I've spent the last 7 years with that splinter of anxiety in the back of my mind that at any moment everything is going to collapse and who knew if we'd be pre or post raptured. After discovering this view a couple weeks ago, I can sleep better at night and my entire outlook has changed
I’ve grown up believing one of the Evangelical views on the End Times. That means that there would be no rapture until after the tribulation. I was taught that God takes His people through the flood, through the furnace, and through persecution; and that you may die like the prophets, apostles, or even Jesus. That was one reason why your heart needed to be ready. If you are persecuted, where will you stand? I may very well still hold this view. What really matters is how we live out our faith now. For you or me, there may be no end times for the world. Our “End Times” might be tomorrow after a tragic car wreck. Be ready at all times and hold fast to Christ no matter what. What you lose for Him He can give back to you later, and even better than when you gave it away. He loves you.
It struck me as Pastor Doug was saying, “The Christian church IS the new Jerusalem, IS the holy of holies...” how much we allow sin to enter the holy of holies. We MUST be about putting to death the deeds of the flesh, we must by the Spirit at work within us, desire holiness for ourselves and the congregations we worship with.
I grew up in a Premillennialist family. All my life I was taught the rapture of the church. I can no longer hold this view. I can see that the Preterist perspective is A much more accurate interpretation. Thank you!
Very well done and excellent questions by the panel. This was a blessing and warrants study!! Thank you all gentlemen and brothers!! This makes sense after I've learned about John Nelson Darby who brought premillennialism into being in the 1800's.
Fantastic interview. You three Brothers asked the exact questions that I was thinking! I only wish I could have had translation of your conversation after you hung up with Gary. God Bless You!
It was a revelation to understand that Revelation is a fulfilled book, that the gospel of Jesus Christ will have its desired effect on earth over time. Gods word does not return to him in vain. It will do what he pleases. God is not a loser.
Some have speculated that Henry Kissinger was the Antichrist. Doug is making the point that John is writing about a man who was a contemporary to his audience, the seven churches. John also assumes that his audience would easily be able to decode this using their numerology, which would spell out NeRON QeiSaR in Hebrew, which in English is Nero Caesar. Doug then depicted a 1st century Christian trying to decipher “the number of his name” and coming up with Henry Kissinger. Which would be a little absurd. 😁 Hope that helps! God bless.
He's got a good grasp of prophecy for the most part. He just needs to go one step forward and take that leap of faith into full-preterism. Most partial-preterists want to take that leap but they are afraid of being labeled heretics.
Amusing role reversal for the Europeans to be the ones who believe in the relatively modern end-times theology of American Fundamentalism and for the American to be the one with the more orthodox eschatology.
Fellas. He's making it up as he goes. Did you get anything out of this? He took ten minutes to answer the question about, Every eye shall see Him return. And then he gets it backward. Every eye saw Him go. Ha ha.
I think Satan is bound in so far as he can’t prohibit the gospel message. He will not prevail Against the gospel the mount of Olives being split is symbolic of God moving the obstacle out of the way for His people
Can't buy it. Do people who believe in a wholly or mostly preterist view reject the second coming? It seems they are happy to bounce between literal and symbolic fulfilment as and when it suits. Does life just carry on ad infinitum, or do these guys believe in an end?
Partial preterists do believe in the 2nd coming. I've heard D.W. call it the final coming so not to confuse it with the dispensational view of the coming at the rapture. There is an end of this age and that is when Jesus, in the flesh, returns to earth and then life continues on into infinity with our Savior. They more closely bounce between historical and symbolic fulfilment. Both the old and new Testaments speak symbolically when judgements are in view. This does not mean the judgements are not literal just that the judgement language usually sounds like a total reversal of creation. It is a reversal from order to chaos, literally.
Both camps take some things literally and some symbolically. Just some examples that I remember from my dispensational days are the scorpions and the 144,000. The bible is full of apocalyptic and figurative language as well as narrative prose. The trick is recognizing which is which. When you take into account the original intended audience it helps to sort a lot of that out. The book itself says that it is intended to be a blessing to the original recipients.
The Romans gave up theirs. The Nordic Pagans gave up theirs. In my view we are in a bit of a hardship in history (Secularism, Atheism, etc), and I think it will continue for a bit to the point where it may seem Christians are losing, but I think ultimately many will come to believe. Now this doesn't necessarily mean the world will be better after this, it may go through a few more rough periods, but eventually Christ will come when the Gospel is at the center of the world.
Must you use that hard rock intro music? It's very disturbing to be pounded like that. We want to hear the spiritual truth, not be assaulted with natural, fleshy, evil drums and beat. That's Satan's technique to incite the flesh. ZZTop, AC/DC, etc., didn't play Amazing Grace or How Great Thou Art, they used music like your intro to destroy peoples lives and lead them into sin.
Did you know that they used music in the Bible for purposes of praising God? Did you hear the words mixed into that beat? Drums are not evil. Words strung into thought can be though.
I have a pocket Bible on my shelf that instead of having Jesus' words in red, it has the scriptures in the New Testament that refer to Old Testament prophecies in red! So I don't think you invented it. And are you saying you and the NT writers are the only ones who make that connection? Whew.

Christ’s everlasting New Covenant has no last days.

I am a big fan of Doug and new to your podcast. Thankyou for a straight forward interview that was very informative and entertaining :)

Great interview! I was tracking until we got to minute 56:47. Greetings from Texas!
Very nice interview!
Id like to follow more of your vids but i only understand English 😢
Where do I buy a copy of Doug’s homemade apostolic Bible?
That’s exactly what I’m scrolling through the comments to find 😅
Is Pastor Doug at the long room in Trinity college library? Nice!
It's just the background picture.
At 43:53, I don't get the "Henry Kissinger" joke. Can anyone explain?

@@ghc9123 it does, thank you! 😊
In the 1970s, he was a statesman who brokered a peace deal in the middle east,
So many Christians said he was the anti Christ.
Funny joke

To think Islam will give up their god seems silly....

@Charles Tingler Well, I think they have influenced us.
...Euphrates had dried up. Time is almost up. Upheavals are on the way.
This hasn’t aged well lol

Of course that's not what he's saying. Lol.
He's just saying he did the work in his Bible without having one of those nifty pocket bibles that you have.
😂 only recent ones have New Testament reference written on the notes of the old testament texts.
A lot of my Bible have that, too.
