I care for persons with dementia in home, and their children are so out of touch with reality, so neglectful, and wait far too long to place them in care. It is frustrating and heartbreaking. They let their ego, and often the guidance of their GP who is never around to assess, get in the way of our sound advice working with these clients daily, and it seems the attitude is if something bad happens then so be it. My own father had dementia, and mom was home with him until he went into care. Leaving a person with dementia home alone and unable to cope is no different than leaving a young child alone. It should be illegal. It needs to be better monitored. 🇨🇦

Because no one wants to be bothered. Or they know nothing about dementia. Or the parent fights tooth and nail against doing anything to help them or keep them safe and in my state, the state will not let you do anything unless you can prove they're a danger to themselves or others. With Grandma I tried so hard to keep her in her home because I promised but I finally had to take over and put her in a facility. One of the hardest things I have had to do. ❤❤❤
