. Both pull a trailer 100 percent of the time. Get between 9 and 10.5 mpg. Oil changes every 10k miles. Can't beat them.
This video put things in perspective for me. I had a nice 2001 F150 crew cab that i stupidly lost in a title pawn several years ago(of course i pawned it for less than it was worth) i still have my OBS Silverado that my deceased father put together for me. It needs minor stuff like interior, but runs like a top. He used a carbed 350 engine i had bought for a different vehicle, so it’s not the original fuel injected vortec 350 anymore. Had been getting the itch for a Super Duty truck, but I don’t need it. Im a long haul trucker, the money i would spend on another pickup would be better spent on buying my first semi(used of course) and getting everything road ready on it, so i can actually make money for myself, instead of making trucking companies wealthier. New Subscriber earned. God Bless.
I have a 2001 f250 with the v10 and I get 11 mpg and I love mine bought it brand new and it has 230,000 miles only problem I ever it blew out a spark but I never intend to get rid of mine
I have a 2014 F250 6.7 Powerstroke Platinum and I am looking for a regular cab work truck for landscaping because I want to have a 8 foot bed so I can put a dump insert in it. My dad keeps telling i'm gonna like the work truck better than my Platinum.
Yep ... just bought a 2009 4X4 350 V-10 plain Jane, nothing power, rubber floor, the dust and mud wipes right out ... my mountain truck ... averaging about 10 miles per gallon without hauling. Well said, my friend. No payments!
I have a 28 ft class c motorhome with v 10. I flat tow a ford ranger behind us. I get 10 to 11 mpg all the time granted I don’t push it hard or go over 65 or mileage can drop 2 mpg if I get on it. This v10 if you keep on oil changes up to date they will run without issues a long time.
I spoke to a guy that runs the v10 and the diesel both f250 and he said he prefers the v10. He pulls a heavy load behind both and has had more problems with the diesel
you make me love my recent 2008 F350 purchase.... $10K 343,000 miles, well taken care of with regular oil changes and still runs like a beast and the 6MPG ordeal? well, I have your same feeling! I don't feel pulling my tractor and trailer... it's great and hopefully it lasts many years!!!
I have a 1999 ford f350 dually and it's a pig with gas but it can pull a 6000lb trailer like it's nothing. It drives really well for a dually, almost better than my half ton pickup.
If you want good mileage, buy a diesel Mercedes Sprinter pickup truck (or something like it), or a van if you don't need the open bed. They're used for anything from hauling mulch from the municipal service, to tools/generators and a little trench digger on a trailer, for glass fibre installation companies. More loading capacity? Buy an Iveco van-truck chassis and get a carosserie builder to put your bed of choice onto it. They are available with air brakes, and are commonly used to haul car trailers. 1 car on the van itself, 2 on a trailer.
"a lot of people don't love this engine." All I have ever heard about those engines is how reliable they are. He's worried about fuel mileage in his work truck he uses to tow. Wait till he gets a new truck and finds out that fuel economy has changed much.
Put a 3:73 gear in and keep your right foot in the cab. The V-10 has plenty of torque to use a high speed rear end. Mine's a 2000 model F-350 2wd w/3:73 locker Gets 14 to15 mpg @ 55mph no load Goes almost as well as 4wd
this guy sounds like he absolutely has no idea what he is talking about and clearly knows nothing about the 6.8L. i couldn't even make it past 2min30sec
I have a 2005 Colorado standard cab work truck and love it! Paid for and it gets it done for me. Plus, I can work on it and actually fix it. I can't imagine 6 mpg..... keep truckin Big Blake!
I had a 15' F450 6.7 diesel, got pretty good mileage but fuel bill was still high... But just bought a new 18' Isuzu gas, gas mileage is lower per gallon but the cost of fuel and maintenance is a lot lower.
I was getting the same mpg then put new plugs coil packs and pcv valve and now I’m getting 14 mpg
V10s are really fun to drive tho I couldn’t agree more and the sound is really cool too.
If anything get a 2016 f350 6.2 them things will do anything you want.

There’s a point where everyone cares. You can’t say it never matters.
Put a Corolla in the back as a spare. You won't even know it's there.

I drive a 2000 F250 6.8L V10. I have 225,000 miles and have had very few repairs. I get 12 mpg empty, between 6-10 mpg loaded. The $10,000 dollars cost for the diesel and much more expensive oil changes easily offset the lower mpg.
Same thing the guy I asked told me
More expensive oil changes, yeah, but you need to do them less frequently.
Whit Kern bit really. 5k oil changes and 3x the amount of oil then gas. Filters are more to.
Also, new diesels are garbage with all epa crap. Doesn't matter what brand.

That engine is pretty relaible my dad has a 99 f350 dually v10 2wd and starts every time no problems with almost 300 000 miles ans has never been opend to be repaird.it might be a thirsty engine but relaible.that truck has been in our fam for 19 years
Have a 2000 and 2003. My husband swapped the 2000 y pipe and exhaust to the 2003 using the larger pipe and gained 4 mpg at the end of the tank! Also replaced the exhaust manifold gaskets and studs. Big difference in performance!
Get a performance exhaust system, remove those mud tires and bro rims. Then, you'll get better MPGs.
It'll get 6.1 mpg instead of 6
Gas = tax deduction.....put your $ in the tank or send it to the gooberment and let them squander it
Exactly people complain about fuel but it's a tax deduction lol
There is a gas deduction... Thank God. So it looks like I won't go broke from buying gas for my Ford 7.5l v8 since I got a job and my parents won't buy gas for it anymore.
So, that means your getting $2,500 back after spending $10,000 for gas.
Do you understand that you still need to work that extra time to buy the gas?
You are NEVER getting YOUR money back. You are getting a PORTION of YOUR money back. Money that YOU worked to make.
Are you the type that of a tax refund as winning the lottery? Because you overpaid your taxes in the first place.
This dude is all over the place, Talks to much and says nothing
Tough
Personally I love the V10. We have a few at work. My favorite truck out of all our Fords, even including brand new ones. My favorite one in the fleet is a 2008 f250 V10 rwd. We pull an 8,000 lbs trailer every day, and it pulls better than the newer 6.2.
My 2000 f250 v10 gets 8mpg but it’s the most reliable truck I have ever owned , I’ve had it for a year now and it’s never broke down
I have a 2000 f350 4x4 with the v10. With 328,000 miles on it. Id buy mine again. It'll pull anything anywhere. I get 13 mpg.
UNREAL what was I thinking clicking on this MADNESS
20 bucks says he is a virgin any takers
The moment he started explaining what a raptor was, video lost all credibility and went down hill from there.....
I agree….. definitely v6 muscle car vibes from this dude…..
I'd buy that V10 any day of the week. Never known for great gas mileage, but 6mpg is even way out of the norm for the 6.8. I would definitely be trying to find what the problem is there.
@Ron Johnson Sure sure. Got it. You are in love with mopar. I have 0 brand loyalty, but please post some stats and non-anecdotal evidence to support the statement.
i have 17 buses all with that same motor in it i get 8.5 mpg consistently with them all even with 400k on some
I have 538000 miles on my 2004 v10 Ford, original motor, trans, even the water pump is original.
I have a Chinook Baja 4x4 built on this chassis and I LOVE it. I smile every time i turn the key.
I still love a good old work truck. Nice video and you speak the truth on the whole work truck deal. Everyone wants to pull their mowing trailer with a big 4x4 diesel. I would rather ditch the trailer and drive a Isuzu npr to be honest
Michael Nussbaum exactlyyy
Take off the mud tires and offset wheels then. The Triton V10 is so much cheaper than a diesel and works just as well for 99% of truck owners.
Eliminating the very restrictive exhaust will do wonders for the mileage, an electric cooling fan will also benefit mileage
George S., what do you put in it's place - ?
That’s my plan.
I wanted to hear more about the V10 but two minutes in I’m like, stfu..next
I have a 2017 gmc and just sold my 2001 work truck today and I’m already missing her
Always loved the old work trucks that you didn’t have to worry about messing up. As long as they are reliable when you’re out trying to get work done on a daily basis.
I have driven an ‘08 f-350 with the gasoline V10 at my job. It’s getting about 4-5 MPG, since we mostly use it to pick up trash, which involves a lot of idling.
2005 Excursion limited with the v10 and I love it. Canoe on top camper behind and wife next to me, love it!!! Sucks gas who cares.
Who wouldn’t love a truck like that?
I get 6-8 mpg with my 460. 11-12 mpg with my V10.
Wouldnt trade either one, hard working trucks!
TLDR: Guy buys a v10 work truck and doesn't like the MPGs. Everything else is great!
I have a 2004 f350 with the v10 and it gets 13 mpg I love my 350
I’m thinking about buying a 2006 6.8 to do the same thing, toy hauler with xp1000 in it and utv rack for the tube chassis buggy in the bed.
The people who don't like them are the ones who've bought one already worn out and abused and expect results of one that's been taken care of.
Nothing wrong with the 6.8 V10 other than the poor fuel economy but come on it’s a v10
Be grateful that gas is under 2 dollars a gallon. Drove it till the wheels fall off and enjoy the power. You can always adjust prices for gas if need be.
Jaypeezy coolbreezy wait for it to be 5 and 6 diesel
One of the things you probably *love* about the truck is the train-like torque of the V10. I have had many trucks and my V10 excursion is my favorite. My 2-Axle car hauler with a 5000lb tractor on it doesn’t phase it. Room for 8 people is nice too. The V10 is a quirky engine, but a great engine when maintained properly.
Ditch the wheels and tires!! You'll gain back 2+ mpgs.
Do you have a tuner on it? If so, what kind. I have been looking to tune mine to squeeze some more power and MPGs out
@@Christopher-ot8bp No tuner, just standard output.
Work Truck!
Precisely why I use a Tacoma V6 to tow my trailer when mowing. It can tow 6400lbs, still decent gas mileage, no sag at all. Love it.
Axles will slide out eventually ! If you tow all the time a full floater is a must.no matter what brand ! Full floating rear .
I drive my utility truck f350 v10 2003 every day
I got it with 170k miles
For $3000 this f350 is one of the most strong ones I ever have
I drive 15 miles to work every day so 30 a day that's about 3-4 gallons.
How many miles you put on it? I only got 5500 on my 2018 ram with 6.4
Josh, I bought it new in July of 2015 and just turned 38k miles.
I love mine so far. Thanks for the reply
Same here. Does everything I need it to do and then some.
have 1999 v10 superduty. pulls 30ft 5th wheel. LOVE IT.....
I have an old 93 Chevy 1500. 204,000 miles with the v6, absolutely rotted away. That thing is so fun. You mash on the gas when you’re at a stoplight and then let go and it backfires, I love it. It’s fun because you don’t have to give a crap about it
I'd feel dumb too if I bought a V10 3/4 ton to haul a lawn mower and tree limbs. The fuel economy was written on the sticker when you bought it.
The epa doesnt determine fuel economy after a certain weight
So in my research I found out that Banks makes a total exhaust system upgrade the
Went "PowerPack" and it has all the hardware NO Studs BOLTS 😄 .
Have 04 f250 4×2 v10..manual 5 speed...380k miles....k&n air filter...deleted muffler...boy. I love it
They probably did something wrong when they replaced the engine in yours if you're getting 6mpg. My all original 2002 V10 excursion gets 13 to 14mpg if driven right and 8mpg towing 10k pounds.
Fuel mileage comes down to rear differential gearing. Change out your gear ratio. I have one. I can get 15 mpg. 6.8L V10. Very dependable. Just runs.
I have a 01 7.3 diesel i Average about 18 mpg hauling my trailer and 25 with nothing hooked up .
Part time Lawn care what country do you live in? Are you going off of what the truck tells you or did you calculate it at the pump.
Joseph Samsor just based on what i add up
Part time Lawn care idk I just find those numbers super unlikely.
I have an ‘01 7.3 two wheel drive19/22 city/highway empty. 18 highway towing 5K
06 Crew cab 4 WD 10 MPG , V10 motor coaches are getting 7-10 all day
My brother drove an Eco-boost across Canada pulling a 11000 pounds gooseneck trailer and he did as good milage per gallons as the big diesel F-350
His company still own and drive that pickup to this day, The turbo was replace once and it was the only thing they had with the engine and that engine as as much torque as a V-10
I had a 2000 f250 V10 and it would pass everything but a gas station, but it was bulletproof and a work horse if you know that you'll be fine, I would not hesitate to buy another one for work.
What rear ends do you have, 3:73, 4:10? makes a big difference in fuel mileage,
You should wait until the new revised super Duty with 7.3 v8 and get that. It had more power at least on paper than the v10 Triton minus 2 cylinders
You get like 18 if you drive it right, v10s are one of the best engines out there. That's why Ford still puts them out even though everyone bags on them
18 mpg? 😂 yeah right. I drive all the speed limits and still get 10 IF im lucky
Have an 09 and a 2010 v10. 400,000 and 350,000 miles respectively. Both pull a trailer 100 percent of the time. Get between 9 and 10.5 mpg. Oil changes every 10k miles. Can't beat them.
Love my F-250 V-10 triton work truck also. My truck is my most expensive tool. Plain and simple, it gets the job done and it’s fun to drive!
No fanciness but those 4 oversize tires sticking out beyond the body probably weigh at least 500 lbs with the rims. Get some stock OEM highway tires.
I fell like the people that have never owned these trucks dont undstand! Haha they run great to me!
Put a 3:73 gear in and keep your right foot in the cab. The V-10 has plenty of torque
to use a high speed rear end. Mine's a 2000 model F-350 2wd w/3:73 locker Gets 14 to15 mpg @ 55mph no load Goes almost as well as 4wd
If you think a 2wd v10 gets 6.5mpg, you are bad at math. You need to get your ovaries removed. you will feel better.
this guy sounds like he absolutely has no idea what he is talking about and clearly knows nothing about the 6.8L. i couldn't even make it past 2min30sec
I have an 09 with the same 6.8 and it tows heavy trailers all the time and it has over 300,000 on it and runs like new
had 97 f150...Limited slip almost posi.rear end....left rear tire kicked in right away....loved it
Modify the exhaust for high performance , power and mileage will increase..
